My father was at The Villas at Brookview for a couple of months. I wasn't satisfied with the care. The place wasn't necessarily not clean, but it wasn't my standard of clean. As far as attending to the residents, I had too many bells go off. My dad was always complaining about how they'd leave him in the bath for really long, like two hours one day. It was always because they were short of staff. My dad's skin was very scaly on his feet and ankles. He was in pain. The things that they had promised that they were going to give him for pain, like arthritis, they never did. I had to bring it myself. There were several things which I wasn't satisfied with. My dad was in a private room by himself. There weren't even chairs in there. You had to always ask if there was more than one person that came to visit him, or you had to go and get one yourself.

Had two family members stay there,. 1st had to get him out, 2nd passed away, we went to see her. The staff were rude, mean Hostile and clearly in a job that they are not qualified to do. Isn't the first time I had an disappointing time with the nurse.
so sorry my husband went there

Told us they were going to give him a lot of physical therapy it really didn’t happen. I guess what upset me the most was I was lied to about my husband being on oxygen what they told me was not true! The rooms were dirty I did take pictures also there was a language barrier for my husband.

My brother was transported to this facility from Mercy Hospital. Upon entering the facility I was walking alongside his stretcher and as we rolled by the front desk I went to introduce myself to his nurse, she abruptly pointed her finger at me and literally shouted "I can't talk to you, I don't know who you are HIPAA laws you know" Great beginning right? It gets better, the overwhelming smell of feces hit you in the face like a brick wall, and the intensity of that smell never subsided the entire 15 minutes it took me to decide, "Not here, not my brother". The room was so tiny it fit the bed and stretcher only. Outside the door of his room sat a severely emaciated patient in a wheelchair too weak and unable to situate his gown and his scrotum was visible. In the next room the patient was moaning loudly and constantly. This place is dirty and unsanitary. Worse yet, the staff was blatantly oblivious, with no sense of urgency to care to the needs of the patients that I saw and heard, as they stood talking around the front desk. At that moment I felt like I was on the set for the remake of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I wouldn't leave a pet or a stranger in their care at this facility let alone my family. Final end to this nightmarish 8pm visit was when I entered the room to inform the EMTs I was talking to Dr's about my concerns and that is when the nurse slapped her hands down, gave a loud huff, and rolled her eyes at me! That was it, I snapped, we left. I will say the Doctor was very kind and understanding of my need to feel confident about where my brother stayed. Unfortunately, his reassurance did not in any way convince me that anyone should ever be left here. DO NOT let anyone you love and want them to receive adequate care ever come here!!

The rooms themselves are big and almost all of them are private. The nursing staff was way understaffed. The aides were not much of a help. Average time of the call button being pushed to someone getting to my room was 20 minutes. There was a huge language barrier with a lot of the aides. The food was not good. I wouldn’t recommend going there. Find somewhere else if you can.

If 0 stars were an option I would also give them this. When I first arrived the receptionist staring at her computer took 5 minutes to Simply look at us and acknowledge we were there. After asking her which room I was in she made me aware that they did not know and I had to go to the nursing station to find out. The nursing station then told me the wrong room of which I sat in for nearly 3 hours before realizing this and having any other staff, and acknowledge my arrival. Was absolutely the worst experience of my life. I truly think I have PTSD for my experience. Immediately cut my pain medication by 50% which sent me into such severe pain that I had to call the ambulance for times for myself. They would then sabotage my visits to the emergency room. Which of course I was because. The food was absolutely horrible and inedible, when requesting staff to come to your room they rarely did, the rooms were rarely cleaned, I think I had the same sheets on my bed for over 9 days, and the fourth floor was reserved for long-term patients that were so unclean you could not visit that floor because it smells so poorly. I could go on and on yet I hope this is enough examples to allow you to not send your worst enemy to this place.

If 0 was an option I would select it. Was there to see a client of mine who was admitted there from a hospital. There is not enough staff on for how many patients they had. One of the staff even told me there were only 2 people working!!! The lady across the hall was vomiting blood and both staff and the nurse were in the hallway at the time. They didn't do anything until I mentioned it to them. Needless to say an ambulance was called for her, but I can only imagine what would have happened if I didn't tell them. To top it off, my client was not put on a CPAP machine that she requires when she sleeps, and did not receive her medications on time. It also took over an hour for them to help my client get into her wheelchair. When she first asked she was told that was not possible. I even offered to help and it still took over an hour. I noticed all this in less than 2 hours of being there!

Over the last 3 years my mother ended up in 5 different rehabs. This place was the worst. She was at this place for 12 days. They care was so bad the the doctor put her back in the Hospital because she developed sores on the back side of her legs because they did not keep her clean and did not use the lifts right. Not sure how a def person can be a PCA when they have to read lips. I'm sure this causes a communication breakdown. The pictures on there website do not show how this place looks.

My husband was there at Golden Valley maybe two years ago. It is a very old and run down building. It was the best one he had been until he went to his current care center. They need to update their building because it looked old and run down. The people were kind of average, and I wouldn't call the place clean. The rooms weren't spacious. He shared the room with a guy that couldn't walk, and the guy complained a lot. He was always cold and didn't want the air conditioning on even though my husband was feeling hot.

Staff have bad attitudes towards patients and their family. I had a family member stay there multiple times and each time the staff would not get her simple things that she requested like kleenex. They told her they did not have any but when family went to visit there were boxes of kleenex on counters in the hallway. Staff does exactly the opposite of what you ask them to do (i.e. shut the lights off or keep them on). Overall a poor facility that is dirty and poorly staffed. Would not recommend this place if you have other options.
