Edgewood in Hermantown was very nice. The inside part was beautiful. The outdoors was very nice also. The apartment was roomy. The lady that we talked to was very nice. She'd been there a while. She knows the place well and she took us on a nice tour. They have a huge dining room and they have bingo games and stuff in there when there isn't a meal. They have a room where you can take your family if your apartment is too small. They have another room with a pool table, and a little bar area that made it look like a bar, and they had juices there. It was a very nice room for the family and the residents if they wanted to go and just get out of the apartment for a while. If I could move in there tomorrow, I would be there. I loved it.

Edgewood Vista Alzheimer's Care was excellent. It was clean, bright, and welcoming. The rooms were well-lit. They had a kitchenette and there were some studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedroom units. So, it was nice to know that they could accommodate the specific needs of people. They would play games, they had a nice dining area and a nice area for visiting and having coffee. At two o'clock every day, they have a get-together for the residents. They had a library area, too, puzzle games, and some other activities.

BEWARE: this facility churns people through here if they do not exactly fit their ease of care. Staff is friendly but most do not seem interested in getting to know individuals, perhaps because of the high turnover of residents and the large staff that rotates through 3 units and also has regular turnover. We had six months of experience, and I saw many come and go. Edgewood is a large regional corporation concerned with occupancy, however they can achieve it. I had a therapist from an outside agency remark to me after my loved one had been there several months that she was glad to see my loved one was fitting in because a lot of people do not. And several months later, that was the case.

I have been quite impressed with the facility and staff and the care they provide for my parents. They are open, friendly and respectful to my parents and their visitors and family. This facility has three levels of living; independent living, assisted living, and alzheimer care. The apartments in the assisted living are clean and well cared for and my parents are comfortable in theirs.
