Our mother moved here eight months ago from independent living. Our family was looking for a safe home-like environment for Mom with plenty of creative activities and a warm and supportive staff. Mom needed a healthier prepared diet and a daily rhythm of life in her golden years. She found it here. She now has a comfortable apartment of her own, the privacy that she needs at times and a great staff to support her. Our family would highly recommend Carefree Living of Burnsville.

I toured Carefree Living Burnsville. However, I didn't quite realize my mom doesn't need assisted living right now. She would be more independent living so that part wasn't a fit for us. I didn't realize that it was fully assisted living. The staff was extremely friendly. They were knowledgeable about the facility. I liked the fact that the staff was very nice and accommodating. However, the parking lot had big holes. It seemed it was not being maintained as well as it could. That's one of the big negatives for me. And it was set up like a nursing facility rather than an apartment that my mother might feel a little more welcome in. And I can understand why because it's assisted living. It was clean and they were decorating it for Valentine's Day. They had little pink flowers and whatnot that they were putting on the tables, so I thought that was cute. There were only about five people in there, and they were all talking, and it was extremely loud. And I thought for my mother with hearing aids, if you got that place full of people, I don't think she could hear anything. So that was a negative for me that the dining room seemed very, very noisy. I didn't like the community; I didn't care for it. It seemed a little rundown like it could use some updating. They have a full nursing staff on site, 24 hours. But I didn't see a lot of amenities.

Majority of the rooms are very small. Entire facility needs updating Place has had a lot of issues with flooding. Not somewhere I would recommend having a family member move to.

We toured Carefree Living Burnsville. It was an older facility, and the things we didn't like about it were the elevators. They were too small to have someone trying to get in and out of the facility. To get the room the size that we wanted, we had to go up to the second or third floor. We didn't like multi-level living for my uncle. It was a great tour. It was much larger. It was an older facility, though. They showed us four different room sizes. There's nothing wrong with the facility; it just didn't fit our needs. It doesn't fit a lot of the needs of seniors that need mobility. The staff was great.

My friend feels comfortable at Carefree Living Burnsville. What sold her was that they had animals come in and visit, and she's a dog lover. They serve three meals a day and have movies, bingo, outings to different restaurants, church service in the chapel, and sing-alongs on the piano. There's a big room with puzzles and card games. The staff is friendly and outgoing. They made my friend feel very comfortable.

They wouldn’t even answer the door, so I would give Carefree Living a rating of 1. I stood and knocked and rang the bell because it was a locked facility and people who were working there looked at me but nobody came to the door, and it was during the day. It looked OK; it was small, but they had a cute dining hall and resident area. I knocked and nobody answered the door. I didn’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling from that place. I was not impressed that they weren’t opening their doors.

I visited Carefree Living. What I need is an assisted living, but they won't take my wife, who needs full time long-term care. It's a nice place, but I don't want to be separated from my wife. I want to go to a place where we both can be there. It's a nice building, and it's in a nice place.
