I was a recent patient at Bay Shores Care Center. After seeing my room I was amazed on how large it was. I had a private bathroom, and was furnished like it was my bedroom at home. I was welcomed by the staff and they showed genuine care about my injury. All the staff members were kind and reassuring. The Physical and Occupational therapists were excellent. They were kind and challenged me on a daily basis to learn new things so my recovery would be easier. The meals were delicious and they served a nice varity of food. Every day had activities from Polka music to Bingo. I would highly recommed Bay Shores for anyone who would their services weather it for you or a loved one. from room 108 Hazel

My dad was in Bay Shores Nursing Care Center. He was there for short-term rehab. The staff was very professional, friendly, and helpful. The nurse aides were very caring and did an excellent job caring for their patients. And it's a very clean place. They have activities. They were very attentive to my dad. One complaint I had was that his clothes were taken out of his closet. They were hung up and they were lost in the laundry system, so I had to go searching for them. The other thing is my dad's care. I had to go back to Ohio because I don't live out here. When I came back to visit him, his entire body was swelled up and he was gasping for air. I immediately discussed it with the RN, 'What is going on with my father?' He was supposed to be on a water pill. Somehow when he got transferred from the hospital to that place, there was no medication on his paperwork from the hospital or the paperwork I turned in about the meds that he took at home, which had this water pill on it. So, he was not given his medication. The result of that was severe swelling to the point my father couldn't breathe. He already had a lung disease, he's 84, and he had heart failure going on, too, so that didn't help matters. What I inquired to the RN was 'Let's get him a nebulizer treatment. Let's get him a breathing treatment,' and they're like 'No, no, we can't do that.' 'What? You guys don't do nebulizers?' 'No, we don't do that because of the COVID.' Something about COVID regulations, they cut off doing that in nursing homes. That was shocking to me because it's like if somebody needs help breathing, you would think they would give him oxygen. So that made me angry because there is no help for my father, and I'm sure there are more people in there that cannot breathe, and they cannot be helped with any breathing treatments or any oxygen. They're monitored for how much oxygen is in their body through an oximeter (pulse meter) on their finger, and I can guarantee, had they put that on my father, he probably would have been below maybe 77, 80, or something like that and unable to breathe. So there was suffering that was needless as far as that went. He suffered the whole time, I believe, while he was in there because he didn't have enough oxygen. So that made me so angry. It's very aggravating to me what happened at Bay Shores, and I know it's kind of limited what they can do in there because of this law or that law. But no manmade law is going to override what a daughter thinks is best for her father, so that is how I feel about that whole situation.

Mom was placed at Bay Shores Nursing Care Center from the hospital. They have activities such as crafts and social events. Then there's physical therapy and beauty services. They are caring people, but they're experiencing staffing difficulties right now, as is everyone in the nation.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. We sent my grandfather here (77y) after he had a stroke. Shortly after sending him, my grandmother visited him. She saw he had developed a blacked toe (VERY VISIBLE) and when she told the nurse about it, the nurse seemed “shocked” and said she had never seen it. The facility never brought in a doctor to see him after my grandmother brought it to the nurse’s attention. Two weeks later, he developed sepsis, a blood infection, had another stroke, and tested positive for COVID-19. He was never checked by a medical professional for any of these prior, besides when he had the test administered for COVID-19. He was rushed to the hospital two weeks ago, and died on Friday, presumably from Cepsis. Please do not send your loved ones here. He could still be alive right now.

I live in New York and was calling the facility daily speaking with the nursing staff and they were reporting to me that my mom was looking good and doing well but when I attempted to speak with my mom she did not recognize me and was completely disorientated. Concerned, I directed the staff to send her to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw where she was diagnosed with influenza A, pneumonia, a UTI and in final renal shut-down. I warn you to ,look at another facility for your loved one!

I listened to the ad on the radio for Bay Shores & it's not true in any way. I have nothing good to say. Poorly staffed, The food was overcooked/burnt. Sad that my mother had to spend her last days there, but thankfully not for long before she passed. I'd say more if I could.
Great facility and staff

This is a great place for both Rehab and long term placement. My mom rehabbed there and then decided to stay long term. The staff on all shift were wonderful and very helpful. They did not seem understaffed at all. It's a beautiful building and if there was a concern ther management was right there and listening.

Facility is poorly managed and care and staff are bare minimum. Staff is in a hurry and not attentive. Heard staff talking poorly about each other. Different caregivers many times. Not a happy place.

My mother is in Bay Shores. The building is new. It is a newer addition. It has lots of windows. The room has a bathroom, a flat screen TV, a bed, a kitchen, a huge window with window blinds, and a nightstand lamp. The staff is friendly and helpful. The services are good, but have room for improvement. They have bingo several times a week and sometimes twice a day. There is crafts, during Christmas time there was Christmas carols and Christmas parties. They have church on Sundays. On Valentine's day, there is a king and queen on each wing.
