I didn't like the vibe of Bickford of Battle Creek. I met with the sales manager and the maintenance guy. The residents didn't seem very happy and they didn't show me everything. They showed me a model room, and that was it. I didn't see too many staff. I saw somebody getting food for the residents, but I didn't see too many people working there. Those who assisted me were nice enough, but they weren't very forthcoming. They weren't very engaged with the residents. The model room was OK. They gave me their information, talked to me, walked me around, showed me that room, but I didn't stick around, or ask any more questions because I wasn't going to take my mom there.

I went to Bickford of Battle Creek. I like the fact that you have to take your own furniture. The person who took me on a tour of the facility was good. They have a garden and they also have a place to sit.

My family and I are ecstatic to be able to have our loved-one moved from their previous assisted-living facility in Portage, MI to this one. There is a stark difference between the two. Having a caring, professional staff has made the move, intake and transition pretty seamless. Bickford is a beautiful and welcoming environment that I would highly recommend. They keep the residents well-fed, as-well-as, mentally and socially engaged. They care about the whole person. My loved-one has only been living in Bickford of Battle Creek one week, but I can already see a positive change. I believe the efficacious attention and care that he's received from the staff at Bickford of Battle Creek, has given him back his smile and my family's peace-of-mind.

The tour with Bickford of Battle Creek was very organized. No immediate smell when you walked in. The staff were all welcoming, and we just loved the atmosphere there. There is a small kitchenette in the apartment, with a sink and a couple of cupboards, you can bring all your own things from your home. And it has a bathroom with a walk-in shower. And that's inside your room, and right outside her apartment is a door to an outside courtyard. I went back again with my family and toured it again, and my family was impressed. They're absolutely beautiful inside. One of the instant likes that we had as they have a great, big, huge calendar wall where they post all of the monthly activities, so you can make up whatever day it is and find out what activities are planned for that day. And then they also have another wall where they have the menu for the week and the day. And you can plan, you have a choice of one or another meal. There are always two choices. So that kind of was nice to see ahead of time.

I went to Bickford of Battle Creek yesterday. It was a good tour. It was very thorough. She answered all my questions and I got a good feeling about the place. Everything was handled very professionally. So, it was good. It was very clean. It was very cozy. I was there at lunchtime, so all of the residents were being served lunch in the dining room. The food smelled amazing. I was really impressed by the menu that they offered, and the rooms were very nice. I saw two different model rooms and it met all of my expectations. They both have a courtyard and the garden area, and I was told that they have a gardening club, so the residents can actually get out and do gardening activities, which I thought was really nice. And it was gated, so it felt secure. The lady who gave me the tour and talked with me, I'm assuming she was the director of the place. She was very nice, very professional, and very passionate about what she was doing.

Bickford of Battle Creek was a nice place and it looked like they tried to have activities for the people there. Somebody comes in with a guitar and plays songs to the residents and they sing. Since it was the first time I'd seen anything in an assisted living, the one-bedroom to me was kind of small (I guess I'm used to a house), but they had lots of sitting areas where people could get together and do stuff. They also had a spa, which was nice.

My tour to Bickford of Battle Creek was good. It's very homey and very nice, it's nicely decorated and very comfortable with lots of chairs. The person who gave the tour was very knowledgeable and helped us with a lot of our questions. We haven't tried the food but the guests were all eating their lunch, and they all seemed very happy.

Bickford of Battle Creek was very clean, and the staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. The two-bedroom apartment was good. The bedrooms don't have doors. It was a nice layout with a little kitchen in the middle. They had everything from a game room, puzzles, family room, dining room, and a weight room or exercise room. It was very nice. It's in a convenient location.

My grandfather is at the assisted living of Bickford of Battle Creek and the experience have been very well. The staff has been attentive and have listened to our needs. I would say that his only complaint is that it's a community of mostly women, there are a few men and he's not finding himself fitting in socially just yet. The overall experience has been very good. The rooms have been very good. He's got a private room with a bathroom and shower, it has the equipment. It has been perfectly fine and much better than a lot of other places that we looked at. We haven't had any problems with maintenance, we've asked for a few things, and it's been done within a fairly timely manner so it's been great. He loves the food. It's a private dining area, he gets to order the food that he wants and there are choices on the menu. His comment is constantly, they feed you a lot of food here. There's a nice common area with a big TV and a nice solarium area where he can go and sit. There's an activity room, he can go and sit, and do things like crosswords and coloring. He's not one to take advantage of many of those things, but there's plenty. They even have a little kitten that is a part of the community. The staff has been amazing, I don't have anything bad to say about the staff. Everything that we've asked, everything that I've had to contact them for, it's been great.

The staff at Bickford of Battle Creek didn't walk me around the place. We sat down and I told them that I need to find out how much they cost. She was kind of "I'll show you around if we all can afford it, but I don't want to waste your time." It looked like a very nice place and the woman was very nice. It was a beautiful building and the staff seemed very friendly. The facilities were average. She gave me a paper that has all the information, we were just kind of talking business. She was very friendly, it was a very business-oriented meeting. It was a very clean, nice and friendly kind of place. They're very good on the COVID standard as well. For us, it's a nice central location if you want to be in Battle Creek, and there are busses that are going right by it.

Bickford of Battle Creek is less expensive than most of the other ones, and that's definitely a plus. Anything in Battle Creek though is too far away from me. The room I saw was good. In terms of amenities, they have the standard things that they all have. I saw their dining area. The residents seem happy and content.

We toured Bickford of Battle Creek, and we liked it. We saw the studio apartments in the assisted living, and they were excellent. We saw where the residents eat and where they sit. We also saw the conference room. The staff we met was very friendly, and she offered us something to drink. The facility was clean and very well-maintained.

My father-in-law is very happy with Bickford of Battle Creek. His sons go there and take him out on occasions. They did a veteran's thing recently and some of the family went. He said that the food is good and they feed him a lot. The place looks really elegant. It's always clean, nice, and the rooms are laid out well. The rooms have a little kitchenette and little bedroom areas as well. There are different kinds of rooms and the staff members are very pleasant. The residents go out to movies, they go to eat, and they play bingo and cards. They have several activities they can participate in if they choose to. It's expensive, but for what they offer, I think they have a good price compared to other places. This place is a good fit and I'm always impressed with everything when I go there. Some of the other places don't have as much to offer. I also like that the residents can lock their doors or their stuff, although the staff members can still go in. They seem to be full of people that you can associate with.

I visited Bickford of Battle Creek, and I was impressed with it. It seemed like their apartments were a bit bigger. The staff seemed to be very friendly, accommodating, and invited me to come back with my dog so the residents could meet her. The location was fine, and there was a bus stop close by where I could ride a bus anywhere I needed to go.

My father moved into Bickford; it's a beautiful facility, it's small, and they had great staff. Everything is good, and I have no complaints.

This is a very understaffed facility with poor attention to resident care. The nurse aides responsible for resident care are also working in the kitchen, bussing tables, washing linens and laundry and doing janitorial duties like mooping and vacuuming the building while also trying to provide care to the residents. Staff was very stressed out, complained a lot, employees did't show up and aides were mandated nearly everyday, often working 18 hours straight. I was not comfortable leaving my loved one in the middle of hthis kind of chaos. Very scary.

We went with Bickford because my mother-in-law was able to bring her dog with her and the room that was available was one of the larger ones with a courtyard deal. She likes the food. They have arts and crafts, music, and movie days. She appears to be happy there.

Bickford of Battle Creek was a very nice and very fancy facility, but my in-laws are not very fancy people, so I don’t think they would be comfortable there. The staff who assisted me during my visit was very professional. I did not like the layout of the room for two people because it was like two separate bedrooms with a seating area. The dining area was clean and very nice with China plates and cloth napkins. I was so impressed with it.

They have people of differing mental capacities at Bickford all mixed in together. They do group similar people together, so you're meeting people that are more of your standard. It was a very nice facility with nice rooms. One thing that bugged me was that the lady giving us the tour, who was the marketing lady, would just open up the door and look in some people's apartments; she didn't have permission to go in there, but she was just opening them up and showing us these apartments. I know when I toured a couple of the others, they always went and asked the person, "Can I show your room?" I was a little uncomfortable with the idea of us going into these rooms where the person didn't know we were going in. We were there at meal time, and they had a nice menu with a lot of choices, and if you didn't like what they were offering that day, they have standard things you could get, like a regular sandwich or whatever. They had activities going on, and they took people on outside activities with a small bus. They've have about 70 people there, so it's a large amount of people to use the small bus.

We like a lot of things at Bickford of Battle Creek. They just seemed very caring, like they would take good care of Mom. We looked at one room that was kind of a divided room. Though it was decent size, we still would want to look at a studio because that's probably what Mom would go into, but the room was adequate. It had a nice kitchen area. We only saw four or five staff, and they were friendly. It was a little dark in the facility, and a lighter environment might have been nicer.

We looked at Bickford of Battle Creek. The problem we had was that they had a common area, and as soon as you walk in the door, several of the residents were just parked around the television; part of them were all slumped over in their chair sleeping after breakfast, and the first impression was depressing. The décor also is kind of depressing.

Bickford resident care is provided by CNA's and Home Health Aides, these same employees are also responsible for providing housekeeping, janitorial, kitchen and laundry services while on shift.. Staff is overworked, there is a high employee turnover rate, inconsistent and unfamiliar staff. Nurses are only on-call 24/7, they are not on-site 24/7. Facility operating on the legal bare minimum to earn maximum profits.

To me, Bickford of Battle Creek was a better place. They seemed to have more activities like church services, and the price was a lot cheaper. The rooms were set up differently, and the people and the staff were nice. It seemed nice and clean, but it was just kind of hollow, like it wasn't as homey as it should be.

Bickford is close to where the folks live now and where their friends are. TheyÕre not comfortable there, the place is very expensive but it eases family membersÕ mind to know that somebody is watching over them. The staff is pleasant, nice and respectful.

I chose Bickford Assisted Living for my friend. This facility really focuses strongly on memory care for individuals with dementia. Their studio apartment has everything. All services also are self-contained in the facility as far as meals, medication, management, laundry, cleaning, and activities. It's very appropriate for that group of individuals who need that kind of attention. Also the staff seem very involved in caring.

I have to say that the Bickford smelled clean but not so sterile as is usually the case with these kinds of places. While it was very clean and had something of a home atmosphere I found the staff to be very confident and ever present whenever needed. I think my grandmother enjoyed the interactions she had with some of the higher functioning residents.
