Wonderful staff, clean facility (has improved a lot over the past 3 years) and lots of activities, even throughout the pandemic. Always willing to work with family members to facilitate visits and contact.

What you can do with Caring
About Colony Pointe in Columbia, Missouri
To us at Colony Pointe in Columbia, Missouri, assisted living means two things: you do the living and we help you live. Our personal assistants provide what you need when you need it. Here, the emphasis is less on paperwork and more on people. Our licensed nurse and certified medication aides get to know our residents like family, with all of their unique needs and preferences. It's like home.
Dining is a focal point of our residents' day at Colony Pointe. It starts with an open breakfast with eggs just the way you like them. We accommodate our early risers ready for toast and coffee as well as those who can't start the day without a big hot breakfast. Comfort foods, foods familiar and favorite, are part of our menu.
At The Arbors at Colony Pointe, living with Alzheimer's becomes less of a challenge for you and your loved one. We combine the intimacy of assisted living with specialized care for dementia. The size of the Arbors promotes a comforting, calming environment. With no more than 15 rooms, the Arbors co-exists with a sister assisted living facility, yet remains separate. Care is provided in a building specifically designed with the care of the Alzheimer's resident in mind. We consider each resident's own strengths and weaknesses to weave a seamless cloth of individualized care. We also incorporate the latest approaches to this challenging disease into the daily routines and activities of all our residents. It's difficult to even search for proper care while tending to someone with Alzheimer's. Each day presents new challenges to patients and their caregivers. At the Arbors we offer a shelter of care and advice for the entire family.
Our admission counseling services are comprehensive. Our administrator helps guide the family through all of the care options available to them as well as through the maze of paperwork involved with accessing our public long term care benefits. Making it easy on the family is our first priority at Colony Pointe.

Colony Pointe was very well-kept. It's a fairly new facility and it has a very new feel to it. It looked great. The room was spacious. It's actually bigger than our living room at home. It had a very nice-sized bathroom. I was very impressed by the quality of the room. The director's name is Dan, and he spent over an hour with us. He interviewed us, and he took copious notes. He assured us that everything that I do for my wife at home, they could do there, including her diabetes care and her insulin monitoring. We can bring our portable oxygen machine there. So it would just be really a nice home away from home. They have games and puzzles. We saw about seven or eight of the residents, and I think they were playing cards. They're all very lucid and seemed to be enjoying themselves. They've got a spa day. One thing that my wife just loves is to get a back rub and a massage. And I told them if she can get a massage every day, she won't want to come home. When I had the talk with her about this plan of her going into a place while I'm on my recharging vacation, I wasn't sure how she would take it, but she said she was willing to try. Overall, I was very, very pleased when I left the place. The staff who assisted us was great. He was very attentive. He asked all the right questions. He spent time with us. He's the head of the facility and I really, really liked him. The community was squeaky clean.

We went to Colony Pointe. The grounds outside were very pretty, it seemed very homey, it wasn't too fancy or anything. We happened to walk in just at lunchtime and everybody was around the table, and it was quiet. It was a kind of a surprise visit. The dining area looked great, everything looked clean and organized. The staff member was very knowledgeable. She was very nice. She answered every question we had, told us probably all the information that she could, which was everything just shy of actual finances, and what would be available over the next month. They've got a large room and they had a lot of puzzles out. It looked like they had places where they could walk outside a little bit. There were a lot of outside areas where people could sit.

Colony Pointe Senior Living was very clean, very bright, and the staff and residents were very engaged and out in the common rooms. It also has a nice view, and those are the reasons why we chose them for my mother. They have arts and crafts, musical acts would come in and other activities like that. The staff was why we went there, they were fabulous. It's a fairly new building and it looked clean.

My mother is in Colony Pointe. The staff is great, but they're often short staffed. They have typical programs like bingo, movies, discussion groups, and crafts. The food is typical for the most part and she didn't have complaints about it. They have a spa room, a craft area, and computers. They do a good job with housekeeping and they work well with her.

We visited Colony Pointe. When we walked in the door, there was a small lobby, and then, we were right in the dining room. My mom didn’t like that. She didn’t like the layout of the place. Also, because it was strictly assisted living, the people didn’t seem as active or interested. They were a little more worn down and needy. The rooms were not as big as we would have liked. The rooms did have a microwave and a small refrigerator. For activities, they had some crafts, card games, a puzzle room, and a movie theater set up, but they didn't have as many field trips.
Provider Response
I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on your visit to our community today. Through the years, Americare has learned that everyone has a different vision of what home should feel like. While we may not be the right fit for everyone, our team works hard every day to deliver a great customer experience. Our Elder Care Advisors help families find the community that is the right fit for them. Our activities at Colony Pointe are constantly changing to focus around the desires of the current residents. Activities are planned to engage the spectrum of current residents. We are proud to be the home community of the Regional Activity Director Molly Heinz, in our Arbors community and to have such an intelligent linguistics, Carlie Lavalee, as our Assisted Living Activity Director. We are always looking for ways to be even better and will be reviewing your comments. Please let me know if you would like to talk further. Sincerely, Sean Buckley Colony Pointe Administrator
