My mother is in Heritage Manor of Baton Rouge. My family and I have been very satisfied. The staff is attentive to my mother. I think she gets good care. She seems very content and very happy there. We're overall very pleased with the facility. She's on a restricted diet because she has a swallowing difficulty, but I think with the soft food and the thick liquids, that's been fine. We're limited because of the COVID, but several years ago we had a family member there, and we were very pleased with the facility. All was very neat and tidy, and with the COVID they're taking all the precautions they need. We feel very satisfied that she's getting what she needs and we're comfortable where she is. It's very well kept, and the facility looks nice to me inside and out. For what we get, it's a very fair cost. I'm very pleased with it. We did a lot of comparison shopping because we were out-of-pocket the first few months, and then Medicaid is paying for it, but I think the cost is very good for what we get definitely. We're very satisfied with the administrative staff as well as the nursing staff.

My mama was in Heritage Manor of Baton Rouge, and we weren’t happy with it at all. They were very disorganized. When my mama first went in there, she was bedridden, so she was dependent upon them to come and help her get things because she was having issues with needing a diaper. They wouldn’t always come. I understand you can’t come that second, but it was a routine thing that she wasn’t taken care of in a timely manner. The room was a semi-private room, and it was a little small and crowded. The food was soggy and had no seasoning. I went and ate with her one night, and you had to get in there an hour to an hour and a half ahead of time, and they just took forever to be served. She was there for the skilled nursing to help her get her back on her feet. The only really positive thing that I have to say about them is that the rehabilitation, physical therapist, and occupational therapist were all great, but the nurse’s aides and the nurses were not. They could improve on patient care.

My sister was in Heritage Manor of Baton Rouge, and our experience was just very average, if not a little below. The rooms were too small. The food was not good, and it looked terrible. There wasn't anything I liked about it. They need better staff and more staff. They weren't helpful.

We were not happy with Heritage Manor. My great aunt was only there for 10 days. It was horrible. She was there for rehab because she fell at home. While she was there, she fell again and broke another bone. The rooms were very nice. Overall, it seemed to have a very pleasant atmosphere.

I don't like the Heritage Manor of Baton Rouge -- the place or the smell -- and I feel the staff is lazy. It looks very clean, and the staff is very nice, but I don't like them as far as taking care of the patients. They are not very attentive. When my brother first moved in, they moved him around a lot in different rooms. When I go there, it was like he doesn't have any clothes on because I wanted to take him out, but he doesn't have any clothes, so I wonder how they can manage him in there when he doesn't have any clothes. He does not have any clothes available because they had brought his clothes straight from the laundry and they have put them in another room -- in his previous rooms -- and it is aggravating me. They found some clothes, all of them weren't his, but they found some. If you don't address the issue, they don't care. If you never say anything, they wouldn't do anything about it. Nobody takes time out to go look unless someone complains. They are not paying attention. I am not happy with the place at all.

My experience was not that positive with this facility. Although the grounds were well kept, the inside was cramped. My grandmother was in a room with another woman who was certainly not in her right mind. We provided a snack container for my grandmother and each day we went back it was empty, My husband saw the staff person walking the halls eating the exact snack we had for her. When we checked her container, they were gone. My grandmother had bleeding that was ignored and was often found with dirty clothes and adult pull ups. Due to her not being able to move, the bed was placed on the floor because a worker left the be rail down and she fell out of the bed. She received a busted lip and bruises on various parts of her body. No one took "ownership" of the incident. The pills she was to take were not given to her because she fought them. I can't imagine she was the only one this happened to. Needless to say, my grandmother was not there long.
