My mom was at Brightview in Edgewater MD for a year and a half until her death, and the experience was amazing! As she progressed from needing very little to moving to the memory unit, everyone at Brightview remained involved, responsive, loving and encouraging. They are very expensive, but so much better than other communities.

I toured Brightview South River. I liked that the minute that you walk through the door, you're treated like you're special. They know everybody's names and know what everybody likes. They don't treat you like a prisoner or treat you like a piece of furniture. They scrub the place endlessly. I saw three people cleaning and picking up little trash cans, doing the whole works, in the half hour I was there. There was never a question of cleanliness. There was never a question of care being denied. My mother was there about 4 years ago, and I never had to fight for a thing for her, and I could tell that it was still the same way. You walk in and the mood is so happy and so upbeat. They go into so much trouble for their residents. If they want to sit out on the porch, they let you out the door. They came to my husband to assess him as well. The food is top-notch. They have a Marriott-trained chef that has meals that you can recognize. It's good; an amazing place.

We're going to pick Brightview South River for my father because he has ended up in a wheelchair. He can get up, but he needs assistance all the time, and other places didn't quite have that level of care. The staff was very helpful, very informative, and very friendly. The apartments were extremely roomy and easily accessible. They have lots of activities and meals, and family can join them. They have something every day in the morning and the afternoon, and then there's happy hour. It was a little weird that it had an elevator, but it works out just fine, because he really does better if he doesn't have a long hallway to go down. I have not tasted the food, but I have seen it, and I know people who liked it, so I thought that would be great. Everything seemed wonderful.

My mom has moved into Brightview South River. So far, so good. I love the staff, and the facilities are nice. Everybody is very caring, friendly, and very approachable. It feels like a family; it's great. So far, I'm very happy. So far, just very satisfied; great. It's expensive; it's worth it.

My 100 yr. old father-in-law (who was blind and wore hearing aids) was a resident for 2 1/2 yrs. Brightview called us one day to report an "incident" and they called 911. My father-in-law denied medical care. When we saw his injuries, we took him to the hospital. He had massive bruises on his front chest and entire back. The hospital called the abuse rep and she took notes and pictures. The police investigated but could not "prove" abuse. My father-in-law has since died from unrelated causes, and we still are not sure what happened to him.

The tour at Brightview South River was great. It was friendly, quiet, and clean. The people were out and looking around. There were sitting areas for people to sit and talk. The rooms seemed very well managed and taken care of. The grounds were well taken care of as well. I didn't notice any large amount of trash anywhere. The staff was very friendly. The dining area was good size. I didn't see the food, but they showed us their menu. It was a substantial menu that changed day to day.

Brightview South River was a nice, relatively new place that was only five to 10 minutes away from me.

Brightview at Edgewater was much newer, and the rooms were nicer. However, it was expensive, and a little bit out of our budget.

Brightview is the facility that I picked for my father because the building is very nice, it has a good reputation, and it is maybe 10 minutes away from where I live. My father has a small room, but it is fine for him. There are activities for the residents. They have movies and different people coming in. They have a lot of other activities; he doesn’t participate in most of them though. The food is fine.

This place has really gone down hill. All the money you pay you expect to get what you pay for your expectations are too high. Rooms did not get cleaned food is horrible and the staff members are horrible especially the nurses. My mom fell and was left on floor for over two hours calling for help. Whats the point of alert buttons if its not gonna be answered.

I was actually really impressed with Brightview. I was hoping to put my mother there. From what I saw, I would give them the top rating. With the little interaction I had with the staff, they seemed to be great. They have good knowledge of the place and all their clients. Their clients were very happy in fact at the time of my visit. Overall, it looks like a nice place to be.
