I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved to Addington Place of Lakeside Vista. I liked that she can be in assisted living now and she doesn't have to move or go anywhere when she needs nursing care. Her apartment is just a room, but it's generous in size and with her own private bathroom. They provide three meals a day. She seemed pretty satisfied with that. I think the inside is very clean, and very taken care of, and they do the carpets very often. I would say the outside looks a little rundown. They have a very nice open gathering room with TV, couches, and chairs, and most days they have games and cards going on at those common tables. As for the value, it's what I expected to pay. So I'd say it's good.

I visited this facility

I toured Addington Place of LakeSide Vista. It was pretty bright. It wasn't big, but it was close to the central community where there could be an interface with other people. It seemed very adequate. We walked around and we looked at the room. It's a typical room that somebody would need, and my sister-in-law needs a lot of help. She's in a wheelchair, and it looked like it would be a fit. The staff, he's been there for ten years, and he's very knowledgeable, very informed, and very articulate.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Addington Place of LakeSide Vista is where I am right now and it is the best I've been in, so far. I feel pretty safe and comfortable here. It has changed hands a couple of times since I've been here. If you're elderly, the things that are important to you as an elderly person are well-kept grounds where you don't have uneven surfaces, you don't have snow and ice in the wintertime when you're trying to struggle to walk around. What I'm experiencing here are people who have compassion. This facility is the best that I've been in, and I will stay here. This is the best layout I've had. I have 3 large, spacious, brightly lit rooms that are well cared for. All utilities are provided. If something needs maintenance, if you put in a work order, then it's taken care of in a timely manner for most things. Every once in a while, there's a glitch. If you have needs, you can call the office and express what you need, and it's taken care of. Meals are available if you want to buy meals. I've lived here for 2 years. Many of the people that are here have lived here much longer than that. In the 2 years I've been here, I feel like I'm in my own home and I am reasonably happy with the situation that I'm in. They have a very impressive onsite physical, occupational, and speech therapy available. For 3 months, I had all 3 therapies provided by them. And they did everything. They got the doctor ordered, they got the insurance approval, they took care of setting up the treatment plan, and they brought me back to myself after this very serious setback. So, I was pleased with that, that I was able to get all of that right here on-site in my apartment. And then when I was strong enough, I was able to walk over to the gym and finish up over there. But I started out in my own apartment, and they did it all. I did not have to do any of it. It's a really old facility. The buildings are over 30 years old, so I can't give them the top score because there are a lot of little things that need to be taken care of that are due to age. The staff that I'm exposed to in independent living would be maintenance and the maintenance crew. They go out of their way to do things, like when my car wouldn't start, they jumped my car. The only grievance I have is that they don't have WiFi available.

I visited this facility

I went to Addington Place of LakeSide Vista, which I liked. The thing I liked best was the view. It had several levels. They had independent, assisted, then they had where the residents had to have 24/7 care and then they had memory care. It had beautiful scenery out of the window, so the view was really good. The unit itself was a large apartment and it was okay. I had thought about moving in there and decided not to because the balcony was too small for me to put two chairs out there. I like my plants, I like to be outside, and I do container gardening, so there was no place for me to do that there. So that was the downside of it. All of the amenities were in a separate building. So if I wanted to get up in the morning and go exercise a little bit and then come back and do breakfast, I have to be fully dressed, go out the door, and go down the street (which is not far but is still outside like half a block to walk around), so that one wasn't reasonable at all. The buildings were not connected, and I didn't want to be outside going from one activity to another. I would like a facility where everything is in one building.

Provider Response

Thank you for touring and considering our community. Along with attentive care, giving our residents an active and vibrant lifestyle is at the heart of what we do. Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can assist you and your family in any way. Thanks again!

My mother moved here. The people there are very nice and friendly, very welcoming, and it works good for us locally. From the outside, we could look through the windows, because of the COVID-19, and we could assist her in moving in, just one of us. The staff seems to be very friendly, very accommodating, and we've had no issues at this point, but she's only been there a little while. The size of the room seems to work for her, it's just the adjustment coming from a condo to a smaller kind of an apartment. She said the food is OK. They do have interactions with social distancing, like bingo and visiting.

We chose it for Mother, but they don't have room for her. We liked the staff there, it was clean, and it looked like a it would be a decent place for mom to be. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was good, spacious, and it would have worked out well.

It was very nice and divided into smaller communities. The rooms were OK, but they felt dark. The activities looked OK, like virtual bowling on TV. The dining area was OK, and I liked that they were divided into smaller areas for their food which was appealing.

It was a beautiful facility. The staff was very accommodating. They brought the nurse out to talk to me when I had questions. They had on staff nurse. Their dining room was set up in a way that people can move around and be social. They had a calendar full of activities. The staff will take them from building to building for ten different activities.Their rooms were very nice.
