She’s already been placed. Wesley Village KY is a much different set up, and it’s excellent for what her needs are. It’s private pay, and there’s a wait list, but as far as recommending it, it’s something to check out. They have all levels of care, so once you make the move into it, you’re not going to have to move back out.

We were hoping to find a continuum care and we were really happy that Wesley Village KY has. My parents can just add what they need as they need it. They have actual little villas if you like them, but they also have apartments that are in their main building for independent living. As you need other things, you just ask for it and it just becomes part of your overall continuum. Then, of course, they also have a memory care unit. The only hang-up we see with Wesley Village KY is the expense, because the way it's set up, it is much more expensive than most other ones, but I was impressed with everything else. It was a wonderful facility. I wouldn't mind living there myself. It was nice. The main building had everything. They had a nice library with chairs, couches, and things. They had a pool for pool exercise and activities every day. They had a workout room, and a craft room, and they offered all kinds of different activities. They have a big, huge cinema room for movies or ball games, which in Kentucky is kind of a big deal. You can go in and watch a basketball game with a bunch of your friends. They have a little cafe with breakfast that's included every morning. So, you can walk over there and get it. If you're in the building, you don't even have to walk over there, you just walk down. I haven't had a lot of experience looking around yet, but this one beats everything I've ever seen or heard of. It was excellent, but you have to pay for it. They're set up on a different type of payment system where you buy in. You have to up front a good amount of money and then half of that money that you invest comes back to you in a monthly way to lower the monthly payments, but the monthly payments were still going to come out even with insurance and stuff. It's still going to be a couple of thousand dollars at least in addition to the buy-in. So, it was expensive, but if you can afford it, that's the place to go. They had so many other things. They're affiliated with the Methodist Church. They've got church services and Bible studies, and you can even audit classes from Asbury University. That's part of what they offer and I want to do that. It's just a very vibrant place and I felt like you don't have to worry that your parents are going to go to an assisted living or a nursing home and just sit there and vegetate. I don't think that would even be possible in Wesley Village, KY. They have concerts, speakers, and all kinds of interesting things that come to them through the college, but they also have transportation and outings where they take them to concerts in Lexington. They had a play that they were taking people to see if they wanted to go. You just sign up for it. They had the Lexington Philharmonic orchestra there. They also have a gathering room. They offer one other hot meal that's part of that and if you want a third meal, I think it was $8 per person and if you're in one of the villas, they will deliver if you want them to or you can walk over and eat there or you can walk over and pick it up and take it home or whatever suits you will work.

My wife and I joined our daughter and a friend in touring Wesley Village and had our lunch at the same time. The noon meal was very good, and the other residents were having their meals with us. We then had time with the marketing people. All of that went well. They have a standing policy that if you desire to have a meal at the dining hall and the weather prevents you from getting there physically or if there’s some other issue that causes you to be unable to get there, they’ll bring you the meal in a box. The folks at Wesley Village have been very willing to answer questions on the telephone. They had a number of different concerts of varying kinds of music for listening, singing along, and dancing. They have trips and facilities in their buildings that house the exercise, library, and swimming. Their facilities are nice. They are only 20 years old, but even the oldest buildings are still looking quite well kept. We were happy with what we saw.

The staff is very nice and respectful. My grandfather has a great time with the activities they provide. He is a big fan of the living arrangements and says The food is always served on time. He feels sometimes things aren't kept as nice and clean as they are suppose to be kept and that brings his spirits down some. He misses my grandmother and being around other people his age helps him with that and the staff is always willing to talk to him about anything that is on his mind. The location is nice and away from a lot of noise and disturbances but close enough to things just in case he needs something from the grocery store that they do not have at the facilities. He has a good time and loves being there most of the time and always has more positive than negative things to say about Wesley Village.
