My mother was a resident at Independence Village for about 6 months and she absolutely loved it. The staff is great and their chef is top notch. Any issues, and they were all minor issues, were addressed quickly but most importantly always to our satisfaction. I should add that the only reason we moved mom out of Independence Village is so that she could be closer to family in Colorado. Two incidents happened that have always stuck out in my mind that demonstrate the quality of their staff: First was the day we were moving mom in. I was getting on the elevator and asked a gentleman that was getting on with me what floor he wanted. He responded by asking me what floor I was going to, when I told him the second floor he said that is fine. I first thought that was probably his floor but when he exited the elevator I could tell he was lost. On my way to my mother’s apartment I saw a cleaning lady who was working in an apartment and told her about this gentleman. She immediately stopped her work to go find him and assist him. The second incident occurred a few weeks after my mother had moved to another facility in a different state. I received a call from the front desk. Needless to say I was surprised to be receiving a call from Independence Village. The receptionist explained that she received a call from my mother asking her a question. This was our fault as we forgot to change that contact number in her phone. This is something that I think most would have ignored the issue because mom was no longer a resident but at Independence Village they pay attention to the small details and truly care about their residents. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Independence Village to care for your loved ones if the need ever arises.

I chose Independence Village of White Lake. One of the things I liked best about the view I have from my room is a beautiful pond with a fountain and courtyard. They have a lot of activities. There is an exercise room right next door. The washer and dryer are right next door. What I've had is very good and healthy meals. The people are very mobile, social, and everybody is going someplace, some activity.

This is a wonderful facility with the best people! My parents were there for over 10 years and they were given such great care and friendship by the staff. Every area--reception, dining, activities, housekeeping, management and caregivers went above and beyond. There is not a lot of turnaround with the staff and they genuinely care about and enjoy the residents. I would highly recommend IV White Lake!

IV white Lake was a wonderful place for our parents. They eventually needed more care than IV could accommodate, but we loved having them at IV. The activities are great as are the brunches. There are lots of opportunities for family to join the community. The shuttle driver Chris was wonderful - so sweet and so accommodating. It is a wonderful community.

Before moving our mom into Independence Village, we had mostly all of our questions answered. Once we got settled in, our questions were readily answered. (Mostly regarding meds and personal care.) The rooms are spacious, clean and organized. There is a place for everything. Chef Dan is a gem. He serves some exceptional meals and is very friendly and warm to talk to. He has many options for the residents depending on various health needs and always has many choices to choose from! Interactions with the staff has always been friendly and helpful. They follow up with phone calls and explanations and updates on our mom. The activities are endless. They are appropriately offered to the residents and family members are always welcomed to join in. Our mom especially enjoys bingo, dominoes, and chair volleyball. The 3 “Activities girls” have endless energy and work tirelessly to keep everyone busy and happy. They are so cheerful and positive with the residents and families. The field trips are also super fun and chosen perfectly for the residents interests. Chris, the driver, is super helpful to our Mom and takes her to appointments, shopping, or whatever else she needs. He keeps the residents safe and helps them load up into the van with their walkers etc. even carries Mom’s purse for her sometimes. We love IV and feel like part of their family!

We are extremely happy with the care our Mother is receiving at Independence Village. The facilities are beautiful. The staff is amazing and very helpful. The food is excellent. There is a wide variety of activities and if Mom wants quiet time she can go to her apartment. Best of both worlds.

My parents have been at IV White Lake for 4 years. We are very happy with the facility and staff. Everyone is very helpful and accommodating and go out of their way to help my parents, even when it's "not their job." Dan the chef is amazing and alot of the staff have worked there a long time, which to me says a lot. Lots of activities, would definitely recommend!

My dad moved into Independence Village of White Lake three months ago, at a time when he was dealing with deep personal loss and serious health issues. From the moment he moved in, the staff has been wonderfully kind and caring toward him, gently drawing him into activities and helping him feel welcome in his new home. He looks forward to the delicious meals, served in a beautiful dining room, and to the card games, outings, happy hours, and musical entertainment. I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a top-tier place for a loved one.

While there was a period of adjustment for my mom, life is so much better for her now. When she moved in, she was able to decorate as she wished. They have encouraged her to return to previous hobbies & activities. Art supplies are always available. She has made friends & enjoys relaxing after dinner chatting with the ladies at her table. Over the past couple of weeks she has enjoyed a boat ride at Kensington Park, going to a movie at the theater, a picnic & planned entertainment tailored to her age group at IV. Her apartment is cleaned every other week by young people who are extremely kind & friendly even to her cat. The staff is great about communicating with family both by news letters & personal calls. We added a service to avoid mix ups with medications. A staff member comes twice a day to hand out her pills. Moving to Independence Village has improved life for both my mom & her family. The people there are kind, caring, friendly & fun. Their enthusiasm & patience make it a great place to live.

My parents are 89 and 95. They are absolutely thriving there. There is always some kind of activity going on and lots of socialization. The girls come up with some very creative ideas. The staff are all very helpful and caring. They know each resident by name and interact with them on a daily basis. The dining room Is beautiful. The chefs are very accommodating and the wait staff are always very friendly. My parents are very happy with the free shuttle service that Independence Village provides. They also love the fact that they have someone to help them order from Kroger and have their groceries delivered right to their apartment. I would definitely recommend Independence Village to anyone looking for a great place to live.

I toured the Independence Village of White Lake yesterday. The whole place was very positive. It gave up good vibes. They're very accommodating. They showed me lots of things. They had excellent food. It's very appealing and very tasty. I only saw one-floor plan, so it's hard for me to judge anything else, but the one I saw was fine. They had a gym and a library. They had a dining room for small groups. In the lobby, they had sports activities going on while I was there, and they had a physical therapy room.

My mom lived in this facility for a limited time, but I can tell you that she lived in other communities and none held a candle to this one. The main reason is the amazing staff. I felt like mom had such a great team of support.

The rooms are spacious and provide ample storage. The staff is attentive and friendly. The activities staff are energetic and engaging with the residents. The food has been very tasty and good size portions. Overall, the transition to Independence Village from their previous assisted living place has been very seamless. I would recommend IV to anyone searching for a warm and inviting place to call home.

Your search is over. 5-star facility that is affordable, clean, friendly, packed with activities, and dining like you’re in a 5-star restaurant. My Mom is a rookie but already has fallen in love with it. Billi is such a dream to work with!

This facility exceeds all my expectations. I didn’t realize how many services are offered. Including housekeeping, meals in dining room and delivered to your room. Laundry, garbage pick and more. The food is great. With many choices on the menu. They even have Happy Hour. The rooms are spacious, bright and all new when you get one. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone knows your name here. The residents seem happy and well cared for. There are a myriad of activities to choose from. You can have a cat or dog. The courtyard rooms are great for your pet. I never thought I’d be happy in a care facility but I am.

Independence Village White Lake was a nice place. It just was too far for us to go. The room I saw was clean and roomy. The staff was friendly. They have arts and crafts, they sometimes go offsite for meals and trips, and they have their bingos and things like that.

Independence Village of White Lake was very nice. The staff members were very nice and very helpful. The living area had just a little bit smaller square footage. Their meal was pretty good. They have bingo, movies, and cocktail hours. When I was there the last time, they were taking around bowls of fruits with whipped cream to all the rooms to people who wanted it, and it was nice. They have a couple of courtyards. They only have three levels, but everybody has a balcony or a patio. I wanted that for my mom so she could sit outside. She likes to sit outside a lot. I wasn't that thrilled with the kitchen, however. The cabinets were a little older. It's an older facility; it's like twenty years old.

The entire staff including maintenance, kitchen staff, front desk personnel, the executive director and sales team have exceeded my expectations. They have all been extremely kind to my parents and even remember their names and things they enjoy! The rooms are beautiful and my parents particularly like their apartment overlooking the pond! They also love the balcony. My parents seem to especially enjoy any and all activities where they can interact with other residents! The residents have also been exceptionally friendly and welcoming! My mom and dad liked living at Independence Village the day they moved in, and so far, each day thereafter! I am 100% satisfied that they are safe, well fed, and happy. Oh yes - they LOVE the food! Probably their favorite thing at their new home.

My Grandma has been living here for 4 years and the staff has been great with her. It’s her home now and she likes it. Her room is nice and big. It’s perfect for her. She eats dinner in the dining room and there are activities for everyone to do to help keep them active and out of their rooms all day. I’m looking forward to visiting again when they open back up to the public.

I really liked Independence Village of White Lake. It was very clean, very spacious, and the rooms were quite large. The director was very kind. We toured pretty much all over the building, within reason, because of Covid. They seemed to have a very caring staff. They have staff there to help the residents, they just have to pull the cord on the wall. My dad had a stroke, so he has diminished use of his right side. It's very difficult for him to reach a pull cord or something of that sort. Other than that, it seemed like a very nice place.

Independence Village of White Lake has done an AMAZING job caring for and genuinely loving my beloved grandma through the covid-19 pandemic. This is a stressful time to have a relative in the high-risk age group, and it's even more stressful knowing that many senior-living facilities around the country have been hard-hit. But Independence Village has provided TOP NOTCH care and safety throughout this entire experience. From the very beginning, we regarded IVWL as part of our family, and we truly trusted them to make the best decisions for my grandma alongside us. They made conscientious decisions, and followed through with compassion and love. Although she spent a great deal of time restricted to her apartment, they delivered phenomenal meals to her room, as well as daily activities to keep their residents' minds from worrying. My grandma would regularly show off her home-cooked meals, delicious desserts, and sudoku games and puzzles in video calls - literally making us envious - she ate better and had more fun than the rest of us during quarantine! The activities department has been SECOND TO NONE when it comes to keeping the residents happy and relaxed!! Every day they have exciting adventures planned, crafts, service projects, taste tests, parades, and all around silliness to keep the residents laughing. It is downright astounding to think of how much time, energy, and love they put into planning their activities. They also regularly update a facebook page for families with pictures of the residents participating in the adventures - a great way for families (especially those of us who live across the country) to stay connected and to know what to ask about in phone/video calls! Our family entered into this pandemic with a great deal of trepidation knowing that our grandma was in what seemed to be a higher-risk setting. But now 9 months into covid, we know that she is in THE BEST HANDS POSSIBLE, and they are doing every single thing humanly possible to keep her and every one of their residents safe. My grandma is THRIVING and LOVING life, and we honestly couldn't ask for anything more. We always joke that she is having way more fun quarantining than anyone else :) And we couldn't be more grateful to Independence Village of White Lake for providing this loving, safe, fun environment for her.

We visited Independence Village of White Lake. They were our second choice. We could have gone there, but we saw another facility a little nearer to our same general area. We liked the staff, the girl at the desk, and the people would talk and say, "Hi, you'll love it here." We had lunch there, and the food was excellent.

My mother in law, my father and my step mother have all resided at Independence Village White lake. The care they received was exceptional. The apartments are large and comfortable. My dad and step mom had a condo in Mexico and when they moved in I asked him if the apartment was as nice as their condo. He got all teary eyed and said it was much nicer! The food it outstanding, over the 7 years we've had family there we shared many wonderful meals with them for holidays. The staff is the very best - they don't have a lot of turnover and they develop a relationship with the residents. They were all treated with respect and affection (and my father could be challenging!). I can't recommend them highly enough. Special thanks to Donna, Lori, Ashley, Wendy and Julie for the kind and compassionate care for my family members.

Independence Village of White Lake was in a nice, little complex with what appeared to be a very eager and helpful staff. I got the overview brochures, and we did a walkthrough of one of the apartments and a quick walkthrough of some of the facilities. I saw a basic one-bedroom apartment that was open and available, the dining facilities, the exercise facility, and the group TV room.

Independence Village was a very nice facility. It had a lot of amenities. The apartments were spacious and up to date. I love the fact that they had a lot of ongoing activities for the residents. They had a very nice dining area with a sit down dinner which I thought was really great. I also like the aspect that they had shuttle service that would take the residents out to do their shopping and banking in the local area. The pricing was very reasonable as well.

We ultimately decided upon Independence Village of White Lake. My parents have lived there over a month now. Our visiting experience was very positive. We very much enjoyed the size of the rooms. My father has the ability to come and go as he pleases. They have free laundry facility. They have a full kitchen rather than just a kitchenette. He also has a back patio. They have activities mostly on a weekly basis, and there are things almost everyday.

The main lobby area of Independence Village really looked like a 5-star hotel. It was absolutely gorgeous inside, and the outside grounds were also nice. They allow dogs on the premises, and we met with two residents who both have large dogs. The front area of the building almost seems like a little veranda with a swing and rocking chairs. The dining area was absolutely gorgeous, and the apartments were nice.

Independence Village in White Lake was good. You get an apartment sized between 800 and 1,100 square feet. The rooms smelled like antiseptic and were reasonably clean. The people were nice. The hallways had handrails in them. The rooms had some sort of decoration on the outside of the door to set your door apart from everybody else’s, I guess, so you can find your own door. I didn’t participate in most of the activities.
