My parents are in Pleasant View Retirement. They have been there for five years now. They've had a great experience there, the staff is wonderful, and they enjoy the additional amenities of the place. They have a recreation that is always trying to keep them engaged and interested in extracurricular types of activities, getting the residents to be more social, and so they enjoy that. The managing director is very caring and does a good job of ensuring that the residents are safe and happy. She's very helpful to the family who's supporting the residents there. It's an apartment and an older building, the building has been around for over 100 years, there's a lot of history to it, it was reasonably well kept. They have a library, an exercise room, an outdoor pool, they have a sunroom, they have a billiards room, and they have a function room when family come and visit. They had a classical piano player come in and entertain them, they had an artist who came in and provided a group art lesson, and I think it was three events and he took them to step one, step two, and step three, and finished painting as a group. They have line dancing, different exercise things for the residents. They have a resident's choir, and they're next door to a facility that has more skilled nursing help if people need to progress.

I like Pleasant View Retirement. There were a lot of windows and places to sit outdoors, like balconies. They had a lot of different music and things going on. The staff was very nice and sociable. Someone had just moved out in the first room we went to on the first floor, so they were getting ready to redo it. Everything in the room was located well. The lady was getting ready to leave, and she started telling me how much she loved it there. They have one meal a day, which is a buffet. The room was sunny and bright. The staff was great and very good at explaining everything to me. They have an exercise room, library, and salon. Everything was really clean, but it was a little bit of an older building.

I liked Pleasant View Retirement. The people there were very welcoming. The person who showed me the facility was really accommodating and very helpful. She allowed me to go on a tour there even though my mother wasn't available to go with me. She gave me a lot of time. It seemed like a nice place. They had a lot to offer as far as the rooms. There are a lot of interesting places for a person to go like the solarium, the dining room, and a library, and the grounds are wonderful. The room was kind of small, but that's OK because usually a person in that situation isn't necessarily looking for a lot of space. They just want a place to be. The staff there seemed very warm and welcoming and interested in working with the people who live there. I was able to get a sense of the activities and it seemed like they offered quite a bit as far as physical activity and different clubs and the people there sometimes set up their own ways of getting together, which was quite nice. The grounds were really pleasant. It's nice that it's in the middle of Concord, but it feels like it's more in nature. There are a lot of birds and people mentioned seeing various animals near the woods outside the window. There's a big lawn. They had a nice package all put together, and the fact that it included dinner and the residents could also get something for breakfast if they needed it. They offer a shuttle for local shopping and things. I thought that was all very helpful. I was there during dinner, but people were going in to eat and I didn't want to disrupt them, so I didn't see the food. It's an old building which gives it character. It also seemed a little bit run down in spots. To me, that wasn't a big deal, and it seemed like it had a lot of charm and character to make up for it. It had a really big, lovely living room. Some of the layouts were kind of strange, and some parts seemed like they needed some attention, but that's to be expected with an older building. The staff was accommodating and she was willing to do whatever was needed to answer my questions, and she was willing to adjust her schedule so I could go after business hours on a Friday to tour the place.
