Hillcrest Shadow Lake is very clean and very well run. The staff is attentive to my mother and her needs. She's in memory care, and it is well staffed and the employees are on top of everything. I have no problem visiting and leaving her because I know she is in good hands. They have a little courtyard, and we're looking forward to taking her out there. There's a little walking circle that you can go around.

Management should be ashamed of how they take care of and treat memory care residents. Once you open the door to the memory care area, the smell of poop and body odor is overwhelming. The workers are on their phones or standing around talking to one another. They do not engage with the residents. There are no activities. They do not help residents brush their teeth or in my grandma’s case soak her teeth overnight. They only bathe her once or twice a week. They repeatedly lose her glasses and other various items. I’ve spoken to the social worker and director who claimed to have filed a grievance but I never heard back. They do not care about your loved ones. They are just there to take your money and do the bare minimum.

Obviously from our experience and reading the others this place has seriously declined in quality care in last 2 years We thank god we didn’t let our loved one be admitted here. They don’t like questions, they tell u they will have to be in their rooms a lot, they openly tell u they are understaffed and have to use outside agencies, they wouldn’t let us speak to the administrator or director of nursing….everyone was in a meeting or on the phone. Do not commit your loved here…….you will surely b sorry. We found a wonderful welcoming place in omaha…..just keep looking and interviewing!

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I sure would! My mother has repeatedly fallen while under their care and it took me and her POA getting upset with the staff before they would x-ray her to make sure nothing was broken, although for TWO days she cried in pain!!! Furthermore, her grandson is on military leave to visit with his dying grandmother and they are so generous with giving him a 20 MINUTE visit after he drives 14 hours!! 20 MINUTES!!!!! Are you kidding me right now?!?! Kevin, the Administrator, is not even willing to make an accommodation!!! These people are cruel and heartless!!! Her grandson is Military and has been vaccinated and yet, because Hillcrest Shadow Lake staff doesn’t want to come to work because of Covid they won’t allow for family to spend reasonable time with loved ones who are trapped in this horrible place!!! Get real!! These are people, not things!!! Human contact with their FAMILY is more vital to their well-being than the incompetent staff!!!

I went for my 20 min. Visit today, which is every two weeks! My mom was so over medicated that she could not keep her eyes open. When I moved her closer to the window, the staff that was hovering outside the visitation room, came in and scolded me! They were intrusive and disrespectful. They make it very difficult to be a part of my mother’s care! I have yet to see her room after a month! We are both fully vaccinated and wore masks! This was a very uncomfortable visit and I don’t have any trust that it will get better! All of this is after the lies and deceit over her medical care! When confronted about inaccuracies, I was told they could not talk to me about her health care since I was not the POA. I had cared for her for 16 months prior to this and was never restricted in any capacity for being her advocate! Now I am striped of any meaningful contact. In addition the medical director is an DO, not a MD, with no geriatric training. The APRNs are the ones who have direct patient contact and Kari her APRN was disrespectful and unprofessional as was Vanessa the Social worker. She was the one who enacted the POA and will only communicate with my brother, who hasn’t seen my mom for 18 months. Please pray for my mother!

My wife was in Hillcrest Shadow Lake for almost 5 years until her passing. Anyone can complain about anything but I found the direct staff (nurses and techs) to be caring and loving and focused on doing their best for my wife. Management, housekeeping, food services and the recreation staff at HSL were all focused on doing their best. If I again had to choose a place for a loved one I would not hesitate to choose HSL. No place is perfect but I am glad my wife was there and strongly believe she received the care she needed from loving people who had her best interests at heart.

Hillcrest Shadow Lake is excellent. They’re doing an excellent job and we couldn't be more pleased. It's clean, large, and the staff is all around. I can't say enough good things about it. I couldn't have picked a more pleasant place for my friend. I'm just so pleased she's there and I couldn't think of a nicer environment.

Hillcrest was vibrant, and it’s like a resort. They have a full theater and another big room that they use for activity for people that come. There’s a university that comes twice a month with programs. It’s not as expensive as some of the others I’ve looked at. The girl that I have been working with has been very cordial and helpful.
