I have been over here in Grandhaven Manor four or five times before I decided to move in. It is very nice. It has a lot more than just independent living. It has a lot of amenities, and I'm happy with that. They have a barber shop, a craft room, a little store, a movie theater, and an exercise room. The people have been very helpful. I put in a work order yesterday morning. By noon, the person was there. The rooms are bigger than I was expecting. So, I like everything about it.

I've been on the independent living side of Grandhaven Manor. The experience was pretty positive. I like the activities that they have. I visited the facilities, and they were fine. They were very small, but still had nice facilities. The size of the units was small. The staff members were very helpful. I like that the place was well-maintained. Parking might be an issue for people with mobility issues. But other than that, I think it's okay.

Grandhaven Manor seemed well-organized. Their model room looked pretty good and very spacious. The person who gave the tour was very informative. They have a refrigerator and stove inside the rooms. They had a courtyard, billiard room, a library and they had a big patio.

This facility has gone down hill in the past few years. About 5 different office managers and 4 office staff. There are 2 maintenance men that are very good but one will be retiring. The janitorial service is done by male staff, 1 male that works part time and a service that comes in once in a while. There is no one in the hair salon, the one that was here only worked 2 afternoons a week but did not keep her appointments. This has been for over a year. They are letting anyone rent as long as they have the rent. This includes those who are blind, have dementia, one with suicidal tendencies and another that harasses many of the residents for no reason. Then there is the bed bug issue and the fact residents expect advertised amenities. What they get is a half donut and coffee once a week and go to either Meijer or Kroger just once a week as apposed to breakfast club, lunches at nearby restaurants, parties within the community, etc

We went to Grandhaven Manor Communities but I wasn't comfortable. There was no one around, of course, it was a Saturday, but there were just no people in the hallways. There was an outlet cover on the floor and it's stuck up, so it was a tripping hazard. We weren't excited about that and they should do something about that. I only saw one staff member; she's the lady who showed us around. Everything was shut down and the amenities weren't that different from the other places we saw. They had big walk-in closets and this would have been number 2 on our list when my mom and I were there, there weren't many people out. The rooms were a nice size. The one lady I met with was very helpful and friendly.
