We used to live in Carefree Cottages of Maplewood. They were cottages, like little homes, about 12 in a group, and they were connected but we had our front door, like a house, and an attached garage, which was a feature. There were probably over 90 cottages, and they had a huge apartment building for assisted living and memory care. It was a very nice place. I enjoyed it there. They have a community center which you can rent out for parties. They offer a washer and dryer, which you have to pay for, but in most of the cottages they had hookups for washers and dryers. They have bingo and some form of entertainment. The buildings were built in the 60s and they were maintained pretty well. Some of the inside of the cottages were a little dated. The value for the money was I think overpriced. It got to a point where they were raising it to 100 and over for one year, so a lot of people moved out because it just wasn't worth it.

My sister lives at Carefree Cottages of Maplewood. They have onsite health care. They check on my sister pretty much. They're nice. My sister has to wear one of those medical alert things around her neck in case she falls or something. Somebody will come and check on her. They have very nice apartments. It was very spacious and clean. They have people that clean for them and help with bathing if they need that, so I feel good that my sister is in a safe place and secure building. They do a lot with their patients over there. They have a pretty full calendar. They have bingo. There's a bus that will come and take them shopping if they want to go. They have music, and people come and perform little concerts. They have card games, social gatherings, happy hours, and a huge library with puzzle tables.

I will be moving into Carefree Cottages of Maplewood. I've heard good things about it, so I'm going there. It was very clean. The people were very kind. Everybody was very polite and sweet and just very understanding. They've got libraries, a game room, and a beautiful dining room. The apartment size and the layout were very nice. They're big and roomy. They had transportation, sitting places and everything there, and a beautiful little park. It's like a walking area, and you could sit there and look at the water and just walk around. It was very nice.

Both of my parents lived in Carefree Cottages of Maplewood for many years. They were in an apartment, but they had assisted living on one side of it. They also had cottages. My last visit was probably two years ago. It was nice. It's ran by really nice people, and both of my parents enjoyed living there. They had a community room and different events going on pretty much every day like Bingo and card games. They had a lot of social events. Both of my parents were very social and they liked attending those things. There was a place where if you wanted to do some gardening, you could do some of that. I didn't live there myself, so I didn't know every nooks and crannies of the place, but it was always clean and nice when I was there. The staff was awesome. I enjoyed all of them.
