My husband has moved into Watson Fields. We chose them because they were the only ones that were willing to give him a chance. The staff is just fine. They're not the swiftest, but they're nice people. It's a beautiful facility. The rooms are big. There are two people in one room, and that's not always the easiest if the two people don't get along. The activities are pretty much geared to the lowest denominator, like bingo. My husband doesn't particularly care about the food, but he doesn't care about my meals either. I don't know what the meals are, but I can see that they're doing their best. They sing together patriotic songs and musicians are coming in. Many residents who are the nursing home type sit in front of the television most of the time. There are people there that are not alert anymore. My husband has a nice, in front of a window, bed. The place smells good and that's always important to me. They have outside contracts for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and mental health stuff coming in. The food is institutional looking. In comparison with everybody else, the price is pretty reasonable.

The rooms at Watson Fields were very, very small and looked like a hospital room. It's like two beds with a divider in between. When I went there, it seemed like all of the residents were in their rooms. So, it wasn't one that I was considering, but the lady who toured me around was very nice and pleasant. She did a good job explaining everything that they had. The hallways were wide. I walked through the dining room and it also looked clean.

My father spent the last few weeks of his life in this facility when we could no longer provide the home care necessary for his hospice needs. As he was still functional, he was included in the more active senior group. He was lovingly treated by the very attentive staff; forged friendships that my mother and I still maintain, and ultimately, when he became too ill, his symptoms and comfort needs were completely and compassionately provided by the staff at Watson Fields. As a physician and Hospice and Palliative Care Specialist myself, I cannot imagine a facility better able to insure your loved ones' care. Also, though our family was not able to fully appreciate the services for more active seniors due to my father's illness, this facility far and away surpassed the local options in providing a full and engaging set of activities for seniors, multiple options for engaging with other residents, competent health care, excellent food (I was welcomed, free of charge to share several meals with my dad, and my mother dined every evening with him). At any rate, I cannot possibly share with you how much Watson Fields helped both my father and our entire family. I recommend the facility completely and without any reservations!

I'm employed at Maple Suites retirement home in Dover, NH, and often our residents will move to assisted living facilities if they can no longer live comfortably on their own. Sadie, a resident and friend of mine, was transferred to Watson Fields when she became ill with pancreatic cancer. Shortly before she passed away, I went to Watson Fields to visit her. It was a pretty nice place and the people there were kind to her, but all the same it made me sad because it was so unlike Maple Suites. Instead of there being happy, independent senior citizens, most of the men and women who lived there were very sick. But as far as the actual facility and the staff were concerned, it seemed like she and the other residents were well taken care of. The rooms had comfortable beds and chairs in them and there was an activity room where the residents could socialize. I never tried the food, but Sadie said that she thought it was pretty good.
