My cousin moved into Volante of Chesterfield. She says the food is very good, and she's a very picky eater. The facility is very clean and neat. It's a very nice place. My cousin is very happy with it. You have to have a code to go in and out. The staff members are very nice, helpful, calm, and very good people. They play games. They have a movie room. It's not a big place, so there aren't a lot of people rushing all over the place. It's very calm and quiet. My cousin has a dog there. She does not have a stove. She has a refrigerator and a sink.

The Bay at Chesterfield was a clean and calm environment. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable. There's a nice hair salon, a nice movie room, and community involvement. The dining area was also very clean. Their dining setup was very versatile. It was a very welcoming facility.

This building often floods and residents need to relocate to other rooms. I have witnessed 2 events between staff and residents that were handled very inappropriately which ultimately put residents in danger. The staff has no training to de-escalate a situation. Medications are often “missing” or have “run out”. If you have a loved one who is in need of consistent medications for medical or even depression - DO NOT reside here! Management will coherse family to agree to hospice. No matter the level of independence the staff will consistently increase the level of care. Supposedly, my family member “fell” 3 times, but the DPOA was not notified of these incidents. Narcotics and controlled substances have also gone “missing”.

My mother has been there for two years and she loves it. The aids/nurses are very attentive and kind. They take care of everything for her. Sometimes she may have to wait a bit, but understands they have others they are assisting. I have joined her for lunch and the food is very good, need seasoning, but understand other residents must watch their salt intake. My mom participates in some of the activities when she feel up to it. They have a nice variety of activities for her to choose from. Overall we are very pleased with this facility.

Do your homework. Before making a decision, take your time and talk to a number of the residents and families at different times during the week and on weekends. Since the change of ownership last summer, there seems to be a shift in the culture. The assisted living no longer has that "family owned" atmosphere. It's now owned and ran by a "corporation". Staff turnover, less caregivers and no permanent nurse on staff has caused some errors and delays in care. Meanwhile, they've been promising a full time nurse since December of last year.

The change in ownership last August caused some staff to leave; however, we have had no issues with responsiveness when problems arise. The aids there are doing a good job (it's a tough job regardless of staffing levels). [Other facilities have issues hiring/keeping staff also.] Training is ongoing from what we see. Rooms clean and well-lit. New food management has improved quality of food. Lack of an RN for a period is a concern but have been told one has been hired and will join the staff soon.

February, 2023 - This facility is a private pay facility and used to be called Grace Assisted Living. Under the old management, it had an excellent reputation and came highly recommended. But, the facility changed owners last summer and is now The Bay at Chesterfield. The State of Michigan website does not list The Bay as a licensed facility at present. Currently, The Bay no longer has a full-time nurse on staff either. I feel these are two significant disadvantages for the residents. Also, many of the experienced managers and caregivers left after the change of ownership. In addition, The Bay is often shorthanded. At those times, medications may be late and call buttons have been answered late or not at all. There is also noticeable employee turnover. It's sad because the building is on the newer side, has some good caregivers and the food is ok.

This place used to be Grace Assisted Living. It was sold last summer and now it is no longer licensed by the state, nor do they have a nurse on staff. There are not enough good care givers. It feels like the new owners seem to be scrimping on quality care in order to make more money. In fact, the place is expensive and rates do go up. Very disappointed.

This is typical assisted living. Staff is lazy, not trained, constant meetings nothing is done, meds are done incorrectly, Covid runs amuck, love ones ignored, the “supervisors” and “managers” seem to be more interested in their phones than work. The rooms are nice, the food is decent. The activities are ok. They have no transportation and residents feel locked in.

I was referred to this facility by caring.com. But, in the past year, this facility has gone downhill. Although they have a handful of excellent caregivers, the rest are average or less than average. The facility is usually short-staffed. Minimally trained caregivers and constant turnover make care quality inconsistent. And despite repeated meetings on shortcomings, issues are not resolved.
