My husband was recommended for rehab at Springbrook Center directly from MMC after a recent illness. I was shocked by the smell when entering the building, and entering the very dated interior and elevator. Arriving at his room, we found a chair smelling strongly of urine which needed to be removed as well as areas of the floor that had not been cleaned. Old window airconditioners and nurse call bells rang continuously. The staff was very pleasant but clearly overwhelmed, and understaffed. On the second evening my husband fell out of bed, had an X-ray the next day at Springbrook and was told there was no injury. Even with pain from the fall, and a second negative X-ray, he continued physical therapy for several weeks until he could no longer do the exercises and was sent to MMC for an X-ray/CT scan which showed a fractured hip requiring immediate surgery. We would NOT recommend this facility for any of your loved ones.

My father was here in NOV 23 for approx 4 weeks. As his caregiver, I was at the factility for hours each days. There was extremely poor communication between the staff, my father and me. My father coud not eat the food - it was not fit for my do. The staff were oftern uncaring and uninterested. There was a worrying lack of attendance at my fathers room. If i didn't go and personally find a nurse, the call bell would not be answered for up to 30-40 minutes. There were no senior staff (only a nurse) on duty on the weekends - our requests for changes to care or meds went unanswered until MON or TUE. If you want good care for your loved ones, I cannot recommend that you send them here.

This is the worst place for rehabilitation. I came out no better than I went in. Very little effort put into my rehabilitation. The food was the most disgusting! I actually had my family bring me food because the food at Springbrook was absolutely horrible. The only thing I can say good about this place was the nurses. They were very nice and accommodating. If at all possible do not put your family into this place. It is also very dingy and depressing. I spent the worst 3 weeks of my life there.

My mother-in-law was in Springbrook Center for rehab and I got a frantic call that she was unresponsive and rushed to the hospital and that she had almost died. She had fallen there and nobody told us. It's not recorded in her medical notes. We had a horrible experience there. Her room was sparse, but it was clean. When you walked into the facility, it smelled like urine and like a toilet. She had a private room and her own bathroom, and it was very nice. We had one nurse's aide that was very good. She was always in her room by herself and she watched television in her room by herself. It looked to me like they had not done much maintenance. They just clean it and that's it. It's in need of some help.

THE PERSONAL CARE OF THE RESIDENTS IS ATTROCIOUS. MY MOM WAS THERE AND SHE CONSTANTLY HAD FECES ON HER AND SMELLED. THEY NEVER GAVE HER A BATH/SHOWER UNLESS I COMPLAINED ABOUT HER ODOR. MY CONSTANT COMPLAINTS FELL ON DEAF EARS, ALTHO I WAS ASSURED EVERYTIME THAT THAT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. THEY CALLED ME ONE DAY TO GIVE ME AN UPDATE ON MY MOM...SAID SHE WAS DOING FINE, WENT OVER AN HOUR LATER AND IMMEDIATELY TOLD THEM SHE NEEDED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. THEIR REPLY WAS..OH..OK. THEY CALLED AN NON EMERGENCY AMBULANCE WHICH TOOK 45 MINUTES. SHE NEVER RETURNED TO THAT FACILITY. THE ONES WHO'S FAMILY DIDNT LIVE CLOSE AND WERE BED RIDDEN, WERE LEFT IN THEIR BEDS FOR A GOOD PART OF THE DAY EVEN THOUGH THEY COMPLAINED THEY WANTED TO GET UP. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE!!!
