My mother is in Brookdale Troy. So far, everything's been fine. The people there are very cooperative and very helpful towards my mother. They keep everybody active. The place is clean and everybody's pleasant to deal with, which I think is a really important aspect of it. They work with her for the physical therapy that she's enrolled in and the other activities there. They keep her busier than she wants to be. She's in a room that has an area for a bedroom, an area for a living room, a separate bathroom, and a little countertop for a refrigerator and microwave. She has three or four different closets. There's quite a bit of room in there surprisingly. Some of them are like dorm rooms and some are apartment-style. They've got the exercise rooms, craft rooms, dining rooms, dens to meet with the other residents and just watch television, and they bring in music people to play for them. They also have patios there for summer activities, which we're not in that right now obviously. They've got plenty of things to keep all of the residents active. They schedule card tournaments. There's something every few hours. The staff is great. I couldn't ask for a better group of people to deal with. My mother certainly doesn't complain about the food. It's clean, well kept, and they're constantly renovating, so it's a nice facility.

Brookdale Troy is our top choice for my dad. It has a very inviting atmosphere. It was very clean and intimate, without being too small. Dan, the salesperson, has been wonderful. He just seemed to know what he was doing. In the studio room of the assisted living, we were told that we can bring our own mini fridge and a microwave. They have a courtyard with lots of sitting areas.

When we went to see Brookdale Troy assisted living, we met with the sales rep guy and went into a room that was right near the front door. If we could have gotten that particular room, I probably would have wanted to go there because that's the closest place to our home. It's like ten minutes away, but the room that he had for us was way down at the end of the hall and we just didn't like it. They had big rooms though. When you walk in the lobby, my observation was, there were 3 women in there and one had her head down on her chest, kind of like she was sleeping. Another one was sitting there, reading a book, on the opposite side of the room. There was a third lady who was doing something else too. The three of them weren't interacting with each other. I even thought that you can have a lot of people and have a beautiful space, but if they're not interacting, it's not good. The sales guy said that they always like to play cards every week, and apparently, there are also more women than men. In the dining room, the tables looked smaller. I saw an activity area but it was empty. It didn't look like people were using them when we were there.

We liked Brookdale Troy. It's a nice assisted living, which is what my mom needs. The price is decent. The lady during the tour was really nice. I liked the rooms. She doesn't really need anything besides a room with a bed, a TV and a couch, so they're perfect for her. They have a list of activities like arts and crafts, and they have a piano. She met some nice people there. I went there for lunch with my mom, and it was OK.

Brookdale Troy was very nice and the facilities were nice, but it looked like some things could be improved, like we noticed that some of the cement on the outside was cracked and in need of repair. I would worry about a senior perhaps falling on that. My brother commented that it seemed like they try to get all the residents in sort of a town square area that they sit in when you first come into the facility and we weren't really keen on that. The other thing was that some of the stuff was a la carte pricing, and if they had outside activities, they had an additional fee for that. The sales person was very good about the tour and great about explaining, and I'd give her a 5. We didn't really interact with the caregivers. It was a larger facility, and we're concerned about my aunt getting lost in the shuffle. We toured the memory care side. We got a tour of their memory type areas where they had a room that was set up like a kitchen for folks that might want to gravitate to a kitchen area, and an area that looked like a nursery with baby dolls and cribs.

I like the location of Brookdale Troy, its staff, and that it's one floor. They serve all three meals.

Brookdale Troy's assisted living is fine, has a good feeling, and good and bad staff. I got my dad a bigger room, which is was quite nice and has a shower and a bathroom, a bed, a dresser, nightstand, microwave and fridge. They're only paying for the cable, which is good. Some of the staff is not able to handle my dad's needs. Overall, it's good, but we have some concerns with a few of the staff. There was a men's day when they bought them pizza, which was good. The nurse is awesome, and the director who worked with me seemed quite concerned, but some of the staff could be more caring and attentive.

My relative loves the place for the service's other than the food. The food is served cold, cold and there is no attention or tasts in any of the food. Example: dry hard meets (difficult for the elderly to cut or even chew), soups without any flavor (and we are not talking about salt and pepper), it is either thickened with some artificial agent or watery like the kitchen sink. Every once in a while they put some effort in the food and everyone can tell the difference. But my God, it's winter they want some warm food on their plates. It's not cheap living hear. The least they could do is serve warm food to their residents. And it's not only lunch and dinner they serve cold it's breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some of these residents can't speak for themselves and they wind up eating whatever they get or not at all. You are what you eat. As soon as this is fixed we will gladly put in a good review for Brookdale.

Brookdale of Troy is in a very nice metropolitan area next to a high school and several office buildings, but the building itself is very home-like. The staff is phenomenal, and the director is very involved and isn't just a salesperson. She's just amazing. It's top of the line and very clean. The rooms are small, but they provide some furnishings, like the bed and the night stand. They buy a new comforter and bedding set for all the new residents. They have nice little homey touches like that. Their layout is a little different from others. It's a multi-floor facility with corridors or neighborhoods which had separate dining areas for each little hallway area, so it wasn't so overwhelming. There were 20 to 30 people in that dining section, so it enabled you to get to know all your neighbors without being overwhelmed. They tried to place you with people in similar situations, so that was nice. The memory care looked great, and they had excellent outdoor facilities like covered porches. The staff that we passed were extremely friendly. I have a beverage and a snack, like some cookies, cheese, and crackers. They have a little snack bar for the residents and fresh water all over the place and little coffee stations, so that was nice. The food portions and presentation looks great. The coordinator, Brooke, has gone well beyond and above. She has helped me throughout my search, even though I didn't choose their place. She has been there supporting me emotionally with the patient kind ear. She has dealt with several families in the past going through a similar situation that we are. She was just an amazing resource professionally, and I was extremely impressed.

Brookdale Troy (formerly Wynwood of Troy) was very nice with friendly staff but were too expensive. The rooms were fine, adequate, and comfortable. I didn't have any problems with the dining room. For activities, they had music, puzzles, and outside groups visit.

I am impressed with Brookdale Troy because it’s a smaller facility, so I think Mom would get more attention there. They check on residents every three hours, they said. Their pricing includes everything the residents need.

My dad is at Brookdale Troy. Everything is great; everything is very good there. They're really good. I'm impressed with the friendliness of the staff. Brookdale Troy is a great place and it is good for my dad. Overall, my dad is happy there, we're all happy that he's there, and it is working out very good.

It's been a couple of months since my mother-in-law has been at Brookdale Troy. Her room is clean, neat, and sufficient for her needs. I notice that they do have gatherings where they sing and are entertained by others.

The Brookdale one (Wynwood of Troy), I was not impressed with at all. I didn't get a chance to speak to any of the staff when I visited there, but that was on a weekend, and their salesperson was the only person I spoke with. The facility wasn't very clean, and it smelled, so I wasn't impressed with this one at all.

Wynwood of Troy was beautiful. They had entertainment and a good menu, and it’s all carpeted and looked like someone’s house. The people were friendly, but it’s just was very expensive; I don’t know if the average person could afford that. The care looked good, and the people looked happy. It’s clean, there is no smell, and everybody is nice. The food looks like a restaurant.

I like Wynwood of Troy. It was a clean facility. The staff members that I ran into were really friendly. Unfortunately, they don't have any two-bedrooms which my mom wanted.

Wynwood is a beautiful, very well maintained and very clean facility. They are very good to my mom and they're very nice people. I'm very happy with them. Mom's not crazy with the food but I tried it and I thought it was good. They could improve on their entrance, they did a renovation but I couldn't understand their entrance and that needs help.

Wynwood of Troy is a nice establishment for those in need of assisted living. I found the lodgings to be very hospitable. I've actually lived in expensive apartments that weren't nearly as clean. It brings me peace of mind to think that the staff here really understands that this could be the final years of its residents, and it is important to offer them the best care. I think that care happens on a daily basis at this facility. I thought that the overall vibe of the residents was positive and I didn't hear any complaints or sense any unrest during my visit. I was there to see a great uncle of mine and he had just recently moved in. So far, he is enjoying his stay and most, if not all, of his nerves are from making a move into a new situation. It has little to do with Wynwood, in fact, they have helped him in many ways and he is starting to feel much better.

The staff was very helpful. Visiting was easy and my loved one was taken care of very well. I was concerned going into this experience that my loved one would be neglecting and unstimulated when my family was not able to visit. This was not the case and our close proximity to the center made transportation easy. Meals were prepared well and I would enjoy eating them myself. They complied well with my loved one's medical needs as well and the cots were reasonable.

Wynwood of Troy in Troy, MI is a very nice facility. This is an assisted living facility. When you step inside, it is apparent that the building is well cared for and it gives a "home like" feel. The top thing that stands out to me about this facility is the staff members. They are very helpful and so nice to the residents. It was always easy to find someone if assistance was needed. There is a full social activity schedule for the residents. I also had the chance to eat in the dining rooms. The food was very tasty. Out of five stars, I would rank the grounds a five, the common areas a five, the residents' rooms a four (they were smaller), the staff a five and the quality of care a five. Overall, I'd give Wynwood a rating of 5 stars because the upkeep in both common areas and resident's rooms is wonderful, the food is good, there are always activities and the staff is great.

My fiance's aunt stayed at this facility in 2008 for close to a year. Although I did not visit her at this time, because I had not met her yet, family members said she was really taken care of well. The one time that I had visited, in a transition of bringing her home, the staff was very caring and helped with the entire process. They shared pictures and stories of the time they had spent with her, as well as heartfelt tears of her departure. I would recommend this facility to anyone in need of excellent care. The respect and kindness that they showed to her went above and beyond the families expectations, and they were thoroughly pleased with the immaculate staff, facility and overall treatment of their residents. The nurse's and nurse aids loved her so much, and had so much compassion for what they did, it was truly unbelievable. I thank them all for their wonderful contribution to her life!

I visited several assisted living facilities in the Metro area. Wynwood of Troy is one of the best. I've spoken to a dozen residents about their experience with Wynwood, and all said they were pleased with the facility. Great housekeeping services and affordable rates. One particular resident at remarkable 91 years old, has told me she's been crunching down on their offered popcorn from a cart in the living area for the past decade! The outside area is very nice and is provided a lot of shade, perfect for those dog days of summer. I was impressed with the social activity here. The people were great, too.
