I'm not sure what the previous reviewer (Hudson2001) was referring to, but we have had an absolutely wonderful experience at Skyline Estates over the past 2 years. The staff is extremely attentive and caring, and the food is extremely good, in fact, my mom has actually gained much needed weight since moving in. The new owners have done so much to improve the community in every way and are genuinely concerned with the well-being of each resident and family member. I simply could not be happier about this place and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, loving, home-style environment for their friends or loved one.

My brother was a resident fall of 2023. Skyline Estates is not a place for any loved one. The manager/director communications skills left much to be desired. Often I would visit and my brothers full size kitchen garbage can was overflowing with dirty diapers and I would have to wash my shoes after visiting as the urine from the changing of his catheter made for a very sticky floor. I only requested a catheter due to him being left with dirty diapers long term. A CNA walked me to the 2 laundry room trying to find my brothers blankets I bought him and both rooms had several tall laundry baskets full of dirty laundry with feces. My brother's room smelt like a sewer often. On weekends more times than no, the CNA would be in the break room watching videos on his phone.

I visited Skyline Estates Senior Living & Memory Care. I liked the personnel. They seemed to be very helpful. It looked like a clean environment. I talked to a couple of residents there. They seemed to be well taken care of. I didn't see anybody kind of just sitting out in the hall, unattended type of thing, so I was pleased with that. It comes down to the money now. When I walked in, it was clean. They had a receptionist there, obviously asking what they can help me with. I had already set up an appointment to talk to the person who handles the new clients. She walked me around and showed me a couple of available rooms based on the need of my mom. As I was walking through, she pointed out the one section they have for memory care, which is not what my mom qualified for. It was a nice, sunny day, so they had some people out in the middle of the courtyard entertaining, singing Frank Sinatra's and that era of music that these people have grown up with. I saw people sitting around at either tables and chairs they had there or they were in a wheelchair or whatever, listening. I walked by the little kitchen area that they have, and it looked clean. There were a couple of people sitting at the table having a cup of coffee. I saw some of the residents who are mobile and able to get around and a couple of them outside a little shaded porch area. I saw people cleaning up rooms. They have animals there. I guess one of the employees brings her little dog and also they have a house cat. They have various activities that come in to entertain them. My mom's a big animal lover and they have periodically the local animal shelter come in with pets and animals so that the residents can interact with them. I asked what are their rules or guidelines. They showed us they have kind of a call button in every room if anybody needed any help, which my mom does because she's blind, so she does need help getting around. They didn't seem to have any restrictions if anybody wanted to come and take them out for lunch or even just stay at my house for a day or two. I appreciated that because I have family members who would also come and want to hang out with her. The person that I was dealing with for the placement kept in contact with me every few days and wanted to update the process that I was at. She was pretty available for any questions I had or any of my family members had. They have a limited amount of rooms set aside for Medicaid patients, and I'm still waiting for the final approval. I could see and they said themselves that they needed more help. They're short-staffed. From what I observed, it would be a pretty good spot if they had more staff. While I was there, I didn't see anybody suffering or lacking anything, but I could tell that they were stretched for sure. They had some kids there. They're allowing some of their employees to bring their kids so that they come to work because they're so short-staffed. They were very polite and very nice. I told them the situation and what mom's needs were and they felt confident that they can take care of her needs. I talked to one of the residents, and she said that she felt comfortable there and she's been there almost two years.

Skyline Estates is not some place I would put my mom. They seemed to be more like a nursing home, but without nursing home licensing. Most of the residents that I could see were bedfast. There were very, very small rooms. Communal eating was on bench tables and just not suitable for my mom. They didn't have any meals available. They bring meals from a different part of the facility to the building that I was seeing. They don't have any menu choices. I think it's appropriate for some people, just not for my mom.

We visit skyline several times a week. We always find my Mother sitting or laying down in a sopping wet depends. Either her bed is wet or her chair, and her pants are consistently wet too. The other complaint I consistently here from my Mother and other residents is the food is terrible. I can verify this complaint because I see what they eat. I have also had several meals there. Very, very often her call for help alarm worn around her neck doesn’t work or nobody responds. Often she calls me on the phone to ask me to call Skyline and summons help for her. Her room is very nice. The staff are very nice, but overworked and shorthanded often. There are lots of activities availability They offer most amenities compared to other homes.

This place was very warm and inviting and was more like an extension of my dad’s home rather than a “facility” or hotel feel. The staff was very helpful and informative. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for that “home style” look and extra care for loved ones.

My great-aunt was at Skyline Estates. She was not happy with the food there. She said it was all carbohydrates and very bland. The staff was mediocre. The facility was new and clean. The dining area was fine, but many of the residents complained about the food.

Mountain Springs Senior Care is fine. The facility and the rooms are clean. The staff is caring. I like it because they come and get her meals if she didn't have any and their food is good.

Mountian Springs' location was very nice in a quiet neighborhood and very close to many Doctors offices. The building had a very nice setup with wings of rooms surrounding a central kitchen and common room. At first the staff was amazing and kept the home looking spectacular and kept the residence very busy. After a few years we knoticed that most of the great staff started leaving to work for other facilities in the area. After that everything went down hill. They kept raising the rates and were always under staffed for the amount of residents they housed. We tried to look past certain things, but when the cleanliness of the home started to go down hill we decided to move my Grandmother to a different home in Carson City. We couldn't be happier with our decision to move my Grandmother out of Mountian Springs.
