Marwood Nursing and Rehab is very good. I like the staff. They are very caring. The facility is clean and user-friendly. My mother-in-law likes it there. She has no complaints about the food. She doesn't eat much, but the food is fine. The dining area is nice, clean, and big. We chose this place for her because it's the closest to us.

The care that Marwood Manor Nursing Home provides is good. They seem to be taking pretty good care of my wife. They have shared rooms, but she's in a room by herself because they'd like to keep people like that so they don't pass any infections on to someone else. The therapists are good. I've had experience with them myself 9 months ago and they were also very good. The staff has always been positive. I like them. The food is pretty good. Once in a while, you get something that you don't like, but the majority of the time, the it is good, especially breakfasts. It's a pretty good place and I'd certainly recommend them. The central court area is beautiful that it makes you feel better when you go by and look at it in the windows. The maintenance is good. The young girls that help you with things like bring you your lunch, breakfast, and dinner and help you with the showers and things like that are very good and very kind. They have always been nice and courteous. There was only one time that I had trouble with one staff member. I told the nurse about it and it was immediately taken care of. So, they were prompt, good, and fair.

I would not want my loved ones admitted to Marwood Manor. Especially if they are an invalid or in a wheelchair. Marwood is perpetually "understaffed." Marwood is very expensive when your Medicare runs out. It costs the patient $750 a day whether they are efficiently staffed or understaffed. i would suggest asking Marwood what their staffing level is before you admit a patient. I would suggest to Marwood that they only allow the numbers of patients that they have efficient staff available. I can understand being understaffed occasionally but not every day of every week. I realize that Covid caused understaffing problems but that doesn't help the patient waiting for care and paying $750 a day for it. Have only enough patients that you have staff for. The registered nurses have too much power to speak horribly to the guests there to visit and help their loved one. They can effectively scold someone if needed but to yell at them seems mean and inappropriate. The staff under them were very kind and professional at all times.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have visited my friend many times. I find the staff friendly and very helpful and caring. I was surprised because I didn't think they would be so caring. I was pleased to see the wide selection of foods the residents are offered. They meet each person's food requests. Someday if I need to become a resident of a nursing facility, I would choose Marwood Manor.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am very disgusted with how my grandfather was treated at this facility after the recent death of his wife. The social worker, a nurse, and the administrator have displayed a complete lack of empathy and no understanding of the grieving process. Avoid sending your loved one here at all costs. Red tape and the bottom line appear to be more important than genuine human compassion and care at this place.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom is at Marwood Manor. Her room is semi-private. It is new. The staff is excellent; that’s the best part. The staff is very helpful and on top of things. They’re patient. They’re very good. The food, most of time, is very good, but there are days when I wouldn’t like it myself. However, they really work to make the residents happy with what they’re eating. They have alternatives, and if they don’t like that, they would bend over backwards trying to find something that residents would like. That’s what so wonderful about them. They have bingo, art class, art therapy, music therapy, and they have lots of volunteer groups coming in. They do parties like on Valentine’s Day or New Years or Mardi Gras. There is always something to do there.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I had the opportunity visit my Brother while he was being cared for at Marwood. I would extend my sincere gratitude to the staff, all involved in the 24 hour care my brother received during his stay. While spending the days with him, during my visit's,I saw first hand the care and compassion he received. The staff went out of their way to care for him and to see his needs were met. I live up North and would call to see how my brother was doing until my next visit, the person on the other end of the phone was always polite and understanding. I was referred to bring my brother to Marwood by close friends who had their loved ones being cared for at Marwood, I am so glad I listen to them. I want to extend my gratitude to the staff at Marwood and all involved who cared for my brother. During the holidays you were with him and celebrated along side him and I thank you for that. A sincere thank you to the all the staff, for all the long hours in put in 24-7 to take care of our loved one. Respectfully

I visited this facility

It is unfortunate that my wife and I have only visited her grandmother about 5 times since she was placed in this home. My wife's parents transferred her from a different home a little over a year ago. What I can say is that it seems when we do visit her she is exceptionally happy both with the visit and with the facility and their staff. From what we have seen she has adequate space in her room and she is allowed reasonable freedom to decorate her space. She is regularly bathed and hygiene is not an issue as it had been at her previous home. the building is kept quite clean and presentable. It does smell a bit, old people and hospital smell together but such should be expected. The staff is very helpful for the most part. We have really only had trouble with one staff member who was rather short with my wife when she inquired about her grandmother's conditions(meds, physical therapy, etc). However the rest of the staff so far has been friendly and her grandmother has only complained about the one staff member(same woman my wife had the issue with). Overall we and the rest of the family have all been pleased with this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

This place was overall great except for a few grumpy workers there. Its a very clean home and they take great pains to make sure the residents are comfortable in every way. The food was amazing as well. They have plenty of activities for the residents like bingo, craft day, music day and much more. They make sure that the family is involved as in eating dinner with the resident. Playing bingo with them too. The social worker there was very understanding and so was the physical therapy department. Everyone made sure we knew what was going on with my mother. If we had any questions they were able to answer them all or find someone that could. Overall the place is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone in the same situation as our family.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

When my 86 yo Mother needed more care than my Father could provide, I looked at a couple Of other options before selecting this facility. We.ve had other family members stay here, including my Grandmother and my Aunt and Uncle. This facility is a subsidiary of Port Huron Hospital. Mercy Hospital is also just two blocks away. Staff are always available and are very willing to assist. They communicate with me weekly to see if there are any concerns about mom's room, care, and I can always call and ask the nurses how moms health is at any time. This is a plus for me as I live 45 minutes away. They have plenty of lounges and courtyards which makes visiting pleasant. The newer rooms are nice and have two residents to a room. However, Some of the older rooms are very small and have been grandfathered to include three beds. Mom was placed into the center bed of one of these older rooms. Once I told staff that I wanted her moved they started to look. It took a little long for this move to happen because we wanted to find a good roommate and location. However, just because they can put three people into these older rooms doesn't mean they should. The facility is clean and some of the original wings show their age. The main dining room can sometimes be very crowded at times. But they have chairs for guests and you can order meals so you can eat with the resident. The food is very good, and plentiful. I do wish they served more fresh fruits and fresh veggies, but I understand why they don't. Two pieces of clothes and a blanket have disappeared from laundry. I am impressed that they include laundry and incontinence care in their base fee. Overall, I highly recommend this facility.
