I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

There is no air-conditioning and hasn't been for at least 2 years. There are mice everywhere. They get very little food and what they do get has very little nutrition. There are a few staff members who try but most do very little. The more helpless the patient the less care they seem to get. They don't even have a handicapped rest room.

Majority of the CNAs are horrible. The call lights don't get answered until like 3 hours later. Of they get answered at all. Food is almost always cold or inedible. There are like 3 good nurses.

Please don't send someone you love to this facility. It's terrible! The staff didn't follow instructions sent from hospital for wound care, they actually did things that hospital had in the the DO NOT instructions and would lie when I asked about it. My parent was neglected, deprived of human dignity, and yelled at by some of the staff. Facility put my parent on additional meds so they just would sleep all day. Hitting the call button when need assistance was useless as nobody came which I witnessed first hand many times. The staff complained about being short staffed and facility kept taking in more residents each week while they couldn't take the time to care for the residents they currently had. The lack of care goes all the way to the top so filing a grievance is worthless. I could give more examples but, the list is long and makes me sick when I think about the care my parent rec'd from this facility. Parent is now in a different facility, thankfully, where they are receiving the care, dignity and attention needed.

I'm currently in Highland Chateau. It has been good; I think they're excellent. They have a lot of activities. They have exercises going on and bingo too. The room is really spectacular. I have my very own refrigerator. I also have Halloween decorations and my pictures from home. It is just incredible and it is really big. I even have a bathroom attached that I share with my nextdoor neighbor. She never goes into it because she's got a problem with her urine, so she goes to the bathroom in her own bedroom. The only hang up of the whole room is my closet, which is way too small. The food has its up and downs. It depends on who is working, I'm sure. They have quite a few activities. I don't join in with them except for bingo. Some staff members are OK as well.

This facility has workers who have become FAMILY to us! Not all that glitters IS gold and remember that when you are looking for a Nursing Facility for your loved one. The employees, nurses, staff and PCA's are like our family...as our other residents and their families!

I am a friend or relative of resident

my mother was admitted to the tcu at Highland Chateau yesterday. She is a falls risk due to balance issues. Last evening she rang for a nurse to help her use the restroom and after waiting a very long time, she got up by herself. On the way back to bed she tipped her bedside table over making a loud crash, still no one came to see what happened. I'm worried she may not last the week. Hope she gets out soon and without injury...
