My mom went to Regency for re-habilitation after spending time in the hospital. The staff was wonderful, and she enjoyed the food very much. The staff was very attentive and reassuring. My mom was able to leave sooner than I thought, and I also liked that I could read the notes online that the nurses put in her medical file regarding blood pressure etc. The receptionist (Nancy) was always smiling and helpful to the visitors, staff and patients and is a real asset to the facility. I would definitely recommend Regency for your loved one and if my mom ever needs re-habilitation again, I wouldn't hesitate to come back. Thank you all for your wonderful care of my mom!

This is always a difficult and hard decision that family members have to make for their loved ones. Regency was very good to my Mom. They have many really good staff that care. The rooms were well kept and clean. The food was good and they tried to accommodate foods likes and dislikes. My only negative would be that they need more night staff. I do understand that staffing is a huge problem in all long tern care facilities but more would be better. I would recommend that family be as present as possible to make sure your loved ones feel taken care of.

My dad was in rehab at Regency on the Lake. It was clean and seemed to be well equipped with what was needed for people that could qualify for rehabilitation. The location was nice. The building was large. I thought that they took good care of my dad. However, due to their COVID restrictions, they refused to care for him in their actual rehab facility. They offered in-room rehab to get around the COVID restrictions. But they were going to charge him insurance for the same types of services, even though he would not be able to use the specialized equipment and things that would help him. So I'm not overall impressed with the quality of care for the rehab. Also, they were not equipped to take care of bariatric patients. My dad's wheelchair couldn't fit through the door of their bathrooms. They should improve their disability access to the bathrooms and come up with better options for people who haven't had all three COVID shots. The facility was very nice.

Recently I needed a nursing home after a surgery went bad two times. I made the decision to go to Regency On the Lake. I cannot say enough positive things about the care I received. Every staff member was caring, competent and professional. I would have no problem referring anyone to Regency.

My mother lived here. We had her moved. She would wait hours for assistance to go to the bathroom. They lost all the clothes that were sent with her. I had to go in and search the unclaimed clothing boxes. Still only found a few items. Never compensated for the lost items. We had a list of items prior to entrance to Regency. Phone calls to get help with issues went ignored. Phone calls for reimbursement of items were ignored. Formal written complaints have been ignored as well.

The kitchen staff is terrible and so is the food! The nurses and aides are pretty great but there are a few that I had to write reports on. Most the nurses help their aides out quit often and that is how it should be! They seem to be very short staffed at this time due to the covid virus. I personally have had to wait up to one and a half hours for a brief change or to get on it off a bed pan. Laundry does pretty well trying to keep up with the laundry and your cloths even though they are short staffed too. Housekeeping is short handed too but most the housekeepers do a good job of keeping your room clean. There are a couple who do nothing. The therapy team is pretty good of course there are certainty some who are definitely better than others. I really dislike not knowing what theripst you will be working with or what time of the day they plan to work with you. They need to realize that sometimes the aides have food trays to pass and can't always get the patients when therapy wants them. Some therapists have been very helpful that way but many aren't! I had a problem with therapy and spoke to the higher ups . I really thought I wasn't listened to. I was very upset! Their Activities team is Fantastic! They really can make your day enjoyable and work very hard to find things to entertain the patients.

Poor food. i ordered an egg salad sandwich and it only have one tsp of salad. i am a diabetic with an ostomy which they won't accomodate my diet needs. I could not eat the fatty dinner option and they would not give me whole wheat toast. I got a spoon on me tray that was encrusted with dry oatmeal. No way could they not see it. Kitchen staff is horrible boy I really like the rest of the staff.

From what I can tell, see, they are really short of staff. They leave a food tray on the overbed table and if the patient is asleep they don't wake them up to eat. If they come back and the tray isn't touched they take it away, assuming the patient didn't want it. Showers aren't encouraged, They don't offer to wash patients hands before they eat. This in itself would wake the patient up. Toothbrushes are never used. If you ask staff they just say the patient didn't want to shower, or eat, or take therapy, etc. At what point do you just say, " we are going to give you a shower" period. Medicare reimburses for two showers a week. They offer activities, but there is no encouragement to go. The staff just isn't there in the quantity needed to spend time getting these patients ambulatory, and able to attend to their own needs. They go there mainly for rehab, but I don't see much rehab. There isn't enough staff to properly take care of the patient's needs. The rooms are good, activities like bingo are offered, cafeteria is clean, food is adequate. Rehab rooms have good equipment. They do have patient care conferences. The facility has been newly enlarged and remodeled, so it all goes back to enough staff with adequate training to deal with geriatrics.

My Grams is currently at Regency on the Lake and we couldn't be happier! Every single nurse and aide that has attended to her, has done so with respect and kindness. I have read other reviews about soiled linens and such. I have yet to see any dirty clothes or linens left in her room and her laundry is done and brought back the very next day. The staff has done everything to make sure she is comfortable and for that I am truly thankful.

I was at Regency on the Lake 2 years ago and am here again after I fell down the stairs and fractured several bones. Regency is the only place that I would ever go for rehab!! The staff is well trained and very careful, compassionate and understanding. The therapy staff are very good too. I have complete confidence in them. Even the food is really good. I would highly recommend Regency on the Lake to anyone!

I asked nurses at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital which rehab facility I should go to and a couple mentioned Regency on the Lake. I have been to several other facilities throughout the years and Regency is by far the best!! The staff go beyond what is expected. One nurse even brings me flowers from her personal garden. They all work great as a team to accommodate my personal needs. This is the only facility I would recommend.

I was a patient of Regency as I recovered from surgery. I am disabled and use a wheelchair or mobility scooter to get around. The nurses and aides were kind and efficient. I was given a shower every day. I got the medicines the doctor ordered, right on schedule. The room was clean as was the bathroom. Any accidents were immediately cleaned up. No wet towels or bedding was left laying around. I had one problem with the mattress. I have spinal trouble that causes severe pain. Every mattress they tried on my bed had a sunken spot in the middle section from people sitting up in bed. The custodial staff tried different mattresses but they were all the same. I enjoyed the food. I was able to make selections each day for each meal. The PT staff were great. The wound nurse was fantastic. I recommend this to anyone who is able to communicate with staff as to their issues. If they know they can help.

Physical therapy is less than high school level. Some nurses are great but there are a few who need to be replaced. The food is loaded with sodium and is processed food. Meals in the rooms are served with no condiments but go to the dining room and you can have all you want. The people are nice but it's so unorganized and the communication between departments is virtually non-existent. If you have someone in there or going in there, be prepared to work you fingers to the bone making sure they get the care they're deserving. God forbid we ever have to use this place again!! I'll use in-home nursing before going back here. Nice people but something is really missing.

I just left Regency/Fort Gratiot, and for me it was a difficult experience. . I came from a Hospital and needed minimal assistance getting back on my feet. I was shocked and upset that patients were only allowed a shower twice a week. Twice a week? What the heck? My Insurance is paying this facility enough money that I ought to be entitled to a shower EVERY day, not twice a week! I also wonder why it's ok for patients to leave this facility ALL day long, as long you are back by midnight. What is this all about? Very curious why a patient would be permitted to get up, get dressed and leave simply by checking in and checking out, as long as you are back by midnight. I also think that any medical type facility needs to keep the noise level DOWN, turn lights off, and check inn your patients frequently! For me, it was difficult to be here. The food was terrible and the staff could have taken time to sit for 5 minutes and just talk to these elderly patients. Some of them never had a visitor the entire time I was there!
ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS!!!

I would never recommend a family member going to this nursing home. The care there is out of control. This company cannot keep employees; in the time my mom was there I saw 8 employee's quit do understaffing and being over worked. The employee turnover rate is incredibly high, every C.N.A that did care for us always in the worst of moods and in a panic rush. Most had none too little experience. There weren’t any veteran employee’s working there. The Director of nursing would threaten the employee's with termination if they did not agree to work exhausting hours. I saw one Cna, work a double shift and then have to work 3 hours over on her last shift, do to employees walking out on their job, because they could not take the work environment any longer. A new C.N.A or L.P.N would be taking care of my mother on a daily basic with no experience. I was afraid to leave my mother in the care of the regency on the lake. The care given was atrocious to say the least. To no fault of the employee's. The director of nursing was out of control and not suited for her job at all, and very inconsiderate of her residents and employees alike. I don’t recommend you having a family member get care or become a resident at the Regency On The Lake.

My Mom just passed away after living at Regency for several years. She was given such good care, the staff went out of their way to be kind to her. They were hard working kind hearted ladies. My Mom loved them and we thought of them as family. I want to thank them all for the love they showed us on the day she passed away. So many special people took care of her, I will remember it always, Thank you.
Disappointed.

I gave Regency a 2-Star review because there were only TWO staff there who actually behaved in way that would suggest they are there for the people they care for rather than the paycheck. My mother received showers (when my sister and I gave them to her). Soiled linens were left in her room, when water was spilled the aide came in the room, put two towels down and walked out, leaving the towels on the floor. Passing trays took precedence over call lights and the customer service was extremely poor. Do not judge this book by its cover; it is a BEAUTIFUL facility, until you stay a while. I am in the process of filing a formal complaint. The majority of the staff were rude, had no sense of professionalism, and used, "I forgot", when asked for something and upon walking to the nurses' station finding them sitting and talking rather than caring for the individuals on their hall. There was a nurse and a CENA who were very helpful and professional. For the sake of Regency I hope they stick around and teach the others I dealt with there the meaning of work ethic.
