I had an in-person tour of Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby. What I liked best was that there was certainly a warm and friendly atmosphere that was evident throughout. It also suited my location preference. The staff was very informative, positive, and friendly. It was clear that she knew the residents. The facility was clean, presentable, and attractive. The sizes of the rooms were not much different than any of the other places I looked. They weren't large, but they were adequate.

The people at Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby are extremely nice. The place is a little dated, but they're doing renovations on some of their places. The place that they showed us was completely renovated and it was nice. They charge $2050 for a shared apartment, so you get a two-bedroom and you're sharing it with a stranger and then you share the kitchen. They charge $2400 for a studio that was so small that if you sneeze, everybody in the apartment can get sick. The bathrooms are old. The staff said that they have lots of activities, and the grounds in the back were nice. The view was nice. They had a nice indoor gazebo, an outdoor gazebo, and an indoor patio that you can look out. It's a beautiful scenery. The staff said you can come down or they'll bring the meals to you. She didn't say there was an extra cost for that. It was just a little bit too pricy, and the apartments were dated. They needed to be upgraded. They have a doctor that comes out to see their patients. They have in-house people that come to offer assistance getting into the bathroom, taking a bath, or getting dressed, but it costs extra. They have an actual company that they're affiliated with that will come in and offer those services. The staff who toured me called me up until we moved into the other place. She was very attentive and nice. She greeted me by putting my name on the board when I came in. She had a gift for me and she gave us a thorough tour. She gave us her undivided attention. It was a wonderful visit. I just knew that with the space there and the cost, I couldn't do it. My mother-in-law had a lot of stuff, so it was not going to fit in that place at all. I would have to get a two-bedroom just to get some of her stuff in there, and it would have cost me too much money. They need to update their apartments and lower their cost.

My brother will be moving into Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby. We chose it because it fit into his budget. The apartment he'll be in is very well appointed and will fit his lifestyle. The staff members were fantastic, extremely thorough, took us on an extensive tour, were positive, and passionate about what they were doing. They help my brother to the dining room if necessary. He will be wearing a safety alert around his neck. It's independent, but there is a nursing staff there if one is in need.

I'm very happy that I moved my mother to Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby a couple of months ago. They have made her feel very welcome and are taking great care of her. Everybody is very friendly and there are a lot of activities to get involved with. They have bingo, they play cards, they do movie nights, they go on trips to see movies, to go to restaurants, they bring in entertainment, and they do crafts. It's a very clean and welcoming environment. It was a little expensive though. The food is very good.

We have moved into Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby in Shelby Township. I think the place is great. It's very friendly, and they take really good care of you. It's exceptionally clean, and they have lots of meetings to keep you informed. I could not say anything negative about it in our 5 weeks of being here. It's independent living and the staff is exceptionally friendly. They go out of their way to help you. I can't say anything negative about them. It has far exceeded what we thought would happen. They prepare you 3 meals a day. On a 100 number, I'd give the food a 98 because you're not going to like all food. They make a good variety of food, and they have good food. They also have an exception. If you don't like the food of the day, there are some other things that you can order. They do a good job. They have all kinds of activities and programs every day. I haven't been involved with them because I've been sick, but there are 2 or 3 activities every day. They have a salon, but they don't have a gym. They do have an exercise room and exercise programs. They have a great variety of programs. I would say I'm getting what I paid for.

We toured Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby and I liked everything about it. I liked it right from the very beginning, the staff was very welcoming and the facility itself is very nice. I was taken for a very thorough tour, I was quite impressed right away. And that's where I'm taking mom back to go visit because I first went by myself. The rooms were nice, they were nice apartments, and I was impressed. I like the fact that the bathtub had a cutout so that she could just step in easily into the bathtub. It was spacious, it was very roomy, the dining area was big and it was clean. It was nice because she would have access to coffee and tea 24-7. They had residents socializing everywhere in the whole facility, it was very nice. The atmosphere was very welcoming. They had a sign that welcomed me and my mom and they greeted me right away. I don't have words to describe it, I just was very impressed with it overall without a doubt.

I visited Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby, and it was real good. Everybody agreed on everything except for the money part. It was the all in one place kind of thing, where everything was covered. The thing is you have to pay for everything, which is not necessarily a bad thing (especially if you are really needy). It is fun to have them all covered upfront, but since I only really need a place to take a shower where I won't fall down, it is not my cup of tea. The staff was wonderful and everybody seemed pretty happy. The facility was very clean and very well kept. They had movies, activities, a chapel, and everything that you could ever want in a facility. The living atmosphere was really first rate too. Even though I was not a resident yet, they brought us lunch.

My mother was at Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby. We chose it because it's close to home, her doctors, and her family, and financially it was within our budget. We're very happy with it. It's a very nice location. I love that they have different activities, and it pretty much covers anything. Their menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner were phenomenal. Everyone I've interacted with has been great. Unfortunately, my mom was only there for a few days, and then she was back in the hospital, so we haven't been at the facility very much besides moving things in. It's a very nice facility. Everything is very clean. They just put in new flooring in her particular unit, and she now has a walk-in shower. She can take her walker literally right up to the side of it, and she doesn't have to step over the side of the tub or anything. It's just a couple of inches, and she can take care of her business. They had exercise classes, games, and movie nights. With COVID, there were some limitations with the gatherings, but every day of the week, there's a menu of options. She was only there for a few days, but everything that I've tried of their food was very good, and she was very happy with it. I love all the activity options. They definitely keep you busy if you want to be. It's fairly reasonable, considering a lot of other places out there are way more expensive for everything that they offer.

My mother moved into Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby. I like the management. I visited a few times, and the place is really nice looking, clean, and kept up. The people seemed to be sitting around and doing whatever as much as they could with COVID. The management team is really nice and has continued to be responsive to any issues that I have. They take care of everything that she has a problem with because she is older. She screws up the remote or whatever, and they are real happy to help her, always with a smile on their faces. That was my number one thing. The second thing is it's close for me. I live on 9 Mile & Ryan and she's on 20 Mile & Ryan, so it's easy access for me to go visit her. I can get there in 20 minutes, and that was important because I visit her every week. With COVID I'm her designated caregiver, so I'm allowed to come in there. They are super concerned with COVID. They're always cleaning and posting signs and careful when they check us in for taking our temperature, sanitizing our hands. They're real careful about that and retesting. She's been tested three times since she's been there. Better safe than sorry. Her room is really nice. She's on the bottom floor with a patio door. She actually got one of the bigger rooms that became available when we were looking. They put new carpeting and painted everything and cleaned it real nice, put new faucets in, and a new garbage disposal. They cleaned everything up really nice when she moved in. I go there and I see all her meals, plus I've tasted some. I know on their brochure they said it's like restaurant quality. I personally wouldn't say it's that, but it's probably better than some of the others. Sometimes she doesn't like the food, but I personally think that's just because of her preference, because she's 91 and picky and complains about everything. I've seen a lot of the food there. If she thinks there's a problem with something, she'll save it for me. They're very responsive if something's wrong, they bring something down for her, but generally I think the food is OK. I wouldn't call it restaurant quality, sometimes it's a little cafeteria-ish, but it's probably better than some places. I told my mother it's food service for 130 people and they're having to serve it room-to-room right now, so it can't be always perfect. For dinner, it comes at 4:00 in the afternoon, but she's not gonna eat dinner at 4:00 in the afternoon. She has to warm it up whenever. It's not perfect right now, but generally it's OK food. They have a bunch of activities. My mom just doesn't participate in anything. She has problems walking around and going, and she's afraid of COVID. They have had some activities. They've invited her especially the holidays. I've seen them posting things around. I don't think they're getting a lot of participation because of COVID, but I think they're doing the best that they can do considering the situation. They always try to include her and invite her and encourage her, but she just doesn't want to go. I really like the staff. The facility is really nice. They really keep it up, the grounds and everything. It's real pretty out there. They're doing what they can do. Under normal times they seem to have a lot of things going on.

We visited the Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby. I liked the facility. The apartments were large and spacious. It had nice-sized kitchens, which I liked, and I thought my mom would like it. The staff member that we went out with was extremely friendly and very personable. She seemed to enjoy her job and working with the people at the facility. The drawback my mom had was the location. It was kind of far from where she was in the area and far from where she does her shopping and stuff. The other thing she didn't like about it was that it was backed up to woods. You either looked out the front window to their road or you looked out the back window and were right in the woods, and she didn't like that. The people were friendly and the place was nice. We didn't get a tour of that place, so we only got to see the apartments. We saw a two-bedroom. We walked into the kitchen and the family room. Off to the left side of the family room was one bedroom and off the to right side was another bedroom. They were spacious. The kitchen was large and roomy compared to a lot of the kitchens we've seen, so that was a plus. I thought it was a nice place. I only met one lady but she was super friendly.

Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby was very nice. The staff was very accommodating, personable, and professional. However, the kitchen facilities were small, and they did not have an in-room washer and dryer. They have a library, card tables, gathering rooms, and exercise rooms.

I was really impressed with the apartments at Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby. They had a few different kinds like a shared apartment where they both have their own bedroom but share the community area. They had a community room if you want to have a birthday party or Christmas get-together. It has a stove in there and a refrigerator so you can do cooking and have your family there. The staff was very friendly and very willing to help you. They were calling me for a few weeks afterwards. The dining area was very clean and very well kept. It's like a restaurant.
