My mother lived in The Meadows. They're wonderful, they bend over backwards to do stuff that they don't have to do, they're not required to give medications, but they have tried to help my mom a little bit with that. They're very good, very pleasant, very caring. She has one large room, it has a couch, reclining chair, TV, a closet, a single bed, and her own bathroom. There's no cooking facility in there because they eat in the dining room, but she has to be able to basically function on her own with a little support. She had someone come a couple of times a week to help with her shower from home help, but it's not provided there. It's just an option. They have a nice library, they have puzzles, and I think they played bingo once a week. Occasionally they bring in a musical group, there's a piano for the residents if they wanna use it. It's small, they're very good, and they make special meals like for birthdays and holidays. The food is very nice, homey, the residents had assigned seats, usually four to six people at a table, and the food was excellent. They also had a little area set up so that if residents between meals wanna have muffin or snacks, they can help themselves. It's owned by a woman and her daughter with two or three other employees, including somebody who helps cook. They made 15 pies for about 20 people for a Thanksgiving celebration that we went to. I haven't been anywhere where they made 15 pies of different kinds. It was a nice place, but I don't think my mom can go back. It's all on one floor, it's easily accessible, and pets are allowed if they are small. It's comfy, they have their own laundry facility there, they have a beautician or hair styling room where somebody from outside comes in occasionally and does the residents' hair. They even provide transportation. If you need to go to the doctor they'll take you. If you need something special, they'll take the residents on shopping trips in a van.

I visited The Meadows. That's where I feel it's very home-like. They are exceptionally interested in me. I can describe my room that I'm gonna have. It's the largest room they have; a very large and vast room, they're painting the room, painting the bathroom, and putting in a new sink. They are getting it exceptionally well-prepared for me. It fits me very well. I'm an independent person, I take care of myself, and I don't need nursing care. I have a nurse coming in once a week from a home health, and take care of my weeks with the medications for me. It's very home-like; very welcoming.
