My mother moved into Valley Ridge. It's a wonderful facility. Everybody seems to be very caring. The only thing I don't like about it is the dining room in the memory care unit. It's got a high ceiling, and a lot of the residents have hearing aids, so they hear everything. They hear the dishes being dropped and the clanging of the silverware, and dishes are tossed, they're not just set down gently. It's kind of stressful for these seniors. They have music and prayer service. They go out in the courtyard and they'll toss a beach ball around. They'll take her on a walk throughout the hallways. Her room is lovely. It's very nice and very clean. She gets to look out into a garden in a courtyard, and look at birds and flowers. It's really delightful.

One of the things that I liked about Valley Ridge is they have a point system, so I would know each month exactly what I'm paying for my mother based on what extra care she needs, rather than having it ala carte where you go over a list of each little individual thing. My mother has four friends there from her church so that would be a big bonus once she moves in. I loved the layout of the place. There are three floors, it's airy, and they all have windows that look down to the rooms below. So, you are always oriented as to where you are in the place. The studio apartment we selected had a beautiful view. It's got a big window that looks out onto a wooded area in the back and the walking path around the whole facility. She wouldn't be looking out onto a parking lot or other buildings. It's a 455 square feet studio apartment and larger than most of the other studio apartments I looked at. It was just lovely and how it was all set up. It was the only studio that had a full kitchen with a stove, oven, and a full-sized refrigerator. The staff that I met all seemed very committed and just as gracious as they could be. The lady who gave us our tours three times, seemed to know the people who live there pretty well because anyone we came across was called by their name and spoke to her directly. Two meals a day are included in the basic cost of the rent and they have dining rooms on every level of care. They also have a cafe that you can go to and it's pretty much open all day where you can get basic things, like salads, hamburgers, and such. The menu looked really good too. If they don't like something that's on the menu, they can order a la carte and they don't have to pay extra for it.

Valley Ridge is a beautiful, new, spacious building complex with independent senior housing, assisted living, and memory care. The staff is so terrific, wonderful, and caring. It’s beautifully decorated. They have a café where you can order lunch every day and dinner a couple of nights only. She would get three meals a day if she lived in assisted, but she doesn’t. The soup and hamburger I had were wonderful. They have musical entertainment, bingo, church, and can get their hair done.

The lady named Jordan at Valley Ridge was very helpful and took us around. I liked it a lot, but my mother can’t afford it yet. It had a good aura about it and was a really nice place.
