We chose Whitefish at the Lakes for Mom, because it has more residents. It's a newer facility and my mom has her own washer-dryer. She really likes the food, too. The place is very neat and tidy. The staff is very helpful and has bent over backwards to assist. They have chair exercises, coffee in the mornings, singing, a walking club, and a beauty salon onsite. The cost is comparable to the area.

1st, very poor communication on their true capabilities. 2nd very poor upfront disclosure on cost. 3rd, would not breakdown cost of services they say were needed. 4th, did not provide services being paid for in a manner needed. 5th, over selling their capacity to provide true assisted living.

We toured Whitefish at the Lakes. It's about two years old. The appearance is great. It's very nice, very nicely decorated and brand new. In the kitchens, everything looks new. They have granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and things like that; it's kind of what we were looking for. The place is very good. The staff who accommodated us was very nice. My husband and I went to visit, and then his sister and her husband went, too, because they had an open house. We didn't have anything to eat there, but the dining area was beautiful. They have a little area where they have happy hour, but not necessarily alcoholic drinks. They have what looked like a little game room and stuff, and that's very nice, too. They have a nice patio outside. They were helping people do some gardening. They have these raised flower beds and stuff that the residents were doing.

My mother-in-law was at Whitefish at the Lakes. Everything was really good there. It was very nice and clean. It was very professional. The staff was awesome. My mother-in-law was on comfort care, so hospice was involved a little bit too, but the whole facility was just nice. The food was good, and the care was good. The only thing that we had trouble with was we lost some laundry. My mother-in-law lost a few items. They have a salon, entertainment, and a nice room for relaxation. It had a lot of things. They had whirlpools. So from what we could see, it was very nice.

My mother-in-law really likes Whitefish at the Lakes Senior Living. It's a newer facility. It's very clean and very friendly. What I really liked about it was that we had the sign in on two different things, and they also took our temperature because of COVID. We had to sign in and sign out, and I like that. My mom had been in a facility for years, and they weren't that cautious like that. When you're kind of a vulnerable adult, I think it's a good policy. From what I saw, they are very friendly. She likes the food. She's really happy there, so it's been really good. My mother-in-law lives very independently. She doesn't need help taking meds or anything. She gets one meal a day. She goes down to the dining room for a mid-day meal. It's a nice big meal. They check on her. She has a call button that she has to push every morning, so that they know she's up; otherwise, someone comes and checks on her. I only met one staff, and she was very friendly. It's a beautiful place. My mother-in-law talked about activities. They had Bible study. Her room is right across the hall from an exercise room. She can go in and they do group activities and those kinds of things. They play cards.

Whitefish at the Lakes provides our present needs and what lies ahead for us on the way. We will be in independent living. We can be in assisted living depending on our needs, and we can stay on the same unit. It's just a matter of additional services and what they cost. They have an option on meals; a basic plan just takes one meal. We'll have it for breakfast, and we'll eat later in our own unit for supper, or go out (as long as we're able to choose the main meal). We had a conversation with their dietitian. During our interview when we talked to the nurse, they brought a meal to us. The place is brand new, has interior parking, an onsite hairstylist, and is in proximity to churches. The music director for my church comes in and does a song for us once a week or twice a month. They've got an outdoor patio area, a social area, and there's a pub to gather in (though I don't think they serve beer). The people we've had contact with seemed to be quite knowledgeable. It's a brand-new building with 3-stories. We're getting a 2-bedroom with a balcony to the outside.
