The Day Center of Evergreen is wonderful. My husband goes, and he visits with people, discusses the news, exercises, plays some games, eats lunch, and goes on field trips. It's very well organized, well run, and well known around here. When you go in, there's someone right there to meet you. You can't get in to the main facility without being buzzed in, and they keep it locked. There's a huge room with tables and couches and little rooms around it, an exercise room, and a music room with hand chimes, singing, people come and do music with them and for them, and an art room and an artist comes. All the art around there is done by the participants. They have a TV room where they watch documentaries and movies and play jeopardy on the screen and news discussions. They're getting exercise while they play, and they're competitive. They played bingo, and he won a piece of candy. He's excited about the field trip. You pay by the level of assistance that's needed. They have a service where they will do bathing for the person. They have very good lunches from Meals on Wheels, which are highly nutritious, already prepared, and still hot. We're happy with it. They have a bus that you can hire to come and pick the person up in the morning and bring him home at the end of the day for an extra charge. The staff is wonderful. The food is really good. Yesterday, he didn't want what they were having, so they made him a ham sandwich. The facility could be better though. They're making do. It's not gorgeous nor fancy, but it's functional and not awful.
