The staff at Grace Haven are absolutely top notch! Since before move in the staff have been extremely supportive, kind, helpful and have went above and beyond for us. Grace Haven is always clean, the activities are fun, and my dad loves the outings to local restaurants. I am very thankful to have found Grace Haven and the amazing staff who I feel are more like family.

Grace Haven employees truly care about the residents and go out of their way to make it a home away from home atmosphere. They are so kind and caring. My father was well taken care of during his last days after being there for several months. When he passed away, there were tears of sorrow, comfort and memories shared by the staff. When we moved him from another facility to Grace Haven we all became part of their family as well. Their support and help was outstanding for which I have been extremely grateful. This is a rare community that is not found in other facilities. They were a true answer to my prayers for help. The employees in all areas are an extremely valuable asset to Grace Haven organization, and I hope that management recognizes they are the reason for this facilities success and value them as such. Congratulations to them all for the hard work they do. Thank you so much. (i want to recognize them all by name, but I’m afraid I’ll forget someone by accident. You all know who you are.

The name, Grace Haven reflects how I feel about the entire experience and staff. In 2022, we moved our Mother to Grace Haven to join her sister, our Aunt, who had moved in to GH a few months before. What a gift it is to have them close together (in their hometown) during this part of their journey. Because of extenuating circumstances, I was able to stay with Mom for several nights. Everyone on the Team was so kind and helped me navigate my own experience. Having lunch and dinner with some of the residents was an experience I will not forget. They shared their past accomplishments, thoughts, and love for family. I will cherish those conversations. To be honest, this is a journey for the whole family, with a mixture of emotions from grief in facing the changes to happiness & joy and deep reflection. To have such a warm and comforting GH home and most importantly a Team of Caregivers who are compassionate, respectful and always responsive is such a gift. To the Team... Thank you to the entire Grace Haven Team for your dedication to our loved ones! Our elders deserve acknowledgement and respect and you continue to fulfill that mission everyday. - grateful 4 GH

My mother and father were residents at Grace Haven in St John’s at different years. Five years after my mother’s passing, it was time for my dad to move to a nursing home. He, along with us children, absolutely wanted him to live at Grace Haven. The staff made it easy on dad and us children. All were so very welcoming. Dad noticed somebody he knew before he moved in. Missy made sure he had a place at that table for all of his meals. They also asked, in advance, what his favorite foods were and other questions to better get to know dad before he moved in. They offer different activities daily, ensuring they have plenty of opportunities to socialize with all of the residents. We also appreciated, and our dad looked forward to going out to lunch at different restaurants. Grace Haven provided transportation for their residents. The rooms are spacious with plenty of light because of the beautiful bay windows. My parents felt at home at Grace Haven. When I took dad out to lunch and brought him back, he would come in and say, “I’m home!” Our family has recommended Grace Haven to people who have inquired about getting their parent(s) moved to a nursing home. We are extremely grateful for all of the love that the staff provided every resident. Anytime that us children had questions, we received responses promptly. Our parents were truly blessed to live at Grace Haven.

I have checked with Grace Haven Assisted Living & Memory Care. It would be my first pick, but they have a waiting list. I like that most people leave the doors open so that there's more social stuff. I like that they have to go down to the dining room for each meal. It seemed more homey. I like that they will keep you right through to the end, so you don't have to move away again unless you need a lot of medical care. The staff I interacted with was super nice. She was very helpful. She had lots of information. It was good. The cleanliness was very good. There's a community room with couches and stuff like that. They have exercise and they have religion stuff, all of that in the dining room.

My aunt is in a room with a large living area which includes a living room that was large enough for her own furniture to feel like home. We brought in her dining room table and 4 chairs as well to put in the kitchen area. Lots of space to visit with family and still kept the bedroom and bathroom private. She uses the mini fridge and microwave to warm up cookies from home. Very warm feeling overall. The staff is very prompt about returning my texts or emails even on weekends.

My mom is not in Grace Haven Assisted Living & Memory Care yet, but I was very impressed with the staff when I dropped in there impromptu, twice. I was well taken care of in terms of any questions I needed answered or showed anything on the spot. They were very accommodating, which was part of the reason I chose them. The seniors that I saw there were very engaged with the staff, so I was impressed by that. The place was clean and smelled good. We saw bingo when we walked in, they take pride in their activities and they had a variety of things that they do. I saw a studio and a 1-bedroom. They have a green space and they have a deck area off of their dining area where they were grilling hotdogs for the residents there. And they kinda overlook a baseball diamond.

Our mom was a resident at Grace Haven for almost two years. During that time, the staff became her bonus family. She enjoyed hearing about their life events and she truly valued their friendship. During her final week, the staff did everything they could to make Mom (and us) comfortable. They were so attentive to all of our needs. A sincere thank you to each member of the staff who enriched her stay.

Very cozy community, feels like home from the minute you walk in the door, clean and smells good. Staff were all smiling and Management were present and out in the dining room with the residents fully engaged. Rooms are spacious, and you can make it your own space. Lots of activities on the Calendar, Everyone said hello or offered some reassurance which made us feel like this is the place for our Dad. Very happy

My father has been at Grace Haven several months now and we could not be more pleased with his situation and care. Grace is a small, nurturing environment and it really feels like a family. I knew everyone’s name - both staff and other residents - within two visits. The emphasis is on personal connection, and the staff are accountable, caring, and very present. I never, ever worry that my father will get lost in the busy shuffle of a huge facility. He has a lot of special needs that are always met with professionalism and patience by the dedicated team. We appreciate that Grace is sweet and cozy and feels and looks more like a personal home than something institutional. In the lobbies there are always treats and snacks and other welcoming and thoughtful touches, and the dining room is intimate rather than overwhelming. (The food is really tasty, too.) Dad’s apartment is light (nice windows) and attractive and perfectly suited to his needs and lack of mobility. It has a little kitchenette and really everything he and visitors might want. Dad enjoys the activities, especially Bingo and chair exercise and cookouts on the deck, and also special days when residents get to see animals or an antique car show or an Elvis impersonator or kids trick-or treating or…..anything fun and different! The activities staff make a big effort to schedule a lot of interesting things every day, and to engage the residents. Dad participates in at least one activity per day. Grace is overall a warm place, responsive and attentive to both resident and family. I find the management very accessible, too, which is quite different to large facilities I visited when looking for a new home for dad. I feel that everyone knows my father as a person and cares about his well-being. I am not anxious about his care and safety as I was when he lived at home. I am grateful we found Grace Haven. It’s a reassuring and positive environment for my father. I would fully recommend it to anyone.

The intake process was hard, and gut wrenching. It would not have happened without The staff at Grace Haven. Jen, Evelyn, and Chris were absolutely fantastic in encouragement, helpfulness and patience. They set up the room beautifully.

My parents recently moved to GH. They have a nice little apartment that we were allowed to fix up in an extra “homey” way with their personal things. Mom loves to watch the birds and look out at the trees from her bed by the window. The staff is kind and caring and my parents are very fond of them. My mom often says, “They are all so nice here “ There are many events and activities planned throughout the month for the residents to enjoy…everything from travel logs and Ted talks to happy hours…something for everyone. Residents are encouraged to be their best selves. GH is a very nice facility that just doesn’t feel like a senior home…and we all felt welcome right from the start. I no longer have to worry about my parents remembering to take medications on time or having to run out for a haircut. It’s all handled. I highly recommend Grace Haven in St Johns for your loved ones!

We just got my Mom settled into her new home at Grace Haven. The apartments are a good size and the big windows help make the apartments bright and cozy. The staff have all been amazing helping make this a possibility for my Mom. Each staff member has went out of their way to accommodate my Mom and make her feel comfortable. My Mom has even participated in some of the provided activities. I know she had to feel very comfortable and safe in her new environment to begin to make new friends within days of moving in. My Mom is doing very well under their care.

From the initial meeting and walk through with family members to move in, administration and staff have been extremely professional. Our mother and family have been welcomed and treated with the utmost respect and care. The family atmosphere between staff and residents has given family comfort in knowing that our mother is in the best of care. She has the best opportunity for success and comfort, she refers to her apartment as home.

Grace Haven Assisted Living & Memory Care had a nice room setup. Their price was less than the other place I toured, there was probably about over a thousand dollars difference a month. They had separate rooms where you could have a bedroom and a living area and so forth. And their closet area was better. It has combinations of liveability, price, and just a pleasant kind of atmosphere. My aunt used to live there. The upkeep of the place was in good conditionl; it's well cared for. It's probably only about a mile from the St. John's Hospital, and a mile or two away from restaurants.

There is always something going on for the residents. The staff organizes lots of fun activities. The staff is AMAZING! They treat your family almost like you would. I don’t worry about my mom now. Her apartment is just the right size for her and does not have a hospital feel to it, which I really appreciate. Grace Haven has a really good reputation in the area. It was actually through other people that I found them. The only negative comment I hear is the price. I honestly feel the piece of mind is worth the cost. Mom is happy and I have no regrets :)

My Dad has been a resident of Grace Haven for almost 2 years. His first year was in Assisted Living before being moved to Memory Care. Since moving to Memory Care, he chooses to spend much less time in his room by himself. Instead He participates in group activities far more than he had before. Games, exercise, and creative projects are new favorites of his. Also, anything involving food. The dining staff does a great job. All the staff at every level in Grace Haven know my Dad and our family on sight. We interacted with every department and have been listened too and treated with courtesy when we have asked to make changes or just had questions about care. The personalized care that I see my Dad receiving from the Grace Haven staff is greatly appreciated, both by him and my family.

My grandmother was in a nursing home that was horrible . She was miserable and her care was disastrous. We chose to move her to Grace Haven and it’s been an amazing experience so far. My grandmother seems very happy. Her behaviors have lessened and she acts more at home. The facility is beautiful and very homey. They staff has also been amazing.

My mother is very happy living at Grace Haven. She loves her apartment. She loves all of the activities. She rarely skips an activity and appreciates the variety - music, exercise, games, etc. She really appreciates the staff members who are friendly and helpful and always look out for her. She has made new friends and enjoys them too. One of the most reassuring things for me is that Mom says she feels safe there.

My mom didn't want to leave home for years, even though it was the best for her as she had become very shut in. Now, she has friends, enjoys speaking with visitors, has positive relationships with the staff, and has increased her interest in her family. Overall, moving to Grace Haven has been a life saver. Mom enjoys her time there and the activities her and her friends get to do. We are all happy.

I moved my mom from Detroit to Grace Haven so she could be closer to me as we observed that she was in need of more assistance. From the beginning , the staff helped mom with her daily care and kept her engaged in activities as her dementia advanced The staff was always respectful of moms needs and always treated mom with dignity . When it was time for hospice to become involved, there was a team approach to make moms final days peaceful. For this we are very grateful. Sue Neuder

If my step dad gets to choose, my mom will be at Grace Haven Assisted Living for convenience. It’s newer but not that inviting and homey. It’s more cold and had an odor in it when we walked by the dining room, which was a little disgusting. The people who run it have been fine. They all loved my mom, and she loved them. Some of the patients didn’t look well kept. There was one wing for the Alzheimer's and dementia people that was connected to the other wing; sometimes activities were done together.
