The staff all gave my father respect and comfort threw out his stay, all of the staff gave me Comfort including the director Rikki who I and her spent many times talking. My father's short stay of 5 months was full of Adventures learning and finally comfort, he had Lewy Body dementia, he at times was not easy to deal with, but the staff treated him with respect care and love. I could not ask more of anyone to care for my father when the staff at Dexter house. He passed away just a few days ago and threw up his journey everyone at Dexter house treated him with care compassion and love, I would like to thank everyone at Dexter house her caring for my father, on the last night with just a few hours left we reminisced of all the different moods of my father. It was good to talk with the people that cared for him. I have the upmost respect with a staff at Dexter house.

My husband had a pressure wound on his buttocks and the wound care doctor at Dexter scraped the tissue off, without cleaning the area, in spite of he had a huge poopy diaper, dried up, which was sitting for a long time. My husband ended up having MRSA and suffered a lot because of that. A very dirty place.

Never send anyone here who you care about! If you have a voice and can speak up for yourself this is not the place for you! You will be labeled as a trouble maker! I was robbed within the first few days of being here of over two hundred and thirty dollars from my wallet. They told me they called police they never did.. I called police. This happens a lot here but they won’t admit it. Food choice is slim to none. Food arrives cold always. They mess up doctors appointments all the time. Staffers and administrators lie to your face constantly. If you have a special need or situation they Dodd’s not follow through with attending to those needs. They exist only to get your insurance money or your personal money. I feel bed for those patients who cannot speak up for themselves. Rooms are dreary and nursing staff are usually NWA (nurses with attitudes)! The only thing that seems to work well here is the rehab therapy staff. Dexter House in Malden needs to be CLOSED DOWN PERMANENTLY! I will be filing a formal complaint to the state board that oversees nursing homes!

Avoid this facility at all costs. It is dirty and very outdated. The “nursing” staff spoons out drugs.. that’s all. Symptoms are not addressed. The aides could care less. Dementia patients mixed with adults with other mental disorders. Recipe for disaster. One expects an occasional odor but this place smelled of urine and waste all the times I visited my mother.

My brother lives at Dexter and I think the staff are great. They are very considerate and helpful. The Activity Director has done a good job getting everyone involved.

If i could give zero stars i would, but to write a review requires one, certainly not deserved. I would NOT recommend, this Facility. Very uncaring unfriendly staff. Glad to get my mom out of there. I saw & heard some things that made me shake my head. If you have a family member there I would watch them closely, and if they say something believe them. Very sad the way they treat the patients.

food is horrible & disgusting, you would think since they bill the insurance company a lot of money, some of it might be spent on somewhat above average food.

The cna (nurses aids) don't seem too happy there, my father would ring for water or assistance, and got nothing but grief and attitude from them. I also noticed a noticeable stench of feces upon entering the building each time on the main floor, I complained about it, but nothing happens.

Placed here for rehabilition therapy for month's stay. Doctor for facility inept & un-cooperative in dealing with any type of pain management medicine, needed to file a grievance with my insurance company to take action. Ended up transferring to a better facility. I recommend a facility with more experienced physicians, also there is no parking at this facility, which is ridiculious.

I would not have too much concern if all my loved one really needed was good Rehab ( OT/PT )...the gym and staff are excellent. The medical side of things, however, is a bit less than confidence building. The food is rather terrible, and even though they "offer" options if you do not like/cannot eat the main meal - you are SOL unless you have visitors who bring your food to you (which we did for 95% of Mom's meals during her brief, ~5 day stay). YOU, the family/loved ones - NEED to be acutely aware and actively involved with the patients care (true of any facility, but MORESO here!). THere is no clear taking of responsibility for any one patient, so accountability is lacking greatly. When a medical issue came up, one which, had anyone bothered to read the hospital instructions/information about what my Mom needed, went thru...the director of nursing was less than helpful at all. Feeling helpless when your loved one is in the care of others is hard, ...feeling like the ones doing the caregiving are: a). incompetent, b). lazy, and c). aloof --- this is NOT OK. We are not returning for any "care" here.

The Dexter Houses Rehabilitation Team was exceptional. My friend was recovering from surgery. Due to the experienced, caring and professional staff, she was able to transition to her home, without pain. I highly recommend Dexter House to anyone recovering from surgery.
