This is a message to all future and even current families who have placed their loved ones within any White Pine or Gracewood communities. This organization is corrupted and mislead, who’s own vision of “serving people better” is a quote of the past and now sees a person as only a unit filled and not as individuals with stories. I urge you to find other communities other than these, let your moms and dads live out a life without worry and a healthy life.

I would not recommend this facility until they make some serious changes to their training of staff, facility upkeep and overall professionalism of the staff and management. We found many of the caregivers to be very compassionate, but there is a serious lack of understanding for dementia and Alzheimer's at this facility. We recently moved our loved one to a new facility and cannot believe the difference in staff's understanding of memory related diseases, amenities, housekeeping and overall professionalism. We did try and address our concerns with management at white pines before we left, but it fell on deaf ears. On a side note, the caregivers and nurses all met with my loved one and family before we left to wish us luck, but not one word from management.

The facility is clean when I visit. As is common in these facilities, there are good and not-so-good staff. I'm sure they're overworked and underpaid. I am more concerned about the how White Pine is managed. During face-to-face meetings, they are very sweet and supportive. But there is rarely any follow up to what was discussed during the meeting. Phone calls and emails go unanswered. I get the feeling they don't know what they are doing, and they don't seem organized. There have been medication errors. They only reason I give it 2 stars is because my family member has a place to sleep and food to eat. So I will begin the process again of finding a new place for my family member to live. This time I will not so willingly accept what I am told by management staff during my search.

We already moved mom to White Pines, and we liked the environment. We liked the people that work there; they’re very helpful. She has a room which is very clean and the building is only one year old. It’s very bright.

My wife had stayed at White Pine Assisted Living and Memory Care. It was a very lovely and a brand new place. Everything was well appointed and nicely designed. The food was fine. The young lady that was running the kitchen was a graduate of a chef's school. The help was outstanding. If I had a criticism, it's that they didn't have registered nursing help. All they had was one director in nursing, so there was no nursing care there. However, I thought they had resolved that now by hiring a couple of TNs. She was there because she was bedridden and she was having trouble with her memory. Actually, she was very ill with cancer, so it was just a matter of living her time. They had several rooms where a man and wife could have a separate bedroom in a suite. They had a recreation director who does a reasonable job of planning the activities. She brought in entertainment groups there and so forth. I thought they had a fair amount of activities, but most people who were there at that time couldn't participate in activities. As far as I knew, my wife was happy there but she was not able to communicate. I would absolutely recommend them to others.

My mother's only been at White Pine for three months now. She's 95. Our main reason for moving her was that the place she was at was very expensive. White Pine supplies everything. The only thing that we have had to buy so far are batteries for her hearing aid. They even have a nurse, a physician's assistant who comes every week, and a doctor who comes every month. The staff all seem friendly, and there seem to be several of them around. There's always somebody there. It's new, so her room is nice. Nobody has lived in it before. I haven't tried the food, but I watched her eat it. And it always smells really good. It's not gourmet, but it's pretty well-balanced just regular food. They play bingo, they have sing-alongs, and they usually have a schedule of activities. But they don't do anything too strenuous. My mother barely recognizes me, but she doesn't need a walker yet. I think they do a perfectly good job. I'm sure that each and every one of them is trying their best to do their job. They're not outside smoking cigarettes and over in the corner drinking coffee. They're there with the people and talking to them and interacting with them. I think they're really good. I'm quite happy with them.

My Mom lived at White Pines in Fridley for a short time (a month) and I would never recommend anyone placing a family member there. The tour was very good, but after she was all moved in, we found they had lied about alot of things . There was "no chef", the meals were prepared by the aides, mostly frozen TV dinners or pizza, the staff were very ill-prepared to deal with health issues, the management at this place was absolutely horrible! There was only one nurse who was mostly unavailable. They were short-staffed every day and expected a family member to be there 24 hours a day. It was very expensive for the accommodations. I would give them a POOR rating.
