My father is at American House Freedom Place Rochester. It's a one-story building and it's divided into two sections. There are 20 residents maximum on each side. You have to key in and out of it because it's memory care. He has a private room, but we had him in a semi-private room when he began. It's clean, and it doesn't smell. They keep the residents clean and safe. The food looks institutional. My dad has a problem with getting up in the middle of the night and making a mess. They do their best to change his bedding and clothing. They have a hair salon, a mobile dentist, games, bingo, and movies, and a really nice courtyard.

American House Freedom Place in Rochester was a very beautiful establishment. They are very kind and welcoming people. The lady was a charming woman and gave me the information that I needed. She was caught off guard because I was a day early, but she did a wonderful job. I was very satisfied. The rooms were very clean and a nice size. I would go there if the situation were different. The living atmosphere was very congenial, organized, and professional. The dining area was very clean and well organized. They have a lot of games and interaction going on. The people who are there are very happy. It had a very positive feel overall.

The memory care at American House Freedom Place Rochester is a totally separate building. It was like its own entity, so I liked that aspect of it. It would be perfect for someone who is going for memory care only. Everything about that place was great. They had a crafts room, and they had an exercise bike in the hallway. There was not a whole lot there because it's all memory care, but it's good for that purpose. The layout of the rooms was nice. The staff was super informative, nice, and thorough.

I toured American House Freedom Place Rochester. It seemed like a depressing area where they had the memory care locked up. It just wasn't as lively. I just got the bad vibe. The staff were great. Everybody was great actually. They're very informative. The staff was a great girl, and everybody was pleasant, but they have to be. However, I didn't like memory care. They had a salon, a little workout room, and a reading room. In terms of location, it's near the expressway. Easy on, easy off, and boom, you're there.

When we did a tour of American House Freedom Place Rochester, we didn't see too many people. It would take me about 18 to 20 minutes to get there; that's one of the things that would hold me back. I want to get something closer to home. The price is reasonable. The room looks fine, it's little studio apartments. The staff member at the tour, she was fine. They have no gym, no library. That doesn't matter because my husband wouldn't use them anyway. They had very long halls, and I'm afraid that they won't know if he falls on the ground or something. They wouldn't be able to see that because most of the doors are shut. They always say, "But we go by them, 15 times a day," or whatever. I don't care, he could be in his room, and he doesn't know how to call you. He could be on the floor and can't get up when he falls. So, this is something I have to worry about. I don't think they can improve much because it's their layout, it's the long hall. I saw only one other man there. That was not good. It was clean; there was nothing on the floors or anything.

American House Freedom Place Rochester was OK. It just didn't sit well with me. I just didn't feel it when I walked in. The staff was active with the residents and very helpful. It was a single story, and it was nice, seemed clean, and well maintained. The staff seemed to be engaged with the residents. I didn't see a library or a pool. I saw a little bistro area where you could sit and eat if you wanted to. I noticed an area like a media room where they had a big screen TV and there were some seniors (more memory care) sitting around and watching TV. I noticed the staff was there and interacting and keeping an eye on things.

I visited American House in Rochester. They offer memory care, but the reason I didn't pursue it was they couldn't show me a room that my wife would be in, and I didn't want her seeing something that wouldn't be happening so I canceled it. It's nice though; it pretty much has everything you need there. I didn't bother to go and see any of their apartments, but the reception area was nice. The staff who helped was fine; I didn't have any problem. They sat down with us and talked to us about their facility, and they spent time with us. It sounded to me like they have an entire month that they set up different activities for the people there. They can participate in those. It sounds like a nice place; I wouldn't give it any negative comments. I just went there to see if they have facilities for people with memory problems, and they do, but they didn't have any room available to show me so I didn't bother. The layout was nice, though, and the cleanliness, as far as I can tell, was good.
