My husband is in Sterling Place, a nursing home in Baton Rouge. He's under hospice. He's been there for several weeks, and I haven't had any problems with them. The staff has all been very nice to me, very caring, and very concerned. They have activities, but my husband is not a participant. His dementia is very advanced now, so he's not into it. They've been remodeling since the hurricane, when they've had problems. It's been very nice. Everything I've seen there has been very nice. It's been very well-kept. For visitations, you can't really go to the rooms. You can only stay downstairs. The outdoor space has a couple of patios. I've only been on one of the patios in the courtyard. The location is close to the hospital, and it's not difficult to get to for me.

The rooms was very unsanitary and the workers would not come when needed help for anything they took their time and when they finally came they said to use it in her diaper instead of helping her to the bathroom like they was asked multiple times. The main nurse was snobby caught an attitude when asked to do anything for the patient. VERY RUDE ALL TOGETHER DEFINITELY SONT RECOMMENDED ANYONE BE SENT THERE FOR ANY TREATMENT

DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE FOR YOUR FAMILY!!!! They will refuse to take them to the restroom & make your family member use it on themselves! My family member called them THREE times and they told her use it on herself because she had a diaper on, when she was capable of going to the bathroom with minimal help! This place either needs to take a good look at its staff and make some serious changes or shut down!!

We had a choice between Sterling Place and a few other mid-town facilities. This one was the best. The facility smelled clean, looked clean, reception was very friendly, and saw residents in an activity with music and exercise.

Sterling Place is most definitely not the most elegant place to leave your elderly loved one. With tile floors throughout, it's hard to convince my mother that she's not in a hospital. When going to their website, you don't see much about their extra stuff, because there really isn't anything extra. Under the supervision of a medical director, they provide such services as consultations from pharmacists, dieticians, and RNs, which is pretty typical. If you're on a budget, this may be the option for your loved one.
