I found Apple Valley Village to be a wonderful facility. My husband really likes the rehab section where he is. The people are wonderfully kind and helpful. They are always there for him. They have very conscientious people. They took time to talk to my husband, which made him feel really good, and they have plenty of opportunities to use the exercise equipment. There are activities for all the residents and sing-alongs. Plus their food is excellent. My husband has a nice and large room. It is private. It has a chest of drawers and an armoire. They allowed him to bring his scooter in. They have a wonderful exercise room and a nice meeting room as well. The only thing is we had to go buy him a small refrigerator. They have a community refrigerator, but he wanted his own.

Horrible. My mom stayed in TCU in April 2023. She had a back injury and could not walk. She would go hours without assistance waiting to be helped. Also very inappropriate attendents at night. One of them lifted my mothers legs twice after she told him to not touch her as this would hurt her back. PT is horrible as well 20 min a day.

My mother and I like Augustana Care Apple Valley Villa. I like the amenities that they have available for her, which include the meals. The apartments are nice and all had big balconies. The staff members I met were awesome.

TCU, okay. Once up to 3rd floor, in one week my mom was severely dehydrated and had a bladder infection. Same clothes from the day before, no bath for a week. I just finally kidnapped her and took her to the ER myself. Horrible care.

Apple Valley Villa was a little older than some of the other ones that we visited, but it has connected facilities for more medical care than the others. It was almost like a nursing home, or it could be like a nursing home at times if you needed that. It had a good healthcare staff, and the other big plus was it was less expensive than the others that we looked at. The rooms or apartments were adequate although the building itself was an older building. I think the Apple Valley Villa is a little more focused on the medical part of the assisted living than any of the others. They’ve got transportation to some of the local shopping, and they probably all have this, but the Apple Valley Villa has this “I’m OK” check which is a daily thing. It has a deli and a convenience store, and there is a chapel. We have some concerns for my wife’s Parkinson’s disease and what help she might need in the future and also that it is the most affordable.

Overall the facility is nice however it is very clear that the priority in care of the facility and residents is given to those on the first floor. Once a resident moves to 2nd or 3rd floor the care is much reduced. It's very obvious the facility is short staffed and sadly the nurses and aids on the 2nd and 3rd floor don't hide that from the residents. With more help and quicker responses to the residents this facility could be a 4-5 star rating.

I've been staying at Apple Valley Villa for five years now. My stay there has been fine. All of the people working there are very good. I have a one-bedroom apartment with a living room, a bathroom, and a bedroom. It has its dining room and lots of activities. They show movies and have various activities people can participate in. We normally go to the theater. It is hard to find a better location. I mean, you are right next to a clinic. They have a rehab place, s, I can almost make it to the clinic from my apartment without going outside. There are a lot of grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Everything is right next to us or either very close to us. It is very handy for couples. If one of them ends up in the rehab, they can go visit anytime they want to without going outside.

I recently moved my soon to be 96 year old father-in-law into the care facility after having lived in the Augustana Villa next door for 10 years. His wife has already been there for 6 years. As is normal for most folks, I needed to feel my way through with effort and error to get the task accomplished. My floundering was waxed smooth by the very helpful and forgiving many staff members who helped me along. For them I am very grateful and certain both of my inlaws will be well taken care of while there.

At Augustana Healthcare, there were a lot of things we wished would have been a little nicer. They were fairly short-staffed, and it seemed to me that they could have had maybe another nurse or two on the staff at any given time and a few more assistants because I do know that when my mom would need assistance to go to the bathroom, she had to wait quite a while before they would get there. The room was very small and cramped and fairly clean. It’s a fairly large facility with three floors. The first floor was physical therapy, and once you’ve reached your capacity for physical therapy and couldn’t manage on your own, then you’re moved into their nursing facility. The really negative thing about the place is that the rooms were very cramped and it would be nice if nursing facilities, at least, would have a little more privacy. Instead of having two people to a room, it would be nice if there was only one or each had their own small room.

I am very happy with my parents' apartment at Apple Valley Villa and the people that work there. I think the food is really very good. They have a swimming pool, and they have like water aerobics classes, then they have movie nights, Bingo, reading circles, and a beautiful library. They have five open computers that are huge, an outdoor living space for dining that sits at least 70 to 80 people, a 25-foot long x 4-foot wide deck for themselves, and a deli and a grocery store that is open. They've got classes that they can take, a chapel that is very lovely, and a hair salon. They have a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment with a kitchen, and they probably have 1100 sq. ft., so it is really way more room than they had and about $800 to $900 less than the last place. I would suggest more guests' parking because they don't have enough guests' parking.

The couple that I took to Apple Valley Villa liked it. It is an older facility, but spacious, and everything looked good. The staff were friendly and informative. I observed bingo, some music playing, some watching movies, and cards.

I thought Augustana was a very nice facility, and the people seemed kind, but understaffed. Whenever someone was called for it seemed to take a long time for someone to come. The staff didn't seem extremely qualified, and they weren't much for intelligent conversation. One really big issue that I didn't like was that my grandma was only being bathed every couple of days, as she was a very clean woman all of her life. However, she always had very nice things to say about the people that were taking care of her, and even had us bring them gifts once in a while, although I think that was more so they would take better care of her. :) The food was also terrible, and my grandma liked to eat a lot, so we brought her food sometimes, which was allowed. Overall, as a nursing facility I feel it was up to standard, not like you see on Inside Edition or whatever, but I think it could be run a little classier, especially with the personal hygiene issue.
