One of my church members is at Holiday Genesee Gardens, so I took a visit to see the facility, and to see if it was something I'd be looking for in the future, because at least it's in the area and I'm familiar with everything here. My doctors and everything are here. It was a lovely facility. I was really impressed with the staff, the facility itself, and the amenities that it offered. They were a bit pricey, but I guess that's the way it is. When I went through the place, they had a little painting class, so some of the residents were there painting. The person I visited there has a nice one-bedroom apartment with a living area and a little kitchen area (it has a microwave, not a stove). They have a refrigerator and a bathroom. She had a little deck off to the side, which was really nice. They have a room where if the residents wanted to have family or friends and have dinner, they could reserve that. I think the cost was like $5 per person. So, she could set aside that room and have maybe four or five guests coming and have dinner, which I think was really nice. The staff was really informative. They were nice and patient. They took us around completely and showed us everything. The facility was very neat and very clean. I really liked it because in each little wing, they had washers and dryers there that the residents could use.

I went to Holiday Genesee Gardens. They were very, very good and polite. They had a lot of similar accommodations to the other place. They just had suites or one-bedroom apartments or studios. I think they have two-bedroom apartments, too. They're the sister building to the same owners as the Frankenmuth. So, great experience, but because of the type of apartment my mom got, which they didn't offer, they were able to give it cheaper when you share with somebody else. So, that was the final fit for my mom. The only thing they didn't have is they couldn't drive you to outside doctors because the other one just has it because of a donor. So that's just a fluke situation. That helps me as well. And I'm going to assume the doctors go there too, because I didn't know that until I moved in. So I don't know if their doctors come to the facility, but they're just as big. They have all like, 150 residents. They range from in their mid-50s to 100 years old. So, a lot of people and activities. They didn't have the library and they didn't have the donor. So that was a little bit different, but they still had a beautiful facility. Everyone was amazing to work with. It just came down to money for us.

I visited Holiday Genesee Gardens. I enjoyed the staff and the residents were friendly. The rooms were great. They appeared to be in great shape. I toured the one-bedroom and it seemed big enough. I liked the rooms as well. The staff was friendly, very helpful, and very supportive. I had lunch there. The food was excellent. The dining area was large and spacious and sat quite a few people.

We toured Holiday Genesee Gardens, and we liked the fact that it was not quite an assisted living. It's independent living with assisted living staff there, just in case. They have nurse staff. It was very big with lots of things to do. There are lots of rooms, they have meals three times a day, and the apartment is super nice. Everything's getting updated in the whole building. It was very nice inside. The rooms were very clean, and the layouts were very nice. My mom is getting a different room compared to everybody else. She will have like a main room. It was a different type of room, but they ended up renting it out. Their dining area is beautiful. It has about 10-15 chandeliers and linen tablecloth. They have an activities director, but I was not able to speak to her. They have an exercise room. They also have a playroom with a pool table in it and a shuffleboard. They're updating all of that and getting rid of all the furniture. There were a lot of people in the daytime.

Holiday Genesee Gardens is really nice. They're really helpful there. It's a clean place. My friend is using a third party there. It's independent living with third-party assisted living. They have like a set C depending on what the client needs as far as assistance in their home/in their own apartment. The managers are really helpful. All the people that live there are really nice. They have good food. They try to make it as comfortable as they can for them. The apartments are unfurnished. The only thing that it comes with is a fridge, and then they supply linens, and that's all that there is. There's no furniture there or anything. However, sometimes there's not always someone there to help you. With regards to food, my friend said 90 percent of the time he likes what they have, and they do plated meals. Each meal is like a three-course meal. They do exercise, they have a church, a guy comes out and plays the piano and sings for them, they do euchre, and they do bingo. They do quite a bit there. And then they also offer free transportation Tuesday through Friday, which is included in the client's rent. And then they come out once a week and they clean the client's home, and that's also included. It was the least expensive place I could find.

Holiday Genesee Gardens would be a strong second. I know they were renovating, but it appeared to be a little bit older facility. It had air conditioning like what you would see at a hotel, so it would be a little bit more noisy. The rooms were nice. They had a full kitchen. The other one had like a mini fridge, a sink, and stuff, which would have been adequate, but my mom is transitioning from a house to assisted living, so she is going to take a little bit to get used to it. So the full kitchen is something that would give her a little comfort just to have a full kitchen. I wasn't introduced to one of the housekeepers, but we saw their interaction with one of the clients. She was coming to clean a room and talk to the client, and I appreciated their interaction. I thought she was very helpful to the client, and it would be something that I hope would happen with both my parents. Everybody seemed to be happy. We also really enjoyed the lady that took us around.

My mother will be moving into Holiday Genesee Gardens. We chose this place because of the location. The staff was very friendly. The guy who showed us around knew everybody's name (the employees and the residents). We have not tried the meals yet, but they cook three meals a day. They have a chapel and a beauty salon, all your meals are cooked, and they have laundry facilities onsite. It's very clean. We have three hospitals in this area, so you can get to a hospital easily. Everything is nearby. It was the only place we toured, and my mom loved it. Based on location and price, we decided to go with that.

My mom had a respite stay at Holiday Genesee Gardens. It's just fabulous. The people, the staff, were all wonderful to her and me. They have texted me several times, telling me how she was doing, and she's coming around great. I'm on vacation right now and gone for three weeks. I'm not quite home yet, and she was having a panic attack about me leaving, just totally off the wall. They were just perfect with her. I'm pretty sure when I get home, I'll probably be bringing her home. They have been so good to her and everything, but I think she misses her independence. I know a lot of it was them knowing how to bring her around, so I can't say enough good about that institution. My mom's room was beautiful and was all furnished. She had a kitchenette, a huge bathroom, a huge bedroom, and even a good-sized living room. It looks like an apartment, and it was very comforting to me that she felt like she was in her own home, not a room with a bed. They had a lot of activities. I was shocked, the big boss there, sent me a text of her doing Zumba, and I was just flabbergasted. When I talked to her that night, she was like, "Oh yeah, I did this, and I did that." they were keeping her busy and it was great. I had three meals there with my mom. At one point I said to the lady working there, "Can I move in? This food was delicious." The dining area is beautiful, and it had a fireplace. There were four to a table, and you could sit with anyone you wanted, it was nice and all. Even the people that live there, we met several that were couples that lived there for a long time and a lot of individuals. Everybody was so nice and happy. I don't know why they wouldn't be in a place like that. I have been in some other ones, for my dad before he died, that couldn't even come close to this. It's an amazing place. Right from the front door when we walked in, the lady that greeted us, even my mother said, "She made me feel so comfortable." Everyone we met after that has been the same way. They were fabulous. A lot of them had been there for a long time, so they knew what to do. In terms of value for money, there were some in my hometown just a ways away that charged double what these people did. So, that was very good.

Holiday Genesee Gardens was an excellent and welcoming facility. The rooms were very clean and homey. The staff members did a great job of answering questions. They were kind, patient, and knowledgeable. The dining area was beautiful. The arrangement was very friendly. It was a beautiful setup so that people could get to know each other. They had a guitarist, and he sang. There was a circle of people around him.

Holiday Genesee Gardens was a lovely place. I liked everything about it. They did not have pull cords or any kind of medical facility, but they provided a medical alert. They would call an ambulance if you needed one. The dining room was beautiful. The layout was very pretty. There's a long walk from place to place, but I will have to get used to those things. The apartment that I saw was very, very small. It was a studio, but that's about all I could afford. They said they had activities, but I didn't see any. The outdoor area was beautiful.

We went and visited Genesee Gardens and it was nice. My grandma fell in love with it as soon as we walked in. She is moving in on the 31st. It's independent living so you only have to pay for what you need. We won't be paying for all the things that we may not need for her and we get to choose what we want for her at this point. Cleaning is included so they will come in and clean, change her sheets, do her laundry, and all of that is included. It was nice that they had someone sitting at the counter when we first walked in. The place was very clean, open, and it didn't feel like a nursing home at all. It was open and airy. The apartment was beautiful. It had a wraparound porch on it and each unit had its own kitchenette. The person who assisted us was Brad, and he was super nice. He was amazing with my grandma who was hard of hearing. He took to listening and talking to her. He was very personable to her. Instead of just talking to me and asking me questions, he asked my grandma questions which made my grandma feel like she was the decider. The dining area was open and airy, and it's like fine dining so they have China. The residents get to choose and they have conversations about what they like and what they don't like so they can take it off the menu. They provide services where they could go shopping. They also do bingo and some other activities all the time. They also provide trips when it's not COVID. It was nice and my grandma liked it.

Genesee Gardens is a very nice place. It looks like they have a lot to offer. The tour was very nice. They explained a lot of things. It's a lovely facility. I like the way things are set up. The rooms looked very nice even though they were empty, but you get to furnish it the way you want it. I also found out that you can even paint the walls if you wanted to. They're very caring. The lady that runs the place was very knowledgeable, and we even got to meet some of the residents who live there, and they seemed to be very happy. We looked at the apartment type. We didn't look at any studios or flats. We looked at a single room and a double room, and they were both very well laid out. I noticed that the double room, one of the bathrooms had a bathtub, and the master bedroom had a walk-in shower. It's all-inclusive. The meals are provided. They have a daily menu, and they serve quite a few different meals, maybe three different. You just come in, you sit down, and they serve you. It's like a restaurant setting. They cater to the folks. The lady I talked to and showed the place was very knowledgeable. I also noticed a young lady that was working in the dining area, she seemed to be very pleasant, and she stayed busy cleaning up. The facility looked very clean. Everybody was pleasant. When we were there, they were eating, but we were too busy looking at the plate. The lady did offer for us to come back and have lunch at a later date if we like to. It was laid out very well. It was three floors. The first and second floors mirror each other. When you walk into the center of the building, you either turn right or left to go to your room, and there are long hallways. Some of the first floors have their own private entries as well as a door from the hallway.

Genesee Gardens was a very nice place. It was very good. The people were nice. Everything went off on time. The staff members were very professional and answered all our questions. We had no problems at all. I enjoyed meeting with them. The facility is very nice, very clean, and top notch. It's a good place. Their apartments are a little bit smaller than the other ones. Compared to the other facilities we visited, those apartments were a little bit smaller, and they did not really have all that much of a kitchen at all. They don't have a range, and all they have is a little area with a refrigerator, a sink, and a couple of cabinets, so they were a little smaller and definitely not a full kitchen. Just about everything is included. It includes the cleaning and three meals. The only thing that it doesn't include is laundry. They have laundry rooms there, the laundry machines are free, and they even provide the pods for the washer, so that's very nice.

I liked Genesee Gardens. There were some prices though that I wasn't aware of and that I didn't find out on the phone, but it was a nice place. The staff showed us a room, and it was really nice. They were very cordial. The activities lady came in and introduced herself, told us she was excited to see my mom, and that she'd be looking forward to working with her. It was a long process and we were there for about three hours, but all in all, they were very good. I was really impressed with them, and they're very willing to answer my questions. The rooms were real pretty. We went upstairs and I looked at the room that a couple rented out. It had a separate bedroom and living room, and it was very nice, very clean, and very well-kept. I'm excited for mom to move in there. I met Sherry, Kelly, and the activities lady, and they all seemed upbeat and very nice. We saw the menu, so I knew what they had to offer because mom was saying she didn't like certain food, so they gave her three choices from the menu.

Kelley and her team have done an outstanding job of taking care of my mom and the residents of Genesee Gardens during Covid. Kelley responses to my e mails day or night as she cares so much for her residents. My mom loves the young lady that comes in to change her bedding and clean her room. The staff at Genesee Gardens are amazing and care so much for their residents specially during the crazy times of Covid. Looked at several facilities in the area and glad we selected Genesee Gardens for our mom.

I toured Genesee Gardens. It was pretty decent, the manager answered all my questions at that time, and everything worked out well, but my dad is going to stay in his own home. It was very clean and the apartments were pretty decent. We had a choice of a one- or two-bedroom, and outside access was also available, and not just through the main entrance, which was nice. I just didn't appreciate all the follow-up calls.

My mother visited 5 times before making her decision to live here. Each time, we met friendly staff and residents who spoke highly of Kelley the Manager. The cleaning and wait staff were friendly and relaxed while serving the residents. This atmosphere along with the cleanliness, bright open areas and apartment choices is why my mother finally selected Genesee Gardens. There’s no other place like this in the Flint area.

I didn't really care for Genesee Gardens because the one lady was real snappy, especially when it came to the money part. It's independent living, but they have other things, like they give them medicine or any medical needs, but for extra charges. The one-bedroom was nice and it had a balcony, so that was good. It was a nice place. They were having a karaoke thing, and popcorn, and they were all singing when I was there. Everybody was nice except for that one lady. In general, it was good.

I look at this place for myself very nice place. The person that showed me the rooms and I look at all of them was very nice. People there all seem to be very happy. I did not eat there but they were getting ready to eat and the food look great. The only thing that kept me from getting one was they do not have a stove in the kitchen they say because they cook the meals and also no washer and dryer hookups they do have coin washer and dryers in a common area. It was very clean

We really like Genesee Gardens. The place looks really clean and my father looks really good. The people who work there are friendly and happy, and they look like they really enjoy what they're doing. My dad also enjoys the food, he said it's good. They also have activities for the residents and they try to include him even though he doesn't want to.

Genesee Gardens was well cared for, and the residents seemed happy. They were coming to dinner dressed and interacting with each other. It's independent living, but they have arrangements with healthcare contractors right on-site with a couple of agencies that could provide to meet in-home care needs.
Happy visit

Our visit was lovely. The residents were involved and interested in us and each other. They were all arriving early for lunch so they could visit! We are going to chose this location if we are lucky enough to get a one bedroom apartment for our mother. We really liked the a la carte health services.

My mother really enjoys Genesee Gardens. They provide three great meals a day. Her housekeeping is taken care of. She really enjoys this place. I think the food is very good. She is not really active, so she is not involved in any of the activities that they have. They do have groups that come in, and she enjoys that. Somebody will come in, and play music. She enjoys those kinds of things. The people are so friendly, and helpful. The facility, and the layout are very nice. My mother has a beautiful apartment that has a very large bedroom, lots of closet space, and a really nice living-room.

Genesee Gardens was a 5-star facility, and it would take our dog. A lot of them said "pet friendly," but it was only up to dogs and cats less than 20 pounds. We had a 75-pound Labrador. The surrounding and the rooms were 5-star, excellent. Maybe a little on closet space, but most of them are. The staff was also 5-star. I could not say anything less than fantastic.

We were able to come across Genesee Gardens because some of my friends are there. My brother-in-law fairly enjoys the facility. He also loves the meals. He was able to develop friendships. The staff were actually incredible people; very loving and caring. His apartment is very spacious. It's like his home now. His bedroom can accommodate a king-sized bed. In his bathroom, they put additional grab bars in that we requested and it was wonderful.

I liked Genesee Gardens or I wouldn't put my mother in there. It's clean. It didn't have the smell, the look and the feel of a community that you would put your seniors in. The home care part of the staff is absolutely incredible. The management part of the facility, I think it needs a little bit of work. The rooms are clean and spacious. There's always something going on, like scrapbooking, movie nights and popcorn, bingo, singing songs, they bring people in and do sketching and shows.

I love Genesee Gardens. I like their independent living. It was a very nice place. Cleanliness was very good in this place. However, my daughter didn't want me in Flint. The staff seemed wonderful. Their apartments were really nice. I liked them too. However, there was barely any counter space to put stuff on. They need to put more cupboard space in their apartments. Nevertheless, I would recommend this place.

The big problem I have with Genesee Gardens is that they only have one elevator in the building. So if you have to be at their dining area at mealtime, everybody is lining up for the elevator, and because some of the residents there have walkers and some even have wheelchairs even, getting to your destination is sort of a problem. I don't want to get stuck in that kind of a deal. I would recommend this facility but I'll tell them that there's only one elevator in the building. I believe they could do better with having another elevator. Otherwise it is quite a nice place. In terms of staffing, with the little I had to do with them, they're all helpful and nice. This facility noteworthy has nice rooms for their residents.
