I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Our friend of over 40 years has been a resident of Hearthstone since January 2023 She has multiple health issues from a stroke causing memory issues and a defective heart valve. The heart valve was replaced this week and was successful. The staff at Hearthstone has been very caring and kind to our friend and she has bonded with some of the staff and other patients. She is very happy with her living environment although it is a bit spartan. She likes the food and care she receives. I would rate a 4 out 5.

Hearthstone staff has the biggest and most compassionate hearts! Their expert team of nurses, CNA's, therapists, housekeeping, transportation, dietetics, hospitality, activities and admin work cohesively to bring excellence to patients. Each one is a gift! My loved one has been there for months and is THRIVING! He is more independent and confident than we could have imagined after suffering a severe stroke last year. His speech and sounds are improving with lots of giggles and positive communication strategies, even when frustrated. Additionally, he is motivated to get out of his wheelchair and attempt walking more frequently. His confidence is soaring with this wonderful team of professionals that surround him 24/7. We are truly blessed that Hearthstone had one bed available!

This place is Beyond Terrible! They are careless and mistreat all the residents! staff ignores all patients lights when they need assistance, I have timed it at over 1.5 hour wait before anyone even checked up on my family member, they do not care as most residents dont remeber anything so they take advantage, they do not care for the residents health at all they lie about completing the daily duties in attending to the residents. please help these residents! This is not right! the Administrator does not care nor does the Director of Nursing! this place is awful and ALL residents suffer.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was at Hearthstone of Northern Nevada. They're a zero. I'm amazed that they are still open because of how they treated each resident. They ignore everybody there. Most of the residents in there have dementia or Alzheimer's, so they don't remember stuff. When I was there visiting with my mom, I timed the call light, and it was on for more than an hour. They're underpaid, and they're understaffed, and that's one of the reasons why I took her out of there. It had everything there. It had physical therapy, so she doesn't have to go. If she would have picked the other places, there's no physical therapy in the building that she would have to be transferred and go to a different facility.

I am/was a resident of this facility

This was not a pleasant experience. After an accident and multiple surgeries, I needed more help than I could expect at home but, not enough to use a valuable hospital bed. Therapy staff is great but, spread too thin, nursing has staffing issues, far too few cna's to care for those who cannot do for themselves. (especially on the first shift) I could not get out of bed to go to the bathroom on my own, average response to a call button during daytime, 35-55 minutes. Hygiene does not appear to be a priority, 2 showers in nearly 3 weeks. Food is pretty good and ample unless you have any special dietary needs, such as gluten restriction.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister was a resident of Hearthstone following spinal surgery. Her care there was less than marginal to say the least. I traveled from out of state to check on her numerous times during the course of her stay. She developed bedsores that could have been reasonably preventable this day and age. I observed band aids on her torso that were dated 10 days out. She was scheduled for a scan in a nearby hospital on a particular day and was dressed sitting in her wheelchair waiting. But no one came for her. After inquiring with her social worker who makes the daily rooster for patient appointments, did I learn the transport did not take place. Though the social worker believed she had in fact attended this appointment , it was clear that there was/is no follow up. We had to reschedule. Most shockingly, was receiving a call from my sister stating that a large naked man crawled into her bed one night pinning down her leg, she yelled for help and he had to be removed by staff. I contacted Hearthstone immediately; her story was verified by the social worker. I am my sisters P.O.A as she is not always cognitive of her health and surroundings. I was not contacted by Hearthstone about this event even though it warranted a visit by local law enforcement to get her statement and ask if she wanted to press charges, absolutely appalling! Depending on the staff on duty, we timed the average answer to her pushing her call light button up to 45 minutes. While there staff members (CNA's and nurses) that were very extremely considerate caring individuals showing my sister kindnesses, upper management had a nonchalant attitude when I brought up my legitimate concerns of my sisters well being.

My father in law is in hearthstone for the second time. I LOVE the staff. Any time there is even a slight change I get a call. Sometimes they are a little to quick to call but it's all for the best interest of the patient. I have a good rapport with all the staff. He's not the easiest patient, but they work very well with him.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Mother was there almost two weeks after a fall. Her rehab was minimal and a waste of time. She said the care staff was fine. I found the office staff and social worker to be very unprofessional. I repeatedly called for information on my mothers care and was always routed to a voicemail. I never received a call back on any of my inquiries. When I did get to speak to the social worker, she was rude and condescending. I checked my mother out of that place early. They were able to place a call to report me to NV senior services but never could call me. Don't expect much if you go there. Showers are few and far between.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was there after a total knee replacement surgery, for a period of 10 days. The Physical Therapy staff was very good but the rest was a nightmare. The care was not adequate at all. I was there for five days before I could get anyone to bring me towels for a shower. When I complained to staff, I was told I wouldn't be scheduled to shower for another two days. I insisted she bring me towels and was told she didn't know if there were any available. The food was so poor, half the time I couldn't tell what it was. The place smells of urine! The room I was in was not well ventilated. I ask staff to open the window a crack but she couldn't figure out how to slide the window and said she needed to call for an engineer. I got myself out of bed and opened it! Later, in the evening, I ask that the window be closed, again she couldn't figure how to slide it shut. Most staff did not speak English well enough to converse. Do not go there!
