I had been homeless for almost 2 years staying in Pitino Shelter I have lived in Roosevelt House only since January 2012, but I couldn't think of a place any better. Before moving here, I had never lived alone and to say I was nervous would be a gross understatement. The staff here were friendly and understanding. The let me know there is someone available 24/7 in case of emergency. If I needed to talk to a staff person, they were there available to help...and if there is a problem, to get it corrected as quickly as possible. If there is a maintenance problem, they are there very shortly after you report it. There are activities in both buildings almost everyday if you want to take part in them or just watch. They distribute a calendar page every month with most of the activities on them. I would (and do) highly recomendn anyone to live here.

By all accounts it seems like a very nice place. They've allowed my grandmother to enjoy some independence while still keeping an eye on her. They provide meals and other activities to keep residents healthy, but attendance is not required at most of them. My Grandmother complains that the meals tend to be pretty hit or miss, but each small apartment includes a small kitchen so that residents can make their own meals if they're so inclined, and a weekly shuttle takes residents to a nearby grocery store. When my grandmother fell they were aware of it within minutes and took her to the hospital without any trouble. They take good care of their residents and everyone there seems happy and healthy. The staff are friendly but fairly hands off- they let the residents do what they want for the most part, but if they're in trouble they get help immediately. There's a pretty great community here too- my Grandma has made a lot of friends since she moved here, and everyone seems to be enjoying their twilight years. Basically, a very nice place for elderly people in need of a little supervision.

The Roosevelt House in Owensboro, KY is where my grandma has lived for the past 6 years. It is located on Fredrica Street. The Roosevelt House is a very nice assisted living facility. There are several events for the residents to partake in located in the commons area on the ground floor. These events occur about once or twice a week. There are even bus trips available for the senior citizens to ride over to nearby grocery stores, restaurants, and even the mall to have a little leisure time. The staff here is very courteous, helpful, and understanding, they do a fantastic job taking care of all of the residents. The amenities here are fairly nice, but could be better. The rooms are basically little apartments, with each containing a tiny kitchen area, a living room, bedroom, and bathroom. There is also a commons area with a big screen television located on the ground floor, as well as a laundry room, vending room, and a chapel. This home even offers residents storage bins down in the basement, completely free of charge. I think the Roosevelt House is a fantastic place to stay, and I know that my grandma is enjoying her time spent there.
