I am the family member of current resident of the assisted living side of this facility. The facility is clean and maintained. Rooms are mostly doubles. Placement staff do the best to match up like individuals. There are plenty of activities. The activity staff are very helpful in coming to get residents and remind them of the schedule. The care director Tammy is very accessible and helpful. Staff are very patient and kind. They always call us with any questions or concerns. It is helpful to me to know that she is in a safe place with kind people to help her when she needs it. Down side is the food is institutional food- Not bad food just processed food full of sodium, nothing you can do about that. There are choices, I just wish they were healthier ones for patients on sodium restricted diets!

This is the worse facility I have ever been too. The director of Nursing, Paula was the rude, inconsiderate and not friendly. The place looked dirty, and understaffed. I would never put a family member or friend at this facility.

Why 4 stars - The facility is dated & yes, I was freaked upon entering. I've discovered nursing homes are large dorms for the elderly so why wouldn't someone young have anxiety upon entering this type of facility. Think about it-You have NO idea until you have to deal with it, what happens when you can no longer care for your parents. My mother was there for a little over a year and LOVED the cafe which serves up a menu for residents each afternoon and evening. The staff was an outstanding 10 stars - are they a little understaffed-yes; do they employ a few staff who could care less-yes but this is in EVERY facility. Having a loved one in any facility is difficult but trust me put your focus on the simple pleasures your parent may want. Respect, courtesy and great food! I was pleasantly surprised as was my mom. This review pertains to the long term care unit - I can't speak to the assited living area.

I've been in Southridge for almost two years now. Some of the people are nice and some of them are not. If I get sick, I can't use the doctor here. I have to go all the way to South Maine Medical Center because that's where my doctors are. I stay in a 1-bedroom apartment and my toilet is bigger than the closet. I would like to do my own cooking because I don't like the food. There's only one good cook here, Joe, an Italian. But he can't do what he wants as far as putting in the right spices.

THIS IS NOT AN ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE TO RESIDE AT NOR HAVE THIER LOVED ONES RESIDE AT. THE CARETAKERS LEAVE THE SOILED RESIDENTS IN THE HALLWAYS IN THEIR WHEEL CHAIRS FOR HOURS ON END BEFORE CHANGING THEM. I WITNESSED A CARETAKER BEING REALLY ROUGH AND RUDE TO AN ELDERLY RESIDENT WHEN SHE HAD TO ASSIST HER IN EATING HER LUNCH. THE FACILITY ITSELF IS NOT IN A CLEAN STATE TO MY STANDARDS AND HAS A HORRIBLE STENCH.
