My father moved into Homestead Post Acute. They're so understaffed. He has a nice room. It's got a huge bathroom. I mean, it's really nice. It's a lot nicer than the other one that my friend was in actually. The room, as far as it was, I'm surprised that it was this big. He does have a roommate. So the first couple of days there -- he's 85, so he's really old fashioned -- the roommate that they had put him with, didn't want to keep his clothes on for whatever reason, and that really bothered my dad with me coming in and out of there. We would pull the curtain and the guy would push the curtain back. Dad mentioned it to the staff. So then they moved Dad's roommate. It's like they were trying to team up with someone that's more compatible or whatever. I really liked that they did that as well. The food looks good to me. He says, "Some of that stuff I don't want." He's going to have to try new things. But the meals look good and then they have snacks throughout the day. He said they either put it down on the table like in a TV room, or they'll come in and ask him if he's in his room.

We admitted my Mom at Homestead in 2016. Everything was great until 2019 when a new Administrator took over. His name is Justin. From November 209-January 2020, Mom became sick with the Flu and Pneumonia twice. I went over to check on her at 1 AM because she was not answering her phone. That caused a stink evidently because Justin called me into the office over me coming to check on Mom at “late hours”. I asked the charge nurse to go and check on Mom when I arrived because I could not wake her up when I was in her room. She said, “ That is the job of the 7 AM nurse, not mine. “ And she walked away! Justin called me into his office and threatened to "Ban Me" from seeing Mom if I continued to come at "late hours". You see, these people forget that we (Mom and her family) pay their salaries! They are on our payroll! The level of respect dwindled and we moved mom to another facility. Do not put your loved one at Homestead Nursing Home.

My husband stayed at Homestead and the therapy team and nursing team worked with him so he got stronger. He was able to come back home with me after staying for a few weeks on the rehab unit.

Homestead was recommended to my father. It was nice and clean. They kept the smell down really good and it doesn't smell of a nursing home. The staff were not afraid to bathe people. They're not shy to come in and help you to make sure you're clean. They offered bingo and card games.

Homestead Nursing and Rehab Center is a really great nursing home facility. I think that the staff really care for the residents, and take care of both their physical and emotional needs. I was very impressed with the manner that my mother was cared for, and I knew that she was getting the best level of care in the area. I have toured other facilities in the Lexington area and I found the Homestead Center one of the friendliest and most well managed. I also have experience with this facility because my great aunt received rehabilitation services here after her knee surgery. She was able to regain confidence, strength and mobility after a very challenging surgery, and the staff was very understanding. You could tell that they identified with her, and that they were experienced in their craft. If you are in the Lexington area and you are trying to find nursing or rehabilitation for someone you care about, take a tour or talk to the administrators at Homestead. They will be able to give you options and answer your questions.
