The workers are very friendly, polite, and welcoming. They speak to you and greet you as you come in. This nursing home has a very fun, open, and entertaining atmosphere that will keep your loved one busy than most nursing homes that tend to be more quiet and boring. There is always a janitor cleaning on the hall when we come into visit. The workers are always present and working the floor if you need them for anything while you’re there. I really have no complaints other than the fact that they don’t go out much for outside trips to the casino, mall, etc like some nursing homes do. When I asked them about this they said that they used to do little outings but then the Coronavirus pandemic hit and that had to stop. Not sure if they plan to start back doing it or not. I’ve met mostly all of the employees there and I’m going to choose to remain anonymous. But I must say the all of workers I’ve met or talked to over the phone does an amazing job with my sister. We are unable to take care of her on our own and can’t visit as often as we like but they keep in contact with us and keep us informed of everything we need to know. I call and get little updates from the nurses every now and then. They call me for care meetings over the phone and give me a detailed report of everything going on with my sister. Feels good to sleep good at night knowing she is at a good nursing home with people who truly cares and love her. They go above and beyond to make her feel special and loved.

I have a family member that currently stay here. Honestly, the place isn’t the best, but it also isn’t that bad either. It’s small and can appear crowded at times especially when coming in the front area. A lot of the patients like to sit on the sofa’s that they have in the little area in the front of the building. There are also some patients there who walks around confused that the aids and nurses constantly have to run behind. One patient came behind me and followed me into my loved one room one day when I came to visit and started touching on her things. This can be a little frustrating at times when coming in to visit but I understand that the patient was confused. They may need to consider having a hall that is closed off for those type of patients like other nursing home places. I think the place need to expand a little bit so that there will be more space for others to walk around and sit down if they wanted to. Overall, I think the staff is very friendly, down to earth, appear to be very caring/ genuine people esp the nurses and aids. They seem to get along with one another and work well as a team. They can be a little loud at times and I sometimes hear them talking/gossiping in the hallway when I come to visit. The food appear to be fair from what I seen. But the dining area is very small and I hate that my family member have to wait at times to eat due to no where to sit. Oh and just about every time I come, they always have some type of activity or something for the patients to do which I love about the place. They play music as well for the patients to dance to, so I doubt if they are ever bored. Overall, I think the place can be a little bigger because it seems overcrowded at times.

I visited my wife in Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation of Port Allen. The staff is really good. The communications and follow-up are not as good. The communication with the family member (which is me) and the follow-up with what they said they were going to provide, they do not call me regularly. Every time I want to, I got to call them. I don't like that because I think they should keep me informed. The physical appearance is OK. They have a lot more residents in a smaller space, so I think the layout is not as nice as the other places. The other places have a memory care program, but this is not memory care, this is like a general population, so there's a difference. The menu is acceptable. They offer bingo, and they have a birthday program for someone who has a birthday. Their communication is not as good. Two months ago, I've requested a pay and activity calendar and I've never received it. I've seen janitors and everybody was walking through there cleaning, mopping, and wiping stuff down, so I don't see them being dirty. It just wasn't as neat and spaced out as the other facility. I would have to break down the administration staff versus the floor staff. The floor staff would get a higher rating than the administration staff. The administration doesn't do a follow-up. They don't follow up with giving me feedback as I requested. But I think the floor staff is pretty good. The staff is pretty kind and nice. They have empathy. However, the administration's communication and feedback to the family can be improved.
