My parents are at Legacy of Farmington Senior Living. It's a smaller facility, which I really like. It's very inclusive. They have an activity director that makes sure that everybody is socially engaged, and that's been really important to us. They also have an onsite restaurant sort of cafe that serves nice food three times a day, and my parents really enjoy it. To me, the social aspect is the most important. The staff are very caring. They work together well as a group to make sure that my mom and dad have all that they need. They had a little bit of turnover, which has been rocky, and I'm sure everyone's experiencing that, but they are working towards getting it to run smoothly again. It's really a good, comfortable place. It's almost like family. My parents have an oversized one-bedroom. It's very spacious and bright. There is lots of room for all the things they weren't ready to part with yet. It has a full kitchen, which they don't use much, but it's there if they want to. It's very, very clean, and very nice. They get housekeeping once a week. It's very comfortable for them. They have a common area. In fact, they serve coffee down there every day at about 10:00 where people can gather if they want to. They have a small library that one of the residents maintains herself. They have an outside deck, which is really nice. It's a communal deck. Everybody can gather out there if they want to when the weather is cooperating. Several of the units have a deck. My parents really enjoyed being able to go out on that other deck. They've got some indoor garages that a person can rent. My dad doesn't do that, but they're available. They are attached to the building, so there's no need to go outside for groceries or something. The yard is well-kept. There's an enlarged space behind their parking lot that is green space that you can go out and enjoy it. If you have a dog, you could take it out there and let it run a little bit. There are days when the food is very good. But there are also days when it's very bad. Nutritionally, I think they're hitting the mark. Some of the food wasn't well prepared until they got the current cook. It's expensive no matter where you go, but if I compare it to the price of other properties, I would say that the value is good.

I toured The Legacy Of Farmington. The building was nice. I did not eat there, but from looking at the menus and everything, that is not superior to what was at the other facility. The staff was excellent. The lady who showed me around was very friendly. They don't even have a common area with a barbecue. There were no lights and no exterior common area at all. They had one kind of community room. There were a couple of people working on a jigsaw puzzle. Other than a weekly trip to a local restaurant, there were no organized activities. I was so disappointed, and it was very expensive.

When evaluating the Legacy of Farmington against other facilities make sure you fully understand the additional charges outside of the base rent. They recently added to the cost of living there under the guise of having to segregate the meal cost.

We chose The Legacy of Farmington Senior Living for my mom, and she's officially moving in on Friday. It was great. That's why I chose it. It's only 70 units. It's a smaller facility, so it's more cozier. It has everything that my mom's going to need, has plenty of activities to do, it has a pub, it has a library, it has a sitting area, it has a place to watch the sport, it has a rec room. It has a chapel, it has exercise, it has everything. And yet it's still a cozy building. It's nice. It has independent living, assisted living, and memory care. It also has enhanced care, which I liked. So my mom does not have to go to a nursing home. Their apartments are all together. They don't separate. Once they move into an apartment, that's where they stay. And that's what I liked. They don't have to move again. They have 24-hour care. There's always somebody there, 24 hours. They have a shuttle to the local stores, to doctor's appointments. They have their own shuttle bus. There are doctors, there are two different clinics that are within two miles of the facility, so everything is close by. They also have activities, they have exercise, they have a beauty shop, they have a movie theater room. They have just everything, and yet it's still a smaller building of units. They also have a dog that is a facility service dog, a Golden Retriever. They made the transition very smooth and welcoming for my mom. And the other thing that they have is every apartment has its own washer and dryer, laundry room in the apartment. Their food is fabulous there. Everyone raves about it and the smell is amazing. I've seen it. I haven't tasted it. I've smelled it. And then I've talked to a few residents there and they said, everything is fabulous.

The reason we chose The Legacy of Farmington is it's a smaller facility, which is what she wanted. My mom didn't want to get into one of these great, big, huge, 5 and 6 stories, with 150 apartments in there. She has a 1-bedroom apartment here, which is very nice and laid out for her. She gets all her meals. The aides are there to help her and that is what we needed. She has mobility issues, so we needed to have aides. The location worked out best for us and so far, for 5 days, it's been good. They have an activities director here so, they have activities going every day, all through the month. They have a bistro room, a library room, a pub outside, and a seating area. They all do outings in their own little bus, and I think last year or last month they went to a restaurant called Cracker Barrel and had lunch. They have the dining room and a gym here. She's going to be getting some physical therapy and they will come here to do that. They have quite a bit to offer. They have 1-bedrooms and 2-bedrooms. They have full apartments with a living room, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry. They each have their laundry on laundry in their apartments. The staff has all been wonderful, very helpful, and very caring. They'll pop into her apartment and ask if she needs anything or if she needs help with anything like if she needs to use the restroom. She's loving the food too.

My brother moved into The Legacy of Farmington and so far, it's been good. It's just really friendly and laid back. The staff is really friendly and very genuine. My brother's room is nice. The building is only 2 years old, so everything's pretty new, nice, well-lit and pretty spacious. The windows are nice and bring in a lot of light. I had one meal there and I thought it was quite good and I enjoyed it.
