My mother (88 years old) suffered a stroke mid-January 2017 and was hospitalized for 1 week; we were told she would not recover this time. We set up Hospice Care at the hospital and started to research what care center mother could go to peacefully pass away. She had been admitted to other care centers in the past but due to the care she received from them, well, there was no way I would allow her to go to them again. Then the hospital found New Harmony. What a true blessing from God to find this beautiful little care center. The New Harmony staff worked side-by-side with the Hospice Team and it was the BEST care treatment I have ever seen. They provided wonderful care for mother for the 1 week she was there before passing away the 1st week in February.

My mom is now at New Harmony Care Center. The location for us was the biggest plus. And from what I've seen there so far, the food looks good. She has been there for three weeks now. As for the staff, it's hit or miss. Some are great and some that are kind of bad. My mom is a picky eater, but she's been eating the food, and I tried it one day and I thought it was good. They have activities there, too. There's bingo, word games, and trivia. My mom didn't take part in much of it, but I saw it on their sheet every day. They have a front porch which you can only fit two or three people out there, but they don't seem to mind. There's a nature path behind the building, it's a little difficult to get to if you're not in shape to take somebody in a wheelchair, but you can get to it, and that's pretty nice. My mom's room is small and depressing. They said she's going to move to a bigger room, but right now, they have her in a temporary room, and it's very depressing.

I really enjoyed New Harmony Care center because all of the staff their was very welcoming and friendly. They always had smiles on their faces and made me feel welcomed. The service to the people living there seemed to be excellent. Every residents room had it's own bathroom, and the bathroom wasn't tiny and clostraphobic feeling. I thought this was a very appealing asset to the nursing home. They also had different floors for different types of patients. I thought this was good because residents that were living in the nursing home for a longer period of time could form relationships with others that were planning on being there for a long time. The food also seemed to be very good, and the staff worked hard at all times to make sure that the residents got the food they wanted, and the drinks they wanted/needed. Overall, I think that New Harmony Care center is full of loving individuals who truly care about the work they do, and they make the residents feel like family.
