Have family that have stayed here and I am appalled with the stories I hear!! We have heard many complaints about bugs, Aides who do not know how to use bed pans, and the nighttime staff seems woefully untrained or motivated! If something is requested the reply if often, "We don't have that" or "We can't do that" - both of which are not the truth! We were informed that accomodations are made for dietary concerns - NOT TRUE! If you like high carb, cheap food then you're good - unless you want the food to be cooked so it's edible!! It's either undercooked or overcooked to the point that the plastic wear breaks when trying to cut it! Family isn't always notified on health concerns. We thought this had a good reputation and we have dealt with other family members in long term care facilities and know that they can do MUCH better! This place is not where you want your family!!

I DO NOT recommend this facility. The facility is NOT well maintained. Staff are OK during the day but nighttime staff needs supervision and a strong reminder that they are employed to respond to patient's needs first and foremost. My mother was treated as if she was an inconvenience to them. There are far better, more caring senior facilities available around the metro area. Check them out first!

I would reccomend this facility to anyone. The staff of this Golden living facility goes above and beyond the call of duty. My Mother has been there for three years and she is a very problematic, challenging and high management resident with real dementia issues. I have always been called and kept up to date on her status, with professional, helpful and caring staff. They contact and keep my mothers doctors and primary health care providers updated on a regular basis and when issues arise. They could not do any better! I have found a great blessing being able to have my mother there. Thank you Golden Living!!!!

My mother goes to Golden Living after she fell in the assisted living she used to stay in. She likes it in Golden Living so well, she did not want to go back to the assisted living. She loves the place. The nurses and the staff are outstanding. They are really good to her and they are wonderful. They give all the care that she needs. They give her hugs and talk to her. I can't explain how wonderful they are to her. The most important thing to me is that she is extremely happy and that she's being treated well. I am very happy that she is happy. She hasn't any complaints about the food. She has a shared room like any other nursing home, but we were able to pick a really cute room. They have everything there. They have rehab for people who come from the hospital. They treat people with dementia. They do crafts there and little things.

My mother has be in this dirty and smelly dump for one week. The staff do not answer the call lights, they got my mothers diet mixed up with her roommates and the toilet had stool dripped on the bowl, which I pointed out to housekeeping. I was told that they "only clean the toilet once a month". YUK. Even a public bathroom is cleaned at least once per day. We have been trying to get mom transferred to a better skilled nursing facility but Golden Living is making errors and holding this process up. They are a for profit facility, so I'm sure they do everything possible, even it it wrong, to keep residents. If you care about your loved one...DO NOT SEND THEM HERE.

My experiences at Golden Living Center in Bloomington have always been positive ones. The staff that cared for my grandmother and now my grandfather are always helpful and courteous, and go the extra mile to make sure their residents feel comfortable and as close to a normal life as possible, given the nature of some residents' health situations. The rooms, hallways, restrooms, and activity areas are always clean and tidy. There are many opportunities for residents to socialize and recreate, if desired. My grandmother particularly enjoyed bingo nights! The aviary is always enjoyable to watch, for visitors and residents alike, as well. The doctors and care physicians are well trained in their respective areas, and courteous to myself and my family whenever we would visit. The effectiveness of physical therapy was especially evident with my grandmother; she responded well to it after she received a leg amputation. All in all, my experience with Golden Living Center in Bloomington has been a positive one.
