Encore at Mahtomedi was very nice. The lady that took us around assisted living showed us different apartments, a studio, and a 1-bedroom. People there seemed to be very cordial. We talked to several of the people who lived there and one of them was my sister's friend. It was a very warm and small place, which I think would make her happier. The staff was very nice. A couple of them showed us where to go when we got to the door. Another one took us around and had us meet some of the people that were out and about that day. Everything was good there. The whole area is small, but it's close to shopping a few blocks away. It's nicely landscaped and has space to roam around. There's a Catholic church right next door. My sister's not Catholic, but it's a place where she might end up going frequently anyway. It has a nice, nice place for sitting outside like a gazebo and that kind of thing, so it's pleasant and quiet.

We like Encore at Mahtomedi. The staff seemed nice. We were pleased with the layout and how it was. The staff was very helpful and seemed very friendly. Everything looked really clean. Their financial person onsite has elderly waiver experience, so that was good to know because we didn't know anything about that. Their assisted living is on the second floor. Their chef prepares all their meals in the basement and brings them up via elevator and they're fresh food. We didn't try it, but we were there during dinner time, and it looked good. I asked a resident about the food, and she said it was good. We looked at a studio and a one-bedroom. I thought they were very, very nice. The studio had a very large bathroom. There's a sink and a refrigerator and it seemed to have enough counter space if we wanted a coffeemaker. Then the one-bedroom apartment I thought was pretty spacious. Everything smelled clean and looked clean. They have lots of various places where the residents can sit. They can sit by a fish tank. They have a nice outdoor patio on each floor where the residents can go out, and it's covered. In the summertime, they could sit out there and read or just visit. There's also a courtyard. It just felt more like a small community.

We chose Encore at Mahtomedi for my mom, because it's a very small community. There are only 16 residents, and they'll bring her her dinner at no charge to her room. They provide three meals, help with medications, cleaning the room once a week, and doing laundry once a week. I also like the place because it's very COVID aware, they don't allow many visitors on the floor at one time, which I like. I had visited other properties where everyone was walking around without a mask. I think their food is the same everywhere. It's a simple breakfast, which is what she wants, there's a hot lunch that they prepare, and something smaller at dinner time. She can also order a side menu of hamburgers and sandwiches if she wants. The facility is clean, doesn't smell, and it's quaint and small. In terms of activities, they have everything including bingo, and their activities are pretty good.

We selected Encore at Mahtomedi Assisted Living for my grandmother. It seemed really comfortable for her needs, they had a little kitchenette, but just for more like snacks, a toaster, a small refrigerator, and stuff. So far, it's been very good, with the exception of covid being an issue, there have been a lot of things different while that's going on, but aside from that she seems to be happy. Right now without people being able to go out, they are able to be around each other, they've all been checked and stuff, so she does like to do the different activities, and movies, and then they do outings, but they haven't been able to do that lately. They do have a van or little bus type thing where they go shopping in different places. She seems to like the food, it's extremely clean, they do have a memory care unit.

We visited Coventry Of Mahtomedi for my mother. I like that it is a small place. It is brand new, so it has a lot of really nice decorating. I like the set up of the rooms. I like that their bathrooms are right off the bedroom, so you don't have to go out of the bedroom and into the hallway and into the bathroom. I like that they didn't have bathtubs too. You could go into the shower in your wheelchair if you have to, and the bathrooms were big. I like that all the rooms were on the outside of the building and then the dining was right on the same floor. They had dining on each floor. The only thing is that it was a lot more expensive than the other places. Well, they have movie days and field trips where they can go to like the Dairy Queen or some parks. They have a nurse on staff, and a doctor would come in as well. Also, they have memory care. I thought this facility is a 5 too. Everyone was very good and very accommodating in your questions.

Coventry was very good; I really liked that one. They had a small number of staff to resident ratio program. It was clean, friendly, and the staff was interacing with the residents quite a bit. It was a little bit farther away though.

We visited Coventry of Mahtomedi. The facility was nice and clean. The rooms looked homey and well-kept. It was also spacious enough. The gentleman who showed us around, I don’t think he was very professional. We just didn’t care for it.

I visited Coventry recently again and liked what I saw and was ready to sign on the dotted line but they required two years private pay. I liked that it was modern, and aesthetically was a very nice building; very warm and inviting. The rooms and the layout for memory care were very nice. It's like a big circle and it's very modern. When I was there, I saw two aides who seemed to be cleaning up the dining area. I was disappointed with the staff's willingness to work with me and to return phone calls. I'm finding that quite difficult with a lot of patients.
