My wife was entering the advanced stages of dementia and I could no longer give her the care she needed and deserved at home. We placed her in a place that turned out to be a bad match for her so when we started looking for another facility we took our time and did our duedelegence. We narrowed it down to a couple places but Arden Court just felt right to me and I haven't been disappointed. I visit her every day for a couple hours so I observe a lot when I'm there. The front office staff is great. The caregivers treat residents with respect and kindness. The medical team is top notch. They're great about keeping me informed and staying on top of any medical issues large or small. The rooms are kept spotless and if my wife's weight gain is any measure of the food than I'd have to say they do well with their food prep and menu. They offer a variety of activities but don't force participation. The grounds are expansive and we'll kept. Residents are free to roam around but are always being watched. Arden Court has worked out well for my wife. It gives me great comfort knowing she's being well cared for.

Arden Courts of Livonia has different sections to it. It has a huge, fenced-in area in the back with a gazebo, benches, tables, and a walkway that goes through it. You can go, sit outside, and talk to my wife or whomever is in there. The rooms have one bedroom and they are all private. They have a common sitting area, and the place is immaculate. All the caregivers give great care to my wife, and she is very happy there. All of her clothes and everything that I've given her is still intact. If there's ever a problem, they call me immediately. The doctors come once a week, and a nurse is there every day. If my wife has a problem, they call me and ask if it's OK to do this or that or whatever they're going to do to take care of her. They're very patient around her. They have ongoing activities all the time, and they can partake in them if they want to or not. They do drawings, paintings, and that kind of stuff. My wife was drastically underweight when she first came in there. She only weighed about seventy-seven pounds. Now, she's gained thirty pounds and she's back to her normal weight. Their food is very healthy and she looks forward to their meals in the dining room. It costs $6900-to-$7000 a month, but for the peace of mind I get, the level of care she receives, and the kind of people who work there, I feel that I am getting value for my money. My wife even had a bunch of diamond rings on her hands, and I tried to get them off of her before she went in there, because I figured that some of the workers would take them. After she was in there about a week, I got a call stating that somehow they had gotten all her rings off, put them in a bag, and said that I had to come and pick them up. That was probably about $9000 worth of jewelry, or maybe more. She wanted her jewelry back, but they told me to buy her some costume jewelry instead, which I did, and she's been happy. She can't tell the difference between the real stuff and fake. With that kind of honesty, I was totally impressed. They have an optometrist, too, who comes in to give people eye exams or make glasses if they need them, which my wife did. A dentist comes in and cleans the residents teeth, as well, if they want to. They have ongoing medical procedures for the residents of the facility. With that, I've been very happy with their services. It gives me great peace of mind knowing that my wife is being taken care of, and all you have to do is call for an appointment to see her. She's been vaccinated, and so have I, and they will allow me to take her out of the facility if I desire to do that. I couldn't ask for better care for my wife.

The facilities at Arden Court are very nice. The outside landscape is very nice and the building is well maintained and thoughtfully laid out. The activities are very nice for this population of adults. The activity personnel are always friendly and upbeat and try to engage all the residents in their activities. The parties and celebrations they have done are well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by the residents and family/friends. The volunteers they arrange to do activities are well received and know how to engage the residents.

When I walked through Arden Courts of Livonia the residents were holding their heads down and were just sitting outside of their rooms. The place had all these locked doors; one person was trying to get out and they were trying to keep him in. The people who came to our house to do a follow up was very nice, but the place did not give us a good feeling at all. There were no TVs allowed and other things to keep the residents busy were not allowed.

The rooms were kind of small at Arden Courts, and the place was very high. They did seem like they really were caring for your Alzheimer patients there. It was just as clean and nice as the one up North, but what swayed me to look more up North is basically the price because it is like $1,200 cheaper to keep her up there than to bring her down here. It looked like everybody that was there was very happy and sociable, and they do have activities. We didn't get to view any of the activities while we were there. If price wasn't a problem, yes I would recommend it.

I visited Arden Court assisted living facility on November 8, 2011. In general, I thought the facility was very well organized and the staff working in the facility showed professionalism in all areas of their professions. . The grounds of the facility are beautiful and the landscape was well maintained and coordinated. The common areas of the facility had a beautiful layout and structure. The neighborhood surrounding the facility was also beautiful. In the resident’s rooms the carpet drapes, and bedspreads were of the entire same decor that match the paint on the wall. The decor was also in earth tone colors. The residents' rooms are very clean and very well kept and did not smell. The overall structure of the facility I would give it a five star rating. The staff and management of the facility are professional and task oriented in all specific areas of their job duties. I think the residents get excellent care and the staff and management treat the residents like family. While I was there, I noticed that the residents were very well groomed and they appeared to be clean and dry without any body odor. I also noticed that the recreation room and activity room are in state compliance and are also supervised by staff members. Overall, Arden Court is an appropriate placement for anyone and I would recommend it to anyone because I believe that they would do well there. I would give Arden Court a five star rating in all areas of its expertise.
