Staff were not friendly especially management! It took quit awhile for call lights to be answered. I spoke with management and they did not seem to care.

We liked Papillion Manor a lot. It’s an older but well-kept facility. The nurses were really good, and the rooms were like small apartments. We ended up using Papillion for my father-in-law, which worked out very well. The food was fine. They had little sitting and bathroom areas and physical therapy in the facility. They had activities like bingo, cards, and puzzles.

My father stayed here for a few weeks after a brief hospital stay, so that he could receive physical therapy & gain his strength back. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's & early stage dementia 4 mos. prior to coming to the manor, so it is all still fairly new to our family. We really liked the place, except that it took nurses quite awhile to come when he needed them. He is incontinen & was not able to hold it that long. We thought all was well, until the night before we were to have our family meeting with the staff. My father was the one to tell us what was going to be discussed. The next day, we were hit with the news that there were some behavioral issues that meant we needed to remove him from the Manor. While I understand that they need to look out for their nurses and staff, he was not violent or a threat. Despite trying to tell them that it was not normal behavior for my father, we were still told(in not so many words) that he needed to leave. We rushed the next day to have a Braun seat installed in the car, as he was unable to get in or out of the vehicle & we had no other way to transport him. The day after that, we brought him home, with no definite nursing or therapy plans in place. After speaking to the home therapist & his neurologist, we learned that it could all be a side effect of his Parkinsons med. and can be controlled by simply modifying them. All of this could have been avoided if only they had notified us & the neurologist the first incident! Not very professional. We even printed off the info. From the Parkinsons site in an attempt to inform, but it didn't seem to make it past the nurse that we handed it to, as the head nurse the next day didn't know what we were talking about. Wish they were better about communicating with the families and Drs. In instances like this, because we thought it was a great place until this.

The sanitation of Papillion Manor is good, and the appearance is very nice. I have a single room, so it is OK. But it is not handicapped equipped -- which is very detrimental -- and if there are two persons in a room, it is extremely difficult to get around. They have more nurses' aides than they do nurses, so they don't have enough nurses on the staff. They have plenty of activities. They had a band this morning that came and played for the people, they have church services several times a week, and they have games. The food is very bad, and the dining area is, again, not handicapped equipped, so it is difficult to get around. I am looking right now; the majority of people in this dining room have wheelchairs. The staff is friendly, but they don't pay attention. The night shift does not pay attention to the patients at all. They don't pay attention to the medicines which are to be distributed, or to the lights which are flashing in the hallways. It takes forever to get to a person, and it is not because they are busy. They need to improve on their scheduling. There are no schedules for physical therapy or occupational therapy, so you have no idea when you are going to be called to go. As far as getting people to and from, there is a taxi service that they charge for, but then it is very hard to get them.

My experience with Papillion Manor was during a clinical rotation to become a Certified Nursing Assistant previous to my start at a nursing school in Omaha, NE. Papillion Manor was the first nursing home that I had ever visited, and I was very impressed. The patients were all very well taken care of by nurses and nursing assistants. Each patient had their own private room, which seemed very comfortable and pleasant for the residents. The facility was very well taken care of and was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was able to sit with a few of the patients during breakfast and lunch, and the food that was served looked tasty and well prepared. Most of the residents seemed very happy to be living there, and I heard nothing but positive comments from the residents about the care that they were being given from nurses and nursing assistants. I worked alongside a few of the nursing assistants, and they all seemed very knowledgeable and willing to provide excellent care for the residents.

Papillion Manor is a very clean facility. They have strived to give the nursing facility a very homey feeling. They have locked cabinets where they keep the residents special treasures, which gives the items security and give you a feeling of the resident. The facility features 3 dining areas and has multiple sitting areas for residents to congregate. Currently they are decorated with a Halloween type theme. The staff is very friendly and they seemed to have learned not only my mother's name, but the family's names as well. They do seem to be very busy, so sometimes you have to wait for help, but they try very hard to be prompt. They allow the patients to choose from several different menus. Food is good but not great. Sometimes the food isn't as warm as she would have liked. The therapy staff at the facility are extremely proficient, friendly and hard working. My mother feels that she has gained great strides in her physical abilities since coming to Papillion Manor. Since my mother was extremely concerned about going to the home, she feels she is receiving good treatment and is very glad she chose Papillion Manor.
