My mother has moved into Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living Community, and one of the things that I like about it is that it is a CCRC, so it gives you accommodations for rehab, and from there, she went directly to the nursing center. What I like about it is that it's big, but it's not too big. The nursing staff has a good ratio with nurses and the residents there. They're very accommodating and personable. They're very good about their COVID restrictions, meaning they're strict about it, but they do let you go in. I get to be with my mom in person, and I could take my mask off because I am vaccinated, they also vaccinated her while she was there. They have amenities such as a salon, they have an activity center, they have an auditorium, and they even have church services there. I like their different departments. They call me almost every day, even if it's because they're going to put her on a multivitamin or if they're going to change her activities for the day. They have aides and nurses that work 24/7, so there's always somebody who's around my mom. We were going to get her a private room, but she ended up getting a shared room. I thought I would be disappointed, but I wasn't at all. I very much like the way it's set up. It gives my mom company, even though they have their privacy. They both have access to viewing the window, which is nice, and it's very big. They have different departments, and they all like they call me every day, like the dietician, will call me. For example, they have a wounded nurse, and I got a call the other day saying that my mom was getting a blister on her toe. They just call you about every little thing, even about her exercise regimen. The aides braid her hair, they take care of her that way, so I like it. They do have activities, but the problem is the Covid restrictions. They're just reopening, so right now they're doing group activities within their wing, in their area back there. They used to have the entire community in the activity center, but little by little they're reopening. I called yesterday to see what kind of activities she had, and they had a book reading. Activities would depend on the type of patient, and my mom has dementia. What I also like about this place is that dementia patients, they don't like to lock them up in a different unit.

My mother lives at Fahrney Keedy. She has a wonderful, spacious 2 bedroom cottage that she loves. Staff have been wonderful, accommodating, and helpful. Due to COVID, things are restricted right now but she is kept up to date with newsletters and memos on a regular basis. The community drops off treats often. There is a gazebo, community garden, community center, gym available for all residents to use. The Independent Living Residents Association meets for ice cream socials, movie night, trips and outing into the community, and other events. There is a gift shop in the main building where items can be purchased. The home she lives in is maintenance free. Fahrney Keedy offers a beauty/barber shop where residents can get their hair done or trim with reasonable rates. The residents get together for book club, trips to Walmart, Antietam Battlefield, Red Bird Diner, and many other places. The price to live here is just right. The food is delicious and can be delivered to her home. Accommodations can typically be met. Staff are very helpful and friendly. You can tell they genuinely care. I'm glad Mom is at Fahrney Keedy!

My mother is in Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village. I like it, but it's expensive. It's clean, and I haven't found anything that made me nauseous or turn my head. The staff's attitudes are good. However, the doctors would not return my phone calls. They are not very susceptible to the concerns of relatives, but the nursing staff and all the other staff were. The dining area is very clean and looks very nice, and her room looks well maintained.

The staff at Fahrney-Keedy seem to believe they've been set in authority over the family members of the residents. Even after being to leave a message on my phone because I work and can't pick up, they refused and resorted to texting. It's the same thing. I work and can't respond to texts. They called and wanted to do an "in home assessment" and expected me to take off work and transport the resident. I was unable to do this so they told my stepfather I'd refused to take him to his house. He thought I'd abandoned him. It was manipulation on their part and so very cruel to upset a man in his eighties with an untruth.

Fahrney-Keedy is by far superb in Homes in and around the Hagerstown MD area. The staff is top notch!! The home is wonderful for the residents. They have terrific facilities for all of their residents. The dining room and the whole home is just that a "home" atmosphere". We went and checked many before having our mother reside there and we were so pleased with Fahrney-Keedy and gave it 110 % rating. Where as no other facility came even close. Fahrney-Keedy was a breath of fresh air not only to us but to my mother. She could not stop smiling as we took her through the facility with a member of the staff. She sad this is where she wanted to be and we were in total agreement. We were not pleased with the other homes as the staff was not friendly and they did not seem to enjoy the residents. Fahrney Keedy and their staff make their residents feel that they are welcome the minute they enter the door!!! We were so pleased and my mother, well, she said she could just stay and we could bring her things later. The piano caught her eye as she played the piano. They told her she could play it any time she wanted to. We donated many jigsaw puzzles that mom enjoyed doing as she wanted to share with the residents. It was the fact that mom wanted to engage with the staff and other residents where as at the other homes we looked at she seem to withdraw the minute we entered them but not at Fahrney-Keedy. She blossomed here. She loved the food here and that is saying a lot as she is a very picky eater. She loved that they had a lot of activities and a variety of activities. We highly recommend Fahrney-Keedy to anyone who is looking for a wonderful "home" for their loved one!!
