I found the Lockwood of Burton Senior Living for my sister. There were several things that needed to be done, and it took the maintenance people forever to get it done. We hesitate about the place because she has to pay for her own food, and it's very expensive to eat there. The staff is very friendly, and they try to help. She's never eaten there because it's too expensive. They have activities, she hasn't gone to a lot, she went to a couple, and she's enjoyed them. They have movie theaters, a little entertainment, ministering on Sundays, and they have car shows. Right outside of her patio there's some pine trees, and I've asked them several times just to trim those up, because she can't see through them. It's close to grocery stores, close to restaurants, and convenient for shopping.

The manager at Lockwood of Burton was very pleasant and knowledgeable. She took me on a tour of two different units. They had different layouts. She gave me documentation that said what was included in the rent and then talked about the amenities. They have transportation for shopping and medical appointments. They had a laundry facility that was centrally located. They offer covered parking for people who drive. The cable was included, but you have to do your own phone thing. It's conveniently located. There's a bank, restaurants, a grocery store, and a couple of churches within walking distance. The units that I saw had a separate bedroom from the living area.

My mother stayed at Lockwood of Burton for three years. It would be a place to place your loved one if they're very independent. The services are very minimal. They are kind of ala carte, and they come and go. She had 24-hour nursing available, and then they canceled it without notice. It wasn't just my mother, but a whole bunch of other people were without service at night and needed medications (that we pay for). They are one step above independent apartment living. They can't keep the kitchen up and can't keep cooks, so they have a problem with food. They clean the room once a week, and it's very minimal. They basically vacuum the walk area. It's very independent. She was not really safe there. My mom liked it because she could have her cat, a kitchen, and all that. There were a lot of independent people that looked very functional. They were safe because they knew not to turn the stove on. They have a new service called personal care. Meals are included. Heat is included. It is all inclusive, except cable and phones. They are locked into Xfinity, and it is very expensive. They have a hard time keeping maintenance people. For a while, they had the maintenance guy answering the panic button, so you'd have the plumber coming and going. In the beginning when I went there three years ago, they had staff that was there 24 hours a day that would respond. You had people that really worked hard to try to take care of your loved ones, but you had one squirt gun fighting a forest fire. The rooms were nice. They redo the rooms, though they're not always quick. They had flooding. There was sewage on my mom's floor, but for a couple of years, they didn't have that problem. She was on the first floor. They would come in, clean it all up, and take care of it. I don't think there's anything wrong with the rooms.

Lockwood of Burton was a very nice facility. Everybody was kind and I thought the place was just fine. It was secure. The hallways were well-lit. The residents were playing a Wii. They were doing golf or bowling on the Wii. I saw the dining room. I thought it was fine, too. It was well maintained. The carpets were clean. The people that were working there were just fine also. I had no problem there either. The only thing that my mother didn't like about it was the fact that the laundry facility was outside of her apartment. Everything was clean. The washer-dryer out of the hallways did seem to work just fine.

Lockwood of Burton was very nice. They actually had activities going on at the time, so we were able to see that. It was a very nice facility. They probably had the most spacious apartments of all the ones we looked at. The only slight downfall at Lockwood of Burton was that different apartments have different bathrooms. Some have regular tubs, some have cut-out, and some have showers. For my dad, we're definitely looking at something with a cut-out tub or a shower, and not really a standard type tub. I think a lot of their apartments have the cut-out showers, but you will never really know which one they have. The day we were there, they had a car show going on; it was actually really nice. They had a bunch of old cars out there. Then the next day, they were having an Elvis impersonator. They looked like they had quite a bit going on as far as activities. A lot of the residents were out of their rooms, and some were in the common areas, so it seemed like a very nice place. All the staff that I met were all very nice. The facility itself was topnotch and very clean, and I didn't see any issues whatsoever. They had the car show going on and all that, so what they were doing there is they were having hot dogs, potato chips, and popcorn outside because everything was outside. We did have a hot dog and all that, but it wasn't their typical type lunch or anything like that.

Lockwood of Burton is really beautiful. They had all kinds of stuff. They had a big lunchroom, a workout room, a library, and lots of activities. They showed me the menu and everything. They were pretty good.

My mother was in Lockwood of Burton. It's beautiful, and they offer lots of activities. My mother had a two-bedroom and a balcony, and it was very, very nice. As she needed more care we were able to add that to her plan. As time passed we had the laundry done and the cleaning done, and she ate meals in their dining area. Everybody was very friendly and very kind, and it's a very nice place. They actually invited us to eat there one time so we would know what it was like, and it was very good. They offered trips outside of the facility, they had people come in for entertainment, they had crafts, and they had an area where they could do puzzles or play games, cards, and things like that. They also had a beauty parlor, a salon, and a nice little store where you could go in for just some basic needs.

My mother has moved into Lockwood of Burton. It's senior living with assisted amenities. They actually aren't considered assisted living, they just have some assisted amenities that they offer. They have been absolutely wonderful and I am very pleased with their services. They are extremely helpful and caring. My mother is in a very good place. She likes the food very much, everything has been good. Right now, they're bringing it to her room since she can't go to the dining room. She said everything has been good. The facilities are very clean. They're being extremely cautious with Covid. Everything is in good working repair. Her apartment is in excellent condition. The whole facility seems to be very well kept. Right now, because of Covid, there really aren't too many activities going on. It's very affordable for the services they offer. They come in once a week to do housekeeping, they take out her trash, and they come in once a week for laundry. There are many different amenities. They are providing her meals, and they have a med team on staff 24/7 if needed.

I toured Lockwood of Burton. It appears like a lot of the residents there had a good degree of mobility and weremmentally alert. The staff seemed very friendly, including the person who showed me around. I was at their snack bar and met a few people. If I'm considering moving into a senior place, this community would probably be acceptable, but I wouldn't be able to afford them. I thought the atmosphere was very nice. It had a spacious and nice appearance. It's just that they only give you one choice when they serve lunch and dinner each day.

I chose Lockwood of Burton because of the location and because they offer a more independent arrangement for my mom. The only activity she participates in is Bingo, but they also have shopping excursions, a casino trip once a month, and many more options. They serve three meals a day and provide laundry and housekeeping. The community offers transportation to doctors' appointments, but you can also use your own vehicle or have a family member drive.

Lockwood was pretty good but won't take my dad anymore. There was only one lady, and she couldn’t help or call an ambulance. They brought food in and left it; they didn’t take him out to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. He was charged $2,700 a month. He said he didn’t like the food a lot of times and just threw it away. It was clean, and the apartments were nice, but the care was the problem.

The experience at Lockwood of Burton was very good. They’re very informative. The lady was very helpful. The dining area was very nice and well lit. It is all in one building, and you pay for whatever services you need. It’s a very good value. The location was very convenient, too.

I visited Lockwood because I'm looking for an independent living facility. My experience with them was wonderful. It is the best that I have seen so far. They are very accommodating. This facility is close to my son and his wife. They live in the Flint area.

I visited the facility at Lockwood of Burton recently and I was impressed as I pulled up to the building. The lawns were neatly mowed and the grounds were well kept and nicely landscaped. It is a large multilevel building in the style of apartments, the outside of the building is clean and bright white and looks very new. I meant quiet a few members of the staff and they were all very friendly and helpful. They showed me around the building which was nice and clean and offered a number of amenities. They had a small movie theater, beauty salon and a full kitchen. The kitchen staff works very hard and cooks all of the meals from scratch. I had a chance to sample the meatloaf and I was surprised by how good it was. The food is not simple cafeteria fare but more on par with a dinner or restaurant. The residents' rooms are basically small one bedroom apartments similar to ones you would find in any apartment complex. I thought it was very nice and my grandma is very happy there.
