We placed my husband in Ashland Villa Senior Living. My cousin is there, and I've known other people there. It's always friendly, the people know each other, and I know that he knew some of the people before he went in, and that makes it easier. They have treated him very nicely, he has been having difficulty adjusting, but they have been patient throughout that adjustment period. It hasn't always been easy for them, but they have been very good about it, and I appreciate that. He calls me after every meal and tells me what he had to eat, he always describes wonderful food, and he's eating absolutely everything. He's quite happy there, he enjoys playing bingo, they had an outside concert one day, and I saw residents walking outside and getting their exercise. I think it's worth the price.

Ashland Villa was a very clean community. I was impressed with the whole thing actually. My only problem, which was not their fault, was that it's not a secure community for my dad. The place smelled wonderful, the menu looked good, and the private room was spacious and clean. I really had no other problem except that it's not a locked down place. The staff that I met there was very friendly and helpful.

Mom is in Ashland Villa, and so far, they've been good. It's a nice facility and they've worked with us very well in moving her back and forth. I thought the food was good, it was fresh, nothing was dry, and it had good flavor. They've had a motorcycle show, music, and outside activities. She has not been there long enough.

Ashland Villa is very clean, but it’s very obvious that’s gone through some turmoil and re-organization, and it isn’t really functioning very well. Sometimes we don’t have enough food and sometimes we have food, but it’s poorly prepared. We usually have a booklet handed to us; these things are provided, this is done, that’s done, and we don’t have any kind of information. You don’t know when the laundry is going to be picked up, you don’t know if you really signed up for a haircut, and many of the staff was undertrained, they don’t know what medications are. It’s a two person room. The room I was supposed to go in first they couldn’t get a unit to operate very well so they moved me. Sometimes there isn’t enough in terms of portions but a lot of this is due to the fact of the organization took place. Resident’s activity is separate from the medical activity so that if you signed up for an activity the medical comes along. They promised us transportation to appointments we’d already made but they refused to do them, and we had to reschedule appointments.
