The rooms are the perfect size and it was freshly painted and newly carpeted when my brother moved in. The food is delicious. There is are 3 different choices for each meal. The staff is wonderful. My brother that lives there has Down Syndrome and they love him like he is their own brother. I could not be happier with his new home.

I will move into Winter Village. I like everything about it. When we walked in, it was warm and inviting. It was very nice. We had a wonderful lunch. We had shrimp scampi on top of rice pilaf with a vegetable, a roll, and a dessert. They let us choose what we wanted from the menu. Then they took us up to the apartment, and it was beautiful, very nice, and clean. There was no smell. The staff was wonderful, too.

My mom moved in. They were pleasant to work with and helpful, explaining the process, and making both me as the caretaker and for the residents to acclimate well to the new setting and meeting our needs. My mom has a shared residence where she has her own bedroom and her own bathroom, and then she shares a living room and a kitchen with another resident, which was a good fit for her to kind of create those relationships. They have the ability for patients or residents to volunteer in the store where residents can purchase basic items they may need. They have a library that residents can also volunteer to be a part of, or just join book clubs. They have pool tables. Activities that are available from music to the same things that are available in the Frankenmuth communities because they're known for a lot of activities going on in Frankenmuth. They were able to bring it in for the residents as well. They provide transportation into the community for free. They also provide transportation to doctors' appointments that are on the outskirts of town due to former residents' donations to kind of help provide that care. They also have doctors that come to the residents so they don't have to leave, which makes that very convenient as well for basic care. All three meals are provided as part of the base cost, whereas some of the other ones are either not available or as an extra cost. They provide that, which is really nice. They're not accommodating as much for vegetarian needs.

My mom has just moved in. It's closest to her family. The facility is excellent. There's a lot of amenities. They have a huge dining hall, a library, a game room, a crafting room, and their own laundry rooms. They have at least six events a day that they can attend. I didn't get to sample their meals, but they get to sit down at tables and order like they're at a restaurant, and they have choices. The staff members were very informative and answered any questions that we had.

There's a lot of staff. The food looks good, and the place is clean. It looked like the people were active, and things looked like they were flowing smoothly. They have a salon and a chapel.

We toured. We were very impressed with the facility, the accommodations, and the people. What we're looking for is not just a place to be, but a community that my parents can interact with. We talked to a few of the residents there and just looking around and watching people and seeing how they interact with each other and the demeanor that they had just been there, it seemed like they were all happy or enjoying themselves and enjoying their company, and that's kind of what we're looking at. There are a lot of facilities like the game room and pool table. My parents would go to casinos on occasion and so that's available to them. I think they would have more of an opportunity to interact with people their own age in the facility. They hit all the benchmarks that we were looking for. Proximity to the rest of the family is a big, big part of the decision. The only thing that may have held us back was the cost, because my parents are on a fixed income, but the staff shot me an email and it's looking like it's a doable situation if I understand what she told me. They have forced air, they didn't have an in-room air conditioner thing, so it would be a little bit quieter. We met the salesperson that showed us around, and she was very accommodating, knowledgeable, forthcoming with anything we would ask, and even anticipating things that we might want to ask and filling in information. The staff was informative. One thing I liked was that she had us come in there for lunch, and so we sat there. I know she was busy, and she left to do other things, and I took that as letting us absorb the atmosphere, see the people, let us make our own decision, give us time to take things in, and make our own decisions without any pressure. And I appreciated and enjoyed that as well. We also met some of the servers and some of the personnel around the facility. There was a lady that was having a hard time moving with her walker and one of the staff gave her a hand and helped her. The staff seemed to greet everybody like they knew everybody, and so I appreciated that as well. We had lunch. I had the baked cod and so did my father. And I would compare that to any restaurant I've ever had it at, it was really good. The side dish was good. My mom had the quiche with melon, and she enjoyed that. That was very good. It's as good as any restaurant meal I've ever had.

This facility will be very acceptable for a resident who is ambulatory and independent, and I will say the food is better than most facilities. If, however, a resident is in need of more personal care, I would hesitate. The care staff are home care aides, rather than trained CNA's. Their abilities are limited for patients who need more than just bathing and dressing. The pendants used for calling for help often do not work, and sometimes there is only one care aide for the floor. An RN visits only once per week, which may not be sufficient for very ill patients.. All in all, I would be cautious in placing a resident here who needs a lot of care.

Felt welcomed from the moment we walked in the door. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was good. Abby was helpful in giving us a tour of the building and answered all of our questions.

My parents stayed for about two weeks before my dad ended up in the hospital. It's a good place. The staff was very good and very responsible. They would come in twice a day for medications, like they're supposed to, and they keep the doors locked. It just ended up not being a good fit for my dad because he needed a special diet, and they couldn't accommodate that. They had a lot of activities, but my parents were just unable to join in. One of the things they had that not all the places had was a veterans group that would meet. They had a special meeting place for them, and they had photos on the wall in honor of their residents who had been in various wars and conflicts. That was a very nice feature. I know not all places are able to do that, but they did there. They try to keep their facility updated, and they have updated different areas so some of the areas were not completely done yet. Their apartments weren't as big. People need light, and some of their apartments are not well lit, but I think they're trying to change them. The food was OK according to them, but they just could not accommodate my dad. He had a condition where there is only certain food that he could have. They weren't able to take care of it, so we had to have somebody come in to take care of the food for him during the time that he was there. They have been around for years. They constantly have activities going on for the public; that's how my parents actually first found out about them. They would visit friends and participate in their activities.
